Bottom Line is, I would recommend this camera to anyone starting out with DSLR. As well as, any pro who needs a beater to do time lapse, and for anyone considering a Mirrorless for the compactness of street photography. I got this camera because someone stole my D3200. It's the best value for a DSLR, and I use it for 4K time-lapse, video, and street photography. No crook is going to deny me of my photography. PROS: I like the color depth, the video mode of 60p at full HD that captures a lot more data for processing than the D3200 and D7100. And it may sound cheesy but I really like the Easy Panorama function. Also, 24mpx sensor captures huge JPEG files for time-lapse processing. And for RAW files, side by side testing with my D7100 in 12bit mode, both have identical image quality: I guess due to the No OLP filter. However, the 14bit losses file of the D7100 captures more data and is way better for processing dramatic colors and dynamic range. CONS: A little less dynamic range than the D3200, no hot shoe cover, and no viewfinder cover. Also, the newer kit lens is ideal smaller and faster than the older 18-55mm VR kit lens, the older kit lens is a little sharper wide open. I don't know if it's just this lens, but I find the older/larger 18-55 kit VR kit lens a little better in image quality. Anyway, IMO Nikon has always made the best low cost DSLR. It is packed with a lot of modern features for a great price. And this huge paragraph is written this way because, my reviews are not displayed with paragraphs, even though I write it proper. FYI, if you do time-lapse in JPEG, you can get over 1300 shots out of one battery charge.

A lightweight and easy camera to operate. The quick start guide in the instruction book was all I needed to be out photographing right away.

The 18-55 mm lens is adequate for most close up or immediate shots. I long for more accuracy in distance photos with this lens, but with the auto settings it works fine.

Overall, the camera is a mobile, all around good camera to begin with. If you long for more precise pictures, pick up better lenses and specialty items.

    I bought this for my little sister as she starts out as a photographer and we've seen such amazing results. This is her first professional camera, and it's so easy to use, relatively light weight and the photos are crisper than we expected. Very happy with this camera!

        Comments about D3300 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):

        I bought this camera as an all-purpose small and light still camera about one and half years ago from B&H. Since my purchase, I have shot more than 40K images. The sensor in this body is exactly the same sensor used in more expensive D5500 and D7200 but with only 12-bit compressed raw limitation for raw capture, which is absolutely fine for what I do.

        I have used it shooting landscapes, close-ups, portraits, wedding/event coverage. But my primary use is for my personal use and for hiking/travel. I like the kit lens so much and I have used the kit lens on my D810 occasionally for paid work and that tells you how good I think it is.

        The camera has wonderful battery life and just two batteries allows me to shoot all day in regular weather conditions. This camera loves high quality glasses. You can get much much better image quality if you mate it with better glasses, such as AF-S fast full-frame zooms.

        But it does have its limitations. First, I wish I had 100% viewfinder. Secondly, I wish it had brighter AF focus red light on the outer edge. Also, I wish it had a dedicated AF-S/AF-C switch.

        This is an amazing camera that offers the loudest bang for the buck.

        Comments about D3300 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):

        great camera, takes great pictures. does night time photography better then I was expecting {from what i read about crop sensor and nighttime photography}

        really is a great camera. I have taken lots of pictures with it still works great. love it.

        durable too, just a few weeks ago I accidentally dropped it {don;t recommend anyone do that} still works great.

        if you want to do timelapses or anythign like that you will need a shutter release with that function, {not a deal breaker for me}
        or if you want to do HDR you have to do it manually as their are no in camera options for it, {easy if you know what you are doing, you just need a tripod and be very careful when changing the settings as to not move the camera}

        overall I am very happy with this camera. the kit lens takes amazing pictures,

        if you where wondering about any entry level camera you wanted to get, look no further this camera is really good.

                  This is an all around good camera especially for those who are just getting into photography but also has some great pro features. The image quality is great even in low light. There is some noise when using high ISO but nothing compared to other cameras I have used. You can get good quality pictures even at a high ISO. Auto focus is not always that fast or accurate though there are times when I just switch it to manual focus because the auto focus is just not accurate enough.

                    Comments about D3300 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):

                    I've been using a D70 for the past 10 years. Finally upgraded to a modern DSLR and picked up a D3300. Initial thoughts are that the D3300 is much smaller and lighter, but it doesn't feel cheap and is still easy to hold and use. The LCD screen is big and bright and is as sharp as the retina screen on my iPhone, compared to the postage stamp sized screen on the D70 it's a wonderful change. Using my favorite lens (35mm DX 1.8G) the improvement in sharpness and detail over my D70 is astounding.

                    I usually leave it in Aperture Priority mode and I don't feel like the settings I need are buried deep in menus. It's easy to change the aperture with a spin of the wheel in back, and if I need to change the ISO setting I hold down Fn and spin the wheel. Those two moves cover most of the settings I need to quickly change, so no problem.

                    The 18-55 kit lens seems kind of weird with that that whole locking button and I don't much care for it. The excellent Nikkor 35mm DX 1.8 G prime will live on this new camera body most of the time.

                    Ten years of design evolution separate the D70 and D3300 and it clearly shows as the D70 rough edges and shortcomings have all been addressed in my opinion. Plus this kit cost 40% of what I paid for the D70 back in 2005. Nice work Nikon!

                    Also flawless ordering and super quick free 1 day shipping from B&H -- always my first stop for gear!
