I was in search of an inexpensive green screen that was portable and found this bundle of a collapsible, reversible green/blue screen that seemed to fit my needs, and it came with its own stand, how perfect.Well the stand wasn't designed specifically for the green screen. [...] The handle seemed easy but did not tighten enough to secure the boom. That's when I went through the box in hopes of an instruction sheet and instead found a spring and a knurled insert that apparently belonged in the cavity in the handle. Once I figured this out the handle worked correctly.Next was discovering how the boom arm had to come out all the way before it could be pivoted and ajusted. I'm sure this would be second nature for a seasoned professional but I'm a newbie and this was not immediately apparent. The clips don't easily grasp the green screen. This is because the screen's frame is flex-steel that is about 1/2" wide, but, with a little effort it is doable. I quickly realize that the screen is too heavy for the stand to support from the side. That's when I realize that the hole on the other end of the boom is probably meant to be an anchor point for some type of counterweight (again, a newbie issue). The stand appears to be well made and is probably excellent for the use it was designed for. I expect to find it usefull for a number of things. It would be great if there were a bag for carrying it or perhaps an optional case. The cons were [...] the lack of an instruction sheet with a parts assembly and breakdown diagram. The user is left to discovery everything on their own.Had there been an instruction sheet and a fabric storage bag I would have considered giving it 5 stars.

This stand broke before I could use it. The design is poor. Before I was able to actually use the stand, the threads in the body of the stand that a tensioning screw threads into, stripped out.

As a mechanic I feel that I am qualified to comment on the durability of fasteners and threading a metal 'T' screw into plastic is only going to last so long. The screw threads that failed are the ones used to tighten the legs into position. If you plan on buying and using this stand, do so only if you plan on leaving it in one place. If you plan to open and close it more than a few times, pass.

I found this stand heavier than I expected, which for me detracted from its value.

The reflector arm is more complex than it needs to be to attach a reflector. Since I was able to return the item to B & H and exchange it for the Norman stand with arm, I can assure you, the Norman is more secure and many times less complex. Lighter too.

The arm clips are a conundrum. While they are substantial from a clamping (spring strength) point of view, since they are 3" long and straight, they don't hold the curved reflectors properly. The faces of the clamps are rubber (or silicone) and grooved but can't be made to completely grip the curved edge of a reflector. In my initial examining of the stand and reflector set, I found the clamps awkward and too close to the arm itself making it hard to attach a reflector.

To summarize, I originally found the cost of the stand, arm and reflector set too irresistible to pass up, and while the package seemed too good to be true, I bought it anyway. I sent it back (it is so great to shop at B & H because of great policies like theirs for returns) and ordered the Norman equivalent. Better arm and stand. Spend the extra and buy it once.

Multiboom Light Stand and Reflector Holder - 13'

Comments about Impact Multiboom Light Stand and Reflector Holder - 13' (4m):

This is a nice boom stand. It is my first one and I am not disappointed. I rate it a 4 star just because I haven't utilized it as much as my other gear and don't know how it will fair in the future. I do recommend that you purchase weights if you don't have any accessible as you will need them.

A piece of cheap garbage!

Comments about Impact Multiboom Light Stand and Reflector Holder - 13' (4m):

Avoid this stand. I would have given it 0 stars if that was an option. The clips started breaking the first day and after about 10 uses, the vertical part of the boom broke. I had to duct tape it to keep the stand from collapsing. I replaced the clips with large bulldog clips from Staples - the kind you use to hold papers together - and they work MUCH better than the originals. Beware.

Heavy Duty for the Price

Comments about Impact Multiboom Light Stand and Reflector Holder - 13' (4m):

I really liked this boom, but at the longest extension there is quite a bit of bending happening even with a lightweight mic on the end of it. At the mid-length, the boom works well and doesn't bend. Sand bag is a must.

I bought the same stand about 6 years ago and through constant use as a mic & reflector stand it is getting close to needing to be replaced so bought a new one before it falls apart. The original has stood up to a lot of use so think this is a great purchase for the amount.

Great for holding a reflector or a flag. If you're shooting portraits and want to improve lighting conditions/ create shadows without spending a lot of money this is a great thing to have around. I can't speak for it's abilities as a boom arm as I haven't used it for that. Fell over due to the wind a couple of times and didn't break so seems pretty sturdy.

This product performs the task it is designed for,and if light weight / portability is your primary issue, then this will suit you fine. However it is made of relatively thin tubing, which was dented the first time I cranked down on the adjustment knob. Being used to pro quality c-stands and such, I wasn't prepared for how fragile this is.

NOTE: I purchased casters for this, but it is so light, they were really not required.

When I took the stand out of the box, I expected it to be light and flimsy, but was pleasantly surprised at its heft and strength. It't not too heavy so as to be not portable, but it has a nice strength and stability to it. The built-in clamps are also very convenient.

There was a slight learning curve at setting the boom, but once I got past that, it's very easy to set up.

It works great for our reflector and for holding a hairlight. You'll need some type of support. Sandbag, counter weight, you get the idea. It's light and collapsible. However, it doesn't fold down very far. I'm fine with that but just doesn't fit in our standard sized tripod bags. Aling with being light it's, well, flimsy. Not saying it's going to snap but just not as rugged as the metal stands Im used to.

Probably best for a hobbyist, not sure the materials would stand up to constant use. But, definitely worth the price. I'm using it to support reflector / diffuser discs. You'll typically need to add weight to the stand, it is light and will easily tip when the boom is extended. I wrapped a 10 lb ankle weight around the center pole.

Great price. Stand and boom seem strong enough, family light, and provide lots of positioning flexibility when holding a 110cm reflector.

However, you will need a weight to support this i.e. sandbag(s)/saddlebag(s) and hook(s) else it will topple over very easily, even indoors without wind. And at any price, this really should include the simplest of cases/sleeves.

Otherwise, if you are on a tight budget, or are just starting out, this is the one to get.

Comments about Impact Multiboom Light Stand and Reflector Holder - 13' (4m):

I use this stand with a 42" reflector and have no problems with it. The stand is sturdy until extended above 10' so I wouldn't expect it to be your go-to for that situation. For the price it's a great bargain.
