I already owned the PL 25F1.4 when I ordered this (I got a deal I couldn't refuse). I've since sold it after just a few weeks for a net profit, but it's a fantastic lens. If I hadn't had the Panaleica, I would have surely kept it as a mainstay. Both lenses are great, and you are probably wondering how they compare. To most eyes the differences are minimal. Output is similar and both are great IQ and nice Bokeh. You'd have a hard time telling them apart really. The PL is a half stop faster, but is larger and has a big lens hood that is not reversible. The Oly is better looking and will fit in a pocket easier and weighs less. Looks nice on the EM5 or EPM2IF I didn't own one, I'd probably go with the Olympus. Smaller, cheaper, better looking (if it matters to you). The PL is a special lens, but the Olympus is very very close, if not equal. If you must have F1.4, well then you made up your mind. Combined with the EM5, it's amazing what you can get in low light with the Panny...the Olympus isn't far behind if at all though.Wait for a rebate from Olympus to get it cheaper.Pros:Smaller form factor than PanasonicGood low lightFast focusNice build quality (on par w/45mm)Comes w/Lens hoodPairs well with Pens or OMD camerasNice lookingCons:Lens ring could be lost potentially. Must be removed to use lens hood. (you won't need it that much though)

    not bad

Overall its a good, inexpensive and light lens. It also comes with a lens hood. However Im a bit disappointed as its seems to be a step down from the Pana 25 1.4

Comments about M.Zuiko Digital 25mm f/1.8 Lens (Black):

I recently purchased the Olympus Omd EM1 and so far have two lenses for it.. The Olympus 45mm f1.8 and the Olympus 25mm f1.8... I must say that I really love them both! Sharp, fast, beautiful images. They really excel in low light situations and the bokeh is delicious.. Highly recommend!

Comments about M.Zuiko Digital 25mm f/1.8 Lens (Black):

I have used Oly cameras and lenses for 30 years, and only recently, reluctantly, switched to digital. I have some of the really good 4/3 lenses that I used with adapters, but I wanted something small and light, but not toylike, for travel. I took a chance with this guy, and (sob) when I made 8 x 10 prints, using my OM-D EM-5 (stupid name; why isn't it the EM-1, and why did the EM-5 come before the EM-1?),the prints were as sharp as anything I made with Ektacolor and a Leica system. Dynamic range leaves something to be desired, but that's the sensor, not the lens.
I've only taken a couple of hundred exposures with it, but so far I've been very pleased.

I wanted to add a prime lens to my E-M5 before going on vacation and this was the perfect thing. Shots are consistently excellent from many distances; up close it can produce some razor-sharp detail with nice bokeh, and from a distance it provides clear, even coverage.Whites are brilliant and colors translate as expected; I've had to do very little post-processing in Lightroom. The only downside is occassionally slow AF in low-light situations.Highly recommended!

Comments about M.Zuiko Digital 25mm f/1.8 Lens (Black):

My current kit includes a 75 MM F 1.8 and a 12-40 pro. Although they do the job extremely well, I was stuck in situations where I wanted the shallow depth of field to not be too shallow. I tried achieving that with a 12-40 Pro, however, I felt I was unable to get the desired effect. This lens is fast, compact, provides sharp pictures and is generally the lens I leave on the camera on most times. I was tempted to get the Panasonic 25 MM F 1.4, but did not feel the need to dole out extra $$$ for the slightly larger aperture. Lastly, I did not purchase this from Olympus as their deals and promotions are not as attractive as some of the other retailers. I would have gladly submitted pictures to this review, but I am unsure if the website permits that in the review section.

I've used the Lumix/Leica 25/1.4 as well as this lens. The Olympus focuses faster and is considerably smaller. It also has a reversable hood, unlike the Leica. I find they're both good in terms of sharpness even at wide apertures.

I use this as I used a 50mm lens back in the day. the sharpness of this lens is very good even wide open in the center. I've mainly used it so far for people pictures so i've not pixel peeped the corners. I did do a few test shots. The corner sharpness is quite good by f4.0. Build quality is quite good for a lens at this price point.

Comments about M.Zuiko Digital 25mm f/1.8 Lens (Black):

I own an Olympus E-M5 and the kit 12-50mm lens. That's a fine lens, but it's a little slow (it's 3.5-6.3 aperture), and I decided to get this lens (the 25mm) as my second lens and first prime on the system, after extensive comparisons with the Panasonic-Leica 25mm. I've used this lens almost exclusively since then and have taken a couple hundred pictures with it, and I love almost everything about it. Especially in tandem with the E-M5, the size is great; it's very, very sharp, even wide open; it has nice bokeh and micro-contrast; maximum aperture of 1.8, so great for low-ISO, low-lighting shots; great build quality; fast autofocus; etc. The only real flaw is that I wish the lens cap was stiffer - it came unlatched once in my case - but with the lens hood on of course that isn't an issue. If you're deciding between this and the Leica, I'd say get this. It's smaller and lighter with almost indistinguishable quality for less money. The 2/3 stop difference is, according to more in-depth reviews, more like a 1/3 stop difference, and personally that is negligible. Eventually, it's likely I'll get another high-quality lens covering this focal length, but I'll still keep this lens; the combination of size and image quality is unbeatable.

Comments about M.Zuiko Digital 25mm f/1.8 Lens (Black):

This is a great, fast and small lens. It would have been nice to have the same auto-manual 'pull' on the lens but that is easily overcome through the camera settings.

Lens is light weight and gives excellent image quality. Build quality is plastic and not as nice as the 17mm 1.7. Great that the lens comes with a hood at no added cost and is easy to attach.

This lens is small, light, and extremely sharp. This is a must-have for micro 4/3 in my opinion. It makes usable images at 1.8.

Comments about M.Zuiko Digital 25mm f/1.8 Lens (Black):

I use it with EM1 for indoor so far for a number of days. I use it to take baby photos and videos. The focus speed is very fast. My cousin brought a canon Eos-M to shoot photos, before he can focus on the subject, I already took 5 photos with sharp focus....

Large aperture, meaning less ISO needed whens shooting with low light conditions. That is great for u43, when higher ISO tends to smear the pixels.

I wish that it is weather sealed to match the em1 body and it has metal finish and manual focus ring like the f2.8 pro 12-40mm. But I guess the price would increase significantly.

Overall, no complaints on the optical quality and focusing speed.

To start this lens was bigger than i thought but in a good way. It has heft to it so it does not feel cheap. AF is quick and accurate even in low light so chances are you wont miss a shot. The colors that are rendered out of it are really pleasing to the eye. Good contrast in colors. Overall a good lens in exception to it have rattle snaking once or twice.
