This tripod and fluid head by Manfrotto are GREAT for the intermediate-professional videographer. After doing freelance videography work for four years, I have just started my own company and we are expanding our arsenal of equipment. These sticks take our kit to the next level by allowing the DSLR shooter to mount more onboard peripherals such as lights, mics, rail systems, and matte boxes without worrying about overloading the tripod. This tripod is also solid for when you upgrade to RED Scarlet or Black Magic cameras. The 502A fluid head is AMAZING. SO smooth and reliable. Able to lock off and not droop or go flaccid. Great fluid head to mount on our 4 foot slider dolly as well. I love the carrying case that comes with the bag as it has a sewn-in velco strap to keep the sticks from moving around too much within the bag.

Comments about Manfrotto MVH502A Fluid Head and 546B Tripod System with Carrying Bag:

Great stability, fluid head, feet, ease of use. Solidly built. Easy to extend legs and adjust ball head. I use it with the Sony NEX FS100 and balance is great. The only gripe (which others have mentioned): tilt lock is on the right side of the head. For most people who operate the pan bar with their right hand, this is a pain to access. I would much rather the tilt resistance on the right because I don't access it as much and the tilt lock on the left.

    Good Bang for the Buck

Comments about Manfrotto MVH502A Fluid Head and 546B Tripod System with Carrying Bag:

Overall this is a good buy for a stable shot for small frame camcorders or still photography. Cons: -Pan lock is a little buried in the middle of the bridge.-Ball tightening grip and feet tightening levers are made of plastic. While still very study plastic I wish there was some type of metal for these key stress pointsPros:-Carrying case is well built. Strong stitching on seams and unique rubberized stitching on underside of shoulder strap. It helps keep the bag in place when not crossed over the head.-The legs come out smooth and even for easy lengthening or shortening on the go.-Fairly light for aluminum. Due in large part to the bridging design and plastic in some parts.

After experiencing the difference between this tripod and the multiple $99 models I have gone through over the years it's night/day ... definately worth the investment! My old tripods are now for sound gear, lights, and propping up misc accessories! The camera will be proudly perched on the Manfrotto!

If you are serious then this tripod is the ticket. I have purchased various brand tripod systems over 50 years, for many applications. This one is so right. This one is smartly built and it's quality of operation shows it. Bought the first two and so pleased am ordering another, immediately. Able to easily get smooth push or pull pans. Sets up easily. Great product. And it comes with a good quality carring bag. I love quality. Love this tripod and head. Sweet indeed! Sweet indeed!

Such a great set! Tripod is light weight making it great for production on the road or in the field. The fluid head is great, I can use it with a teleprompter or with a variety of camera rigs. Great value for the price. I even ordered a second one.

Comments about Manfrotto MVH502A Fluid Head and 546B Tripod System with Carrying Bag:

I bought my first one in 2011 and I love it so I decided to by another just recently and when it came it was the same great tripod and head( my grip gives me a hard time because it is heavy) I expected (By the way I bought this with the RC pan bar both times). The first bag however had no padding but fit the tripod and handle well. The most recent bag got me excited because it it padded and unzips down the entire length of the bag and not on the end like the first one but the tripod and handle just barely fit in the bag. It is a struggle to get it to zip and puts lots of stress on the zipper so I think that will probably fail. But all in all I really like this tripod and would buy it again.

So lightweight and at the same time so tough, a bit tricky to set up due to that middle expanding system that is a pain in the butt but something you can deal with, it's tall, in good material, well done Manfrotto!
