This is a very high quality bag to go along with the very high price. But the value is equal to or greater than the price. Mine is black canvas with black leather for an understated look that doesn't attract too much attention. To begin, it's an extremely light bag to carry, so when loaded with equipment, the bag is lighter than most I've tried. Then there's the quality. The canvas has a wonderful soft feel that's simply a pleasure to carry. My kit consists of a Fujifilm X-E2 with a mounted 23mm lens, a 14mm lens, a 55-200mm lens, a gorilla pod and various other sundry items. And room for plenty more, but I don't like a heavy carry. I've read in various places that the bag will not accept a laptop larger than a 13" MacBookPro. On a recent trip to NYC, it easily held the above kit + a 15" MacBook Pro. I've also carried my Nikon kit consisting of a D800 with a mounted 24-70mm lens, a 70-200mm lens and a 60mm micro lens. This was a tighter fit, but it fit. However, you'll have to hire a schlepper if you need to walk all day with this kit (just my opinion.) I've owned other Billinghams, an L2 and a 550. They shrug off use and abuse and just keep looking great.

Perfect size for my Fuji X-E2 and 3 lenses. Amazing quality and very comfortable to wear. I've been buying camera bags for the better part of 40 years now, and I'm done. This is the last bag I'll ever buy as this thing will outlast my grandkids and look great doing it!

Camera bag quest finished

Comments about Hadley Pro Special Edition Shoulder Bag (Burgundy Canvas & Chocolate Leather):

I use this as a camera bag for a Leica M, and as a work bag on occasion. It's a classy bag of superb quality that gets the job done. Don't let the underwhelming pic of the burgundy version fool you either--this piece is amazing when you see it in person.

What great bag!!! I have a few but this one is very comfortable! The material that it's made out of makes the bag very very light! Big plus! I can carry my Fuji X-T1 and X-XE2 without a problem, an extra lens if I need to. The bag looks small but it can hold a great deal. BIG BIG PLUS is that it's water proof!!

I truly love this bag. It holds much more than it would appear to. Easy to access and comfortable to wear. I have a large Lowepro bag that holds everything but this is the bag I pack for just what I want to have for a particular day. Looks great without screaming pricey camera gear inside.

Comments about Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag (Sage FibreNyte & Chocolate Leather):

The quality and appearance of the Billingham Hadley Pro camera bag lives up to the best reviews. I was interested in the Sage/Chocolate version, but concerned about the true color of the image portrayed on B&H. I read the Hadley Small 'Blog' article by Donovan Bond (donovandond.co.) and thought the sage appeared darker especially in the first two views (front & side) certainly far, far darker than the image on the B&H site. So, I reached out to B&Hʻs customers hearing back from: Robert, Jason, Kang-Wei, Dave, David, and James, all of whom sang the Hadley Proʻs praises. Robert said it was more of a forest green and worth every cent though I would agree more with James. Itʻs more of an olive green. Itʻs a fabulous shade of olive, certainly not the faded washed out appearance shown on B&H nor is it ʻforestʻ having, what I see as a touch of gray to it. The chocolate leather is simply beautiful. Youʻll love the massive expandable front pockets. The brass fixtures, fine buckles, and Billingham branded rear zipper pull are of outstanding quality. The fit, finish, and sewing on my bag are what one would expect of a $[$]bag. James wanted the shoulder strap to be removable, but owning several Timbuk2 messenger bags, this didn't bother me at all. You would appreciate knowing that the shoulder strap webbing and grab handle are a very complimentary shade of green. They are not khaki as they appear in loads of images. The handle is supported by a bar hidden between the layers of the fibrenyte. The fibrenyte feels great to the touch and the top opens, folding back effortlessly allowing you to get to your gear. The green padded ʻlidʻ of the snap-in insert still covers your stuff. The removable insert could be placed in another bag in order to use the Hadley Pro other than as a camera bag. Oh, Billingham additionally includes a nice bag for storing your Hadley when not in use which will keep the dust off it. There is storage space in the two very ample front pockets and around the green padded insert. The rear zippered pocket is great too and protected by its own little rain flap. If you make ʻthe plungeʻ youʻre going to love the Hadley Pro, but aren't going to want to get it dirty and with it's construction, will certainly last years and years. Did I say years? This bag seems tailor made for my growing Fujifilm X family. Certainly larger cameras will fit... Check out what Kai Wong and Lok Cʻs Billingham bags have room for on DigitalRev TV. Itʻll hold bunches! Downsides? Well, $260 is a lot, but the quality is awesome and youʻre getting a handsome handmade English camera bag. I wish it had a few extra pockets, on the inside would be nice (the green insert snaps in front.) Photogs love pockets! The bag comes with two long and two short dividers. Okay, I could use another small one. Lastly, Billingham, as I see it you do have one ʻproblemʻ with the Hadley. Itʻs the Hadley Small. Actually itʻs price. The Hadley Pro costs $260 and the Hadley Small costs $236. I canʻt advise someone to purchase it. Really, $24 more for the Hadley Pro???!!! The canvas ONA Bowery costs $149. Yeah, the Hadley Small is a bit larger and has 4 insert dividers, but the Hadley is not considered a ʻfashionʻ bag as is the ONA. Iʻd suggest selling the Hadley Small at $[$]to say $[$] (tops). To me, $236 for the Hadley Small priced itself out of being a viable small bag though I'm sure it sells well. Iʻd been delighted to have ʻem both, butʻll have to settle with just one... the Hadley Pro in Sage/Chocolate.

