Comments about PocketWizard Receiver Module for Select Bowens Monolights:

Once installed, I don't think about these much, except when I remember how much freedom I have using my monolights. I am usually shooting in a small space, so I often don't need to install the antennas; I'll generally remember only when when a strobe fails to fire after I've moved back at least 10 feet.

I have three of these, one for each of my strobes, though I suspect most (all?) users, including myself, could get away with one and use the optical trigger on the other two. While these aren't programmable, the MiniTT1 I use as a trigger IS, and I was able to adjust the timing to get a decent "HyperSync" image (higher shutter speed than the natural sync speed) with my 5DmkIII by following the PocketWizard directions, albeit with the requisite darkening gradient.

These can be a little finicky to install, as there are two rows of pins on the receivers, and the plastic guides between the body of the receivers and strobe housing aren't very precise. One of the three receivers pins were mis-aligned, and I spent about half an hour gingerly "bending" them with the edge of a credit card until it connected without undue force.

In the end it's hard to argue with the convenience these provide, and while I'd like to see better quality out of the pin alignment, I consider the effort I needed to put into the installation perfectly worth it for the wireless freedom.

I purchased two PW with my Gemini 750 Pro light kit. The Receiver Module took two minutes to install and works perfectly with my PW-3s and Sekonic meter. I love the ease of use

            Wow. all i can say!
I tried to install this in my Bowens Gemini 750 and it would not fit.
I called Pocket Wizard and they are OFF THE CHART helpful. Turns out my Bowens in an older model and was eligible for a free upgrade. I shipped it to PW, they modified it and shipped it back!
            now THAT is service

Comments about PocketWizard Receiver Module for Select Bowens Monolights:

I purchased a few of these modules for use with the Bowens Gemini 500 Pro PW series monolights. I am new to the Pocket Wizard system and found the setup of these units to be faultless and easy, right out of the box. The "learn" procedure--connecting the Pocket Wizard transceiver with the modules and assigning a separate zone to each one--worked perfectly on the first try (unlike a lot of electronics!). I like the fact that the Bowens lights have a covered compartment for the modules so that, once installed, the modules can stay in place, safely tucked away from bumps and jarring.

Comments about PocketWizard Receiver Module for Select Bowens Monolights:

I was very excited to hear about this new product and immediately purchased a pair for my two Bowens 500Pro monolights that currently use PocketWizard FlexTT5 for remote operation. It was disappointing to find out, however, that this PocketWizard receiver module does not fit the slot on the monolight. The twelve pins on the module are shifted to the left side about 1 mm. Because of the restriction of the guiding grooves in the slot, it is impossible to make any side way adjustment in order to insert the twelve pins into the female end in the slot. Called B&H, the return is very easy. Also called the lab/distribution center as suggested by B&H. I was told that I need to ship in my two monolights for them to make modifications on both my lights and the module, for which I need to pay all the expense. This is the first time for me to see an add-on products/accessories that require modification of original products. Very disappointed indeed.

It does not fit Bowens monolights.

Comments about PocketWizard Receiver Module for Select Bowens Monolights:

I bought one pair of this module for my two Bowens 500Pro after reading the overview of this product that says compatible with Bowens Gemini C, R, & Pro-Series Monolights. I got them quickly from B&H. But it cannot be insert into the place because the twelve pins on the module are shifted about 1 mm to the left. Because the guiding grooves in the slot, it is impossible to make any adjustment. Called B&H and return was not a problem. As suggested by B&H, I called Mac Group about this issue. They told me that modification has to be done for all Bowens monolights in order to use this module. They claimed that this module would not work for any Bowens monolights without the actual monolights being modified. They suggest I ship my monolights to them at my own expense and also need to pay $25 for modification for each of my monolights. Do I believe them? Not a bit. These are simply faulty products. I just don't believe PocketWizard would produce and release the product by design not compatible to Bowens products but claim it would in the product description. Apparently they want to transfer the expense of correcting their problem onto the consumers. I guess not all of the PocketWizard module for Bowens in the market are faulty given the first reviewer's great experience listed on this site. Maybe I just bought the modules from a bad lot.
