If you spend ANY time at all researching this bag it quickly becomes clear that it's one of a kind.

I pride myself on spending at least a few months researching before making any important purchases. The reality is there just weren't any other bags out that seemed to be able to match the F2.

Stunning reviews aside I was skeptical. Buzz is sometimes just that... buzz.

I'm please to say that it's not just hype.

Inside my F2 I carry:

- D90
- 18-200mm VR
- 50mm
- 10.5mm Fisheye
- SB800 Speedlight
- 13 inch Macbook Unibody
- Extra batteries, wires, manuals, etc
- Back up GRD III
- Fujifilm Instax w/ a bunch of extra film (Great for giving away with your business card when you're doing an event! Give people something they WANT to keep haha)
- Bose Headphones and and my ipod.

Basically my point here is that all of my "need to have" gear and electronics go in this bag. AND I trust them in it.

I run around to different clubs and events in Shanghai and this bag barely gets a second look.

Get it.

**Remember that this bag is low on padding and things can slide around. I use a camera wrap and a few other little bags/boxes to house things.

I am not clear why so many pros like this. I guess I will be the lone dissenter. On the outside it is a beautiful bag with dimensions that are PERFECT! And nice huge pockets.
But:
1) The 4 lens insert is too small for the width of many pro lenses with reversed hoods, any lens with a hood bigger than about 3" (this excludes Canon 70-200L F4, 24-70, 24-105, 24L, 100L, any many other pro medium size lenses). Maybe 1 can be fit, but not 2-4. You can remove the hoods, but then there is no place to put the hoods. If you jam them in there with the hoods on, it will stretch to fit, but you won't be able to get them out, and a 5DII will then be too tight in the camera compartment.

2) With the insert installed, the remaining space is not large enough for a pro body with a lens on (1Dx, D3x). Who carries a bag like this around without a lens mounted. It is certainly not a bag designed for transport (little padding). It must it must be for active use.

3) With the insert installed a 5DII, D700, or cropper will fit with a medium lens (lens pointing down). But there are no dividers to stabilize it or to utilize the space around the lens. And, it is not quite big enough to leave a quick release plate mounted.

4) If you forgo the insert, there is not enough Velcro mounted to place your own divider system. So that means you have to individually encase the lenses for protection. This ruins any fast access to lenses.

5) The "military grade" clasps are horrendous. They are sharp and awkward and time-consuming. They'd be fine for attaching a shoulder strap, but not for frequent access. They are sewed on. And, in my opinion mount backwards with easier clasping action then unclasping action. And while intending to keep caps on lenses in the case, if they fall off accidentally or you are in the process of changing lenses, the metal clasps can damage the lenses.

6) If you don't like the shoulder strap, tough luck, it is sewed on. You could cut it off and mount your own on the D-rings. Really?

7) I don't see any way to use this bag with a larger zoom lens like a 70-200 2.8 or 100-400.

Bag sizing is a highly personal taste. But, I think a good test of a bag in this size class is to get a F2.8 kit, a prime, and and a flash, plus a few accessories (ie 14-24, 24-70, 70-200, 1-2 specialty pro prime (TS-E, 24L, 50L, 85L, 135, etc), and a 5D or D700 camera. This one fails miserably.

The perfect size on the outside. But to carry what? Certainly not a pro camera kit.

Comments about F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Sand):

I carry a couple of LUMIX GX1 bodies and several lenses with me. this bag is perfect for fitting all the gear I need and it is very impressively made. Very think material, good straps and great hardware are practical and beautiful at the same time.

The big bonus is the B&H price is a bargain for what you get in excellent product that will last for years and years.

I really can find much to complain about it just is a natural for me. Like most photographers, I am a camera bag collector. this one is a real keeper.

