Comments about Impact 5" Reflector Floodlight Kit (120VAC):

I thought I would review this item because there are only two others, and both indicate anomolies that are not the norm. First off, the bulbs, or globes, have very little "life". This is normal and expected, although the EBV should last about five to seven hours. Obviously a small bulb with high wattage will have a lot of stress placed on the filament, especially the daylight blue version as much of the light is burned off as ultra violet rays. How often it's switched on and off, transport, storage, undue on/off will all affect the globe life. Now, on to the reflector and socket. An excellent product, featuring smooth, secure threading and a very sturdy metal female baby receiver. Also, the umbrella mount is an added bonus. The only thing that may pose a problem - and it's no fault of the product - is globes like the ECT and EBV are quite large, and they will protrude beyond the relatively tight perimeter of the 5" dish. This could result in unwanted light spill, depending on the shot. Simply add a rim of black wrap and you are good to go. (or even tin foil if you are on a budget)...the baby receiver features an extra hole so the whole unit can be used horizontally, should the need arise. This little light has amazing coverage - the 500w bulb literally lit my entire apartment! As always, treat the items with care when transporting, packing, unloading and when in use. use gloves or a clean cloth when handling bulbs. If the bulb is soiled rub down with alcohol WHEN COOL. Store all items seperately when not in use, and this little kit will last for years. All in all, a great product especially for low budget users or those who are highly mobile, as you can just throw this in your backpack. Don't forget to "burn in" both the dish and your bulb...Now go out there and film!

It's a great product for the price but the bulb burnt out after 2 hours only...
Other than that, it's useful at a good price.

Comments about Impact 5" Reflector Floodlight Kit (120VAC):

I bought two of these for use on an art copy job, and while one of them is fine, the other has very poorly-machined threads and I have to tape it in place on the light stand. I have only used this on one job, and I don't abuse my equipment. Given that it's such an inexpensive piece of gear, I have not bothered to follow up on any warranty possibilities.