Comments about Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag (Black Canvas & Leather):

I have purchased several Billingham bags from B&H over the years and they are extremely wekk made, functional and durable. My other bags are Khaki with the tan trim and I needed something that I could use for work as well as photography so I purchased this bag in black canvas with the black leather trim. I can easily carry my laptop, eyeglasses, 5x7 notepad as well as my Fuji x30 or Fuji x100T in it. Having a camera with me at all times is essential and the Hadley Pro allows me to carry my camera with me on business trips or jaunts into NYC for work or pleasure. I am sure that this bag will serve me for anoter 35+ years.

My only wish is that the shoulder pad came with the bag as it is somewhat necessary for heavier loads.

Thank you B&H for outstanding service and great prices.

Comments about Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag (Sage FibreNyte & Chocolate Leather):

I bought this after speaking to B&H and looking at reviews. I needed a quality bag that I could comfortably carry on my shoulder containing a Fuji xt1 system of four fuji lenses including the largish 50-140 zoom. So far it seems to be exactly what I had hoped in terms of quality and function. My only complaint is that the padded shoulder strap is not included as standard and B&H does not offer additional Billingham dividers which would also be helpful.

Comments about Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag (Sage FibreNyte & Chocolate Leather):

The bag is everything that people say that it is. It is beautifully finished, the materials are of the highest quality, the styling is classic and impeccable. It is the quintessential walk around bag for those who hold highly the value of finely crafted goods at a fair price. There are, of course, far more expensive bags, bags with more pockets, bags with better organizing systems, and arguably better looking bags; however, in my opinion, there are few bags that give you so much for the price.

            What it lacks:
-true utilitarian usefulness: it is effectively one vertical loading compartment, two bucket-like front pockets, and one document-sized zippered pocket.
-drop proof padding: the padding is good, not great. You won't need to worry about bumping into walls, or setting the bag down quickly, but if the bag falls on a bottom corner, something is taking a hit.
-a shoulder pad: ok this is nit pick, and many might like that they can purchase the bag $50 cheaper than if they had included it, but I would likr to not have to have that be an add-on. Just this reviewer's opinion.
-either some brass standoffs or leather bottom: again, a nit-pick, but I would like something that took the brunt on the wear on the bottom. not really an issue for fibrenyte, which really is a sweet material.