Comments about F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Sand):

Used to carry full kit anywhere, anytime. Took many years of alternate means and methods to finally try one and it's everything it promises. The material is just what's needed to accommodate a bit extra or a bit less kit without collapsing or being impossible to move about yet doesn't collapse when lifting a twenty pound load by the shoulder strap or internal clip-on strap handle. And it still forms to the body well enough when carried over the shoulder. Truly well designed unlike many many others I've tried over the years. There's seemingly no limit to what can be done with the limited number of pockets which are few but no fewer than necessary, a welcome change from the typical endless lint collectors in so many other products. The clasps aren't as the original but they're serviceable and with the appropriate adjustment to their strap length they're easily operated with one hand with some practice. The top won't fit as tightly as it might otherwise but the hook and loop will keep it as tightly closed as needed even if the clasps' straps aren't pulled tight, that can be done for transport or storage and readily loosened for live work as needed. The sewn-in shoulder strap is a huge plus in that it wraps around the entire bag and given the stout material used it isn't going to fail sooner than the bag itself. Since it runs across the bottom of the bag it acts also as a means of avoiding excess wear on the bag material itself, a clever feature. No worries about skidding it about on rough ground or concrete or brick, etc. All in all a justifiably brilliant and classic design I wish I'd acquired a long time ago.

The Domke F-2 is a workhorse bag. A classic choice for pros and amateurs. I bought my first F-2 in the '80s and love this bag. It has everything you want from an organization stand-point. It isn't the most padded bag but it gets the job done.

Comments about F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Sand):

The construction of this bag on so many levels can simply not be beat (especially at this price point). It also looks great and is extremely functional. This bag is not as large as I thought it was going to be based on its description and photo. That however is on me because I could have simply measured out the dimensions before purchasing this. I would agree with other reviewers that didn't feel like 2 dslrs and 4 lenses can fit in this bag. It's probably more like 1 dslr w/attached medium length lens and hood along with 4 additional lenses with attached hoods as long as the lenses aren't longer than for example a nikkor dx 55-300 (I guess you might be able to get 2 camera bodies in here if the lenses were not attached and you did not place them face down). Given the bag's size and build, I can now clearly see why it is called a shooter's bag. It is designed for somebody that doesn't want to just walk around with a camera and attached lens on a strap but rather somebody that literally wants to be able to basically walk around and have the ability to work out of the bag (just like the description says). I was looking for a larger bag to carry gear to and from shoot locations and store gear at home instead of a "walk around bag" but again, that is on me. With all that being said, I am glad I purchased this bag. For what it is, it is a great item to have in your arsenal. I have been using it constantly and I am finding that it is easy to use, durable, protect my gear and keeps me organized. If you truly want a larger bag then consider a larger Domke because this bad boy is quality. If you don't need something larger than how I described this bag, then go ahead and pull the trigger on this. You will not be disappointed.

Comments about F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Black):

I've only used this bag for a short time but have flown cross country with it and have been very happy with the design, materials and workmanship. The bag is very convertible in the main compartment with easily adjustable inserts to customize space for your own needs. The abundance of external pockets (two on ends with own closures, two under bag flap and one within bag flap and one larger open pocket on the back) is very helpful for organizing. The metal clips - while a bit slow to get open if you need quick access (I gave that as a negative even though it's not a problem unless you shoot on the fly and don't want to keep your gear around your neck) - offer the best security I've yet found in a camera bag. I have had no issues with the non-slip strap. It's held very well to my coats, shirts and a sweatshirt. Highly recommend this bag - go ahead and shop around because you're not going to find a better (or even as good) bag at anywhere close to this price.

Comments about F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Sand):

My first F2 bag was bought back in 1989, and was fully loaded with all the old gear. Nikon F4's and prime lenses. Then it was loaded with fast zooms, then onto Canon Eos gear. Used this bag in the Gulf war, Desert Storm. It stood up to everything, and my gear has always been safe. 25 years later, the bag is still with me, frayed and weather beaten, but Velcro and locks all working like new. I thought it time to buy another F2, this time in Sand. The F2 comfortably holds a Fuji XPRO-1, XE-1, X100, 14,35,18/55 & 55/200, plus a Sony RX100 & Lee filters, SD cards etc etc etc.Love this bag.

I switched from a Canon backpack to the old Domke standby and I'm glad I did. It's easier to get in and out of the bag in a hurry (I don't have to set it down). It's more secure. It has ample space. And the strap is very comfortable.

