Comments about Tamrac 759 Photo and Computer Backpack:

I bought the 759 to, more or less, replace the used 697 rolling backpack I've had for 18 months or so. The 697 rolling backpack is good as a roller, but only so-so as a backpack. In comparison, the 759 holds about 66% of the gear, but is much better as a backpack. It's a lot deeper than I thought, much closer to cube shaped than the pictures suggest, but it's still a manageable size. It holds more than enough gear for most occasions while remaining a reasonable weight. The S.A.S. & M.A.S options add a great deal of flexibility/specialization.

Like all of the Made In USA Tamrac products this is extremely well-made. You just feel secure when you put your gear in these products. The seams all look bullet-proof, the zippers are smooth as silk (LOCKABLE on the main compartment), and the straps are very well-padded. With the internal dividers and external straps/buckles all completely adjustable, with a little time you can create a totally customized set-up that best for you personally. I have a Tamrac Zoom Traveller 6 bag that I bought in 2002, and it still works perfectly (and looks great). I'm sure that in 11 years I'll still be using the 759 Backpack.

I have only two quibbles with the 759 . First, as an older model, it's pockets are sized for obsolete media–can you even buy 3.5" diskettes anymore? Admittedly, that's a very minor flaw. A bit more significant is that the computer compartment is at the rear of the backpack, up against the carrier's spine. Since a human's back isn't flat, this can apply uneven force on a notebook computer, and this torque force can flex the machine (NOT good for a logic board). Again, it's not a huge flaw. All in all, I'm very happy with the backpack and I'm sure I'll be using it often.

Comments about Tamrac 759 Photo and Computer Backpack:

I used this bag to go all over the world for eleven years. Foam finally breaking down. Buying another 759 now. Never challenged by airlines as" too big for carry on". Holds tons of 35mm or Medium format gear. Keeps 15 inch powerbooks very safe. Great front pockets for organizing "office on the road". M.A.S. sidepockets (not included) increase capacity even more. Made in the U.S.A. ! Excellent ergonomics. Stitching never gives out. Smoothest zippers , never bind. Great for day trips in wilderness, fully loaded, in snowshoes. Can be used to stabilize long lens shots in a pinch. Ballistic vest if worn on front, (okay, I didnt actually try that one).

This appears to be a very well organized and sturdy backpack..it was a little to deep for me. Lots of compartments and plenty of storage!

Comments about Tamrac 759 Photo and Computer Backpack:

I bought the item to use when traveling, as my true back packing days are behind me.
I was a bit skeptical at first, but after really getting it adjusted and comfortable, it felt great to wear and use.
Plenty of room inside, 5D, 20D, flash, 70-200, 19-38, and spare 24-200 lens all went in, no problem; with plenty of room for all your other junk.
I didn't think it was cheap, but I'm pleased.