And those are really the only shortcomings I've come across for my style of shooting. Now, what it is for me:

I'm a street and candid event photographer. I carry 3-4 lenses max, usually only one body, a flash and some filters, batteries, cards. My equipment:
            fuji x-t1 with battery grip
            xf 35mm 1.4
xf 50-140mm 2.8 (in padded sleeve with hood)
            xf 10-24mm 4 (with hood)
Cactus RF60 flash in case (it's big)
            Cactus V6 flash tranceiver
3 B+W 72mm filters and step down ring
            3 extra batteries
            small charger
            lens cleaner
            SD card case
            sunglasses
            wallet
            iPhone 6+
            moleskine notebook

With all of that, I can still pack in another smaller prime lens. And that is all of body and lenses, flash, and trigger in the main compartment. and room to spare with the padded flap down. With all the mentioned accessories in the front pockets and maybe taking up a quarter of the available space. This bag is deceptively big, and perfect for the fuij X system. Not only will it fit all of that while maintaining a svelt appearance, but it is remarkably comfortable. I do not notice and digging if the strap into my shoulder. this could be due to the softer nature of the thick webbing.

On top of that, the bag looks great. I ended up with the sage fibrenyte as I couldn't find the black fibrenyte anywhere in the states. the sage is far more refined than I had imagined (with the chocolate straps). Although I do like the "english gentleman" look of the tan or green, I was concerned about standing out, and the black just seeming more sleek and refined. No problems with the sage/chocolate combo. It is as comfortable on a grey suit as it is on tweed hunting jacket. The fibrenyte material is also very nice. Not synthetic appearing all. the hand is nice, and the leather is great. Do not be as worried as I was about the fibrenyte. It really is great, and super easy to clean.

With all that said, be honest with yourself and your needs/desires for your bag. this one is beautiful and well worth the coin if you, like me, value quality construction, timeless design, and don't mind the few concessions it makes. While it isn't perfect out the gate, It can approach it with the addition of some extra padding (if you need it), and some organizer pouches. Tally Ho!

Comments about Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag (Black Canvas & Leather):

I've been using this bag for about three weeks now and it has been excellent. I used it as my "on plane bag" during a flight to Europe with the following gear and other carry on items:

            - Fujifilm X-T1 with XF35 f/2 mounted, XF23 with 3rd party vented lens hood mounted, XF56 with OEM lens hood reversed; Fujifilm X-E2 as a spare body

            - Macbook 12", iPhone 6S Plus

            - All spare batteries for the cameras;

            - Glasses and sunglasses + some small stuff in one of the front pockets

            - 1L transparent "liquids bag" in the other front pocket

            - Charger for phone, computer, associated cables, card readers, ear phones and ear plugs, power adapters, etc.

This was all I took with me on the plane for an intercontinental flight. I had flashes and other light equipment in my checked bag. The Hadley Pro was about 5.5kg (12lbs) and it felt fairly heavy, the optional shoulder pad made it okay though.

When I reached my destination I used it as a daily carry bag for my camera gear which worked out great, the space provided made it very easy to work with, and the bag felt great and lightweight. I also really appreciated that the bag is rain proof without any additional covers.

The only downsides I have found so far is that the included dividers are not quite enough, I'm using a small divider from an ONA bag in addition to one large Billingham dividers and the two flaps. I had that ONA divider ordered separately as I needed it for another bag and as it comes in a pack of two I had one over. Worked great. The other one is that the laptop is put between the padded interior and the outside bag, which works for me but I haven't dropped my bag hard just yet ... ;-)

So far I love this bag. Very happy with the purchase.

Comments about Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag (Black Canvas & Leather):

On the never ending search for the perfect all-time bag I've come to the conclusion there isn't one. But, when I want my D810 without L-Bracket and 70-200/4 (without collar), 16-35/4 and either 50/2 Zeiss or 24-85 plus the usual extra batteries and cards this bag is perfect. The fit is tight but very secure and well padded. The bag is sleek, the closures are silent and the quality is beautiful.