I wore through an F-2 years ago, and replaced it with a J-1 in ballistic nylon--nice, but too bulky and heavy when loaded with everything. I bought this F-2 to carry some lenses and a body on short hikes, and it's a perfect size. My only regret is that the accessory shoulder pad was out of stock when I bought the F-2. I'm waiting for the strap to break in and soften soon--it's a little stiff and rough over a t-shirt when brand new.

Comments about F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Olive Drab):

I was looking for something that wasn't overly large, but could still comfortably fit my 5D3 and a selection of lenses while keeping everything accessible (I hate having to dig for gear). I've got the 5D3 with Sigma 50/1.4 Art attached, Canon 16-35/4L IS, Canon 70-200/4L IS, Zeiss ZE 100/2 Makro-Planar, and the Canon 40/2.8 STM Pancake. I could easily move the Canon 40 to one of the front or side pockets and put an additional lens in the main body. Something to note for Canon shooters - the 70-200/4L IS is a perfect fit height-wise with the hood reversed (check included pic).

The bag is well constructed, stitching and material feel very sturdy. If I have one issue, it's the included shoulder strap doesn't come with a pad.

Oh, and while I do like the "Olive Drab" colour, it still looks like a camera bag (which is no big issue). If you want something a little more inconspicuous, go with a messenger-style bag.

As a working professional I need function over fashion and no other bag give you more pure functionality than Domke. I've used these bags since the days when Jim Domke was stitching them in his basement. They were great then and they're great today. Every thing has its place and it all fits like a glove. I have enough room in this bag to carry three mirrorless Fuji bodies and almost their entire range of lenses – 14; 18; 23; 35; 56; 10-24; 18-55 and 55-200. I also carry extra batteries, SD card case, flashlight, lanyard, business cards, moleskin notebook, cable release; lens cloth and a Fuji flash. Other bags may look fancier, but nothing works better. Period. At the end of the day that's all that matters.

Comments about F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Olive Drab):

Have tried many different bags. Finally keep only 3: 1 roller case for events, 1 waistpack/backpack for backpacking, and 1 Domke F2 for everything else.

Einstein said, "Everything should be designed as simple as possible, but not simpler." The Domke F2 is exactly it.

I carry 2 D800's with 35 1.4 and 85 1.4 attached, plus whatever extras needed on different occasions.

I think the olive green fits me best. That's all.

Get the Domke 720-250D insert. Place the base plate inside this insert. BAM!

I ordered this bag secretly hoping that I would be able to deliver on all that it promised and still be functional to carry. It is perfect! It has so much space so that when I expand my collection of equipment, I will still be able to use the same bag. It's also easy to carry. Thanks Domke. This bag rocks!

I love how easy it is the transport around my camera gear and change lens while shooting. A great size to carry around. I got this bag because of its quality and popularity with professionals.

Comments about F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Sand):

The F-2 Domke bag is the perfect size for my photo gear. I fill it with my Olympus EM-5 (mirror-less camera) and six lenses. There's plenty of room left over for accessories.

I use this setup as a go-to bag in the back of my SUV. It's perfect as a storage bag when I'm on the road - just pop open the SUV'S tailgate, pull what I need out of the bag, transfer that stuff into a smaller bag - and I'm on my way walking to a nearby photo scene!

This bag is beautifully made - typical for Domke. It's perfectly designed for all photography situations, and the amount of equipment it holds is amazing! It has my highest recommendation.

Comments about F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Black):

This is my second Domke bag. I have the smaller, F 3, as well. When I recently went full frame, I found my original bag wasn't big enough for the D700 with the 24-70 lens attached. I read the reviews and decided to purchase another Domke bag because I felt so comfortable with my original bag, which still is in use with my D300s. The reason for 4 stars is that the 4 pocket insert doesn't work well with the lens on the body, so I purchased the 2 section insert. With the 2 compartment insert, I can get the camera with the lens on, plus two other lenses. The end pockets have plenty of room for flashes, charge cords, cleaning supplies, etc.
