I purchased this along with my Sigma SD14 at the same time. This turned out to be a great general purpose lens with consistent performance.

Comments about 28mm f/1.8 EX Aspherical DG DF Macro Autofocus Lens for Sigma SLR Camera:

Although lacking some newer and more expensive features like image stabilization and HSM focusing, the lens delivers excellent image quality, macro focusing, and at a very attractive price. I use it primarily on a Sigma SD14 DSLR camera and although early in my experience with this lens, it seems to perform reliably and produces very attractive photos from macro through "normal" FOV to landscape. Especially helpful is the lower light capability offered by the f1.8 lens speed. One oddity or benefit is the feature requiring a switch and focus ring lock to switch between AF and MF operation - presumably to protect the AF mechanism.

Comments about 28mm f/1.8 EX Aspherical DG DF Macro Autofocus Lens for Sigma SLR Camera:

Focus is sharp (and fast) through all f-stops, all the way to the edges. No front-focusing issues on my Nikon like some reviews (Canon) mention. Solid lens, though a bit surprising at the size (same size and weight as my 18-135mm zoom).

        Better each day

Comments about 28mm f/1.8 EX Aspherical DG DF Macro Autofocus Lens for Sigma SLR Camera:

I got this little guy last week and have been shootingnon-stop with it. I did a shoot for a festival a few daysago and it gave me some truly happy photos. It's a wee bitslow on the autofocus at times, but that f/1.8 is sure nice. Really sharp, and since I have a 20D, it acts like a 45mm,almost a 50mm, which makes for a great walk-around lens. Ifyou're interested in a really huge aperture and a good allpurpose lens, take a look at this one. I'm loving it moreand more each day I use it. Oh yeah, they include a lens hood! Always a plus. Canonnever throws in fun things like that....

Problems Encountered: Again, a bit slow on the autofocus (I'm used to Canon'sUSM), but not bad, and it's really easy to manual focus.

Previous Equivalent Items Owned: Canon 50mm FD (oldschool, but I miss it...)