When I carry a kit with L-Bracket and collars, etc., I'll need a bigger bag, but if the Hadley Pro were larger it wouldn't be quite so sleek and nice to work with. It doesn't have all the "stuff" that Think Tank bags have, but I love the simplicity and I really just want it to carry my camera gear, not be a substitute briefcase.

I'm now choosing which -slightly larger- Billingham I'm getting for that larger kit. If it were inexpensive I'd buy it today, but I'm saving my pennies and will get it later.

Comments about Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag (Khaki Canvas & Tan Leather):

I originally reviewed this bag (below) not long after I bought it in 2010. I said then that it was a bit tight for a DSLR and a couple of lenses. It is. I have found that I use it exclusively for M43 equipment or Leica M gear. It each case it will hold a body with lens attached in one section, a longer lens on it's own in another section, and a couple of shorter lenses (separated by a 'borrowed' pad of the right size in between) in the third section. It fits all this comfortably.

This leaves the front pouches for memory cards, batteries, a flash, etc. It can also fit a full size iPad, but not much more in the back zippered pocket. I got the extender pouches that go on the sides, but found them too clumsy in use. If I have to carry that much, I will take a bigger bag.

Sometimes for travelling I remove the internal padded unit and pack the bag itself and the padded unit separately in my checked case. Then I take all the camera, computer gear in a bigger 'transport' carry on bag. That means I can use the Hadley Pro for walking round with selected equipment for the day at the destination and still have use of a full system.

The bag is holding up fine with no holes, tares, etc, after much use. I have the tan/khaki version which I find can show rub-off die from jeans or coats (especially when in the rain), making it look very dirty. It's not too hard to clean - I rub it with dish washing soap and rince the outside under the tap. If I was buying it again, I would get either the black or fibernite version for this reason.

And yes, you should get the shoulder pad.

It is a very well made bag and I expect to have mine for a long time yet.

Comments about Hadley Pro Special Edition Shoulder Bag (Burgundy Canvas & Chocolate Leather):

This is my second Billingham bag. I am almost embarrassed to admit I paid a premium for the burgundy color, but I love the bag. It is not burgundy in the sense of maroon but a very attractive dark red. The material is the lighter weight version, not the canvas. The trim is dark brown, the strap slightly lighter, it all works. The padded insert is smooth brown/not velour like the traditional green ones in other Billingham bags. I use it various ways. With insert, it is the best camera bag model for me. Low profile, comfortable to wear and easy to enter. Very thoughtfully designed for the photographer. When the insert is out, this bag doubles as a general purpose day bag and/or laptop bag. And, it most definitely does not look like a camera bag.

Comments about Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag (Black Canvas & Leather):

Comments about Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag (Black Canvas & Tan Leather):

I am using this bag when I want to travel light (bag is very sturdy and very light weight) with one body (either my XT-1 without battery grip or EX-2) and up to four extra lenses. I can also use it with my three main zoom lenses, the 10-24, 50-140, and the 18-55. Impressive craftsmanship and I recommend also getting the padding for the shoulder strap. In my opinion, it should be included for the price of the bag.

I keep a mirrorless camera system (Fuji XT-1) in the bag along with a zoom lens, an H4N recorder, an Apple MacBook Air and back up batteries, cables. It's a snug fit, a perfect fit. That's all in the main chamber.

The bag is stylish and very easy to get in and out of quickly. This is easily the best photography bag that I have ever owned, to boot, it does not look like a photo bag and thus does not attract unpleasant attention when you are in situations where looking like a photographer or tourist is undesirable.

My wife searched the internet for a bag that would fit her needs as she was investing in a relatively expensive camera. This was the bag she settled on. When we received it, she was very happy that this was the bag she chose. It is constructed very well, the size and portability are just what she was looking for and the bag is very attractive.
