Comments about Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC Lens for Sony E-Mount:

This lens is super wide and sharp. It takes really good pictures of entire interior rooms, and does really well with landscape photos. It is totally manual with no electronic connection to camera, but that didn't bother me at all. Really glad I got it before my vacation to Arizona.

Comments about Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC Lens for Sony E-Mount:

This 14mm Rokinon works really well on my Sony A7R for landscape work, at a fraction of the price of the other lenses in this focal range. My only complaint is that with the built in E-mount adapter (it's bigger than the lens pictured above) it might be a little bulky/heavy for a prime lens that doesn't have autofocus or image stabilization, but not a dealbreaker for me.

Comments about Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC Lens for Sony E-Mount:

This lens is all about expectations and about how exactly you plan to use it, specially because of the tricky manual focus.
Night sky/Milky way at f/2.8: Perfect, wide angle and fast. You will be on tripod so take your time to adjust manual focus. Use magnification. If you want foreground illuminated and in focus, do a composite.
Landscape on tripod at F/8+: Great for same reasons above. Soft focus and shallow DOF wont be a problem at f8 and above.
Landscape handheld: At 2.8 sharpness is too soft. If you don't have enough light for a higher aperture value, simply don't try it. I can see this is where a lot of people is complaining.
Architecture: Same as with Landscape with huge distortion (perhaps you like it). It won't work well for low light and handheld.
Bottomline: I see this as a tripod only lens. If your camera does not any focus aid, like peaking or magnification, then it will be very tough.

Fantastic lens!! Especially considering the price. Constructions feels solid, focus ring is precise and butter smooth. It can be little soft at 2.8 but once closed down a few stops it is about as sharp as any other wide angle I've ever used. What ever distortion and vignetting there is can be easily corrected by downloading a LR lens profile.

Comments about Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC Lens for Sony E-Mount:

Excellent value for the money. Yes, it does work on the full frame Sony A7 or A7R! On these cameras, it is a true 14mm ultrawide vs. 21mm equivalent you might get on APS-C like NEX. The other Rokinon/Samyang wide angles (10mm, 12mm and 16mm) are designed for APS-C and will seriously vignette on full frame cameras. Also, this lens is a retrofocus design, so there are none of the problems that might happen with some of the other ultrawide manual lenses where the rear element is much closer to the sensor (e.g., smearing and color shift in the corners). The tradeoff is that this is a large and somewhat heavy lens. I have found this lens relatively sharp across the frame. It maintains its rectilinear rendering well for such a wide angle. This is a fully manual lens with no electronic connection to the camera.

Comments about Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC Lens for Sony E-Mount:

Bought the lens and tried it with the Sony A7R, a full frame camera. In the centre of the lens, about 60 % of the sensor surface is sharp. The rest, around the edges, the image is very soft and blurry. There is also a bit of chromatic aberration.
