I love my Microsync. It offers everything you've come to expect from using a PocketWizard at half the cost. The Microsync transmitter and receiver are small enough to fit in the side pocket of your camera bag and reliable enough to use all day without changing batteries. I thought I'd have to use a Safe-Sync voltage reducer with the receiver, but was delighted to learn that it can be plugged directly into my Norman P800-D Power Packs without any problems. This is one of those rare products that has made my professional life simpler without destroying my budget.

My first reaction a year and a half ago--excellent. Benefits of pocket wizard without the expense, weight and bulk. That was then. After a year and a half of light use (home studio with Novatron monolights used once or twice a month), in the middle of shooting something important, it stopped working. I replaced the battery in the transmitter and the batteries in the receiver. After each change, it worked for a few shots and then stopped again. Luckily, a 580EX on manual and 1/128 power works to trip optical slaves, so we finished, but it was a bit embarrasing in front of a professional model, publicist, and marketing person.Repeated attempts to get support from Tamrac/Micro sync have yielded no reply. My advice would be: Spend a little more and get the real thing (Pocket Wizard) from B&H...[...]

Comments about MicroSync Digital 4 Channel Radio Slave Kit with "H" Prong Plug:

I bought this to sync a Dynalite strobe with my Canon 5D mkII, the first problem is that the transmitter doesn't fit tightly in the camera's hotshoe, so I had to tape it in place when working. The second problem is that the unit only syncs at 1/160 or slower despite it's 1/180 sec rating.
If I had kept the box I would have returned it.
Appropriately, it now seems to be a discontinued product.

Comments about MicroSync Digital 4 Channel Radio Slave Kit with "H" Prong Plug:

I use the MicroSync sytem on my Nikon D700 primarily to fire my Speedotron 1204 power pac for portrait work and also to fire my strobes for off camera lighting (CLS). I specifically ordered the H prong unit for my Speedotron power pac so I could just plug it in and go, but I was very disappointed to find out that you can't use it for high voltage pacs without a Safe Sync voltage regulator! It is upsetting to buy something for a particular application then find out you need something more to make it work. The Safe Sync isn't cheap, costing almost half of the total cost of the whole radio slave system. The good is once you have it all, the unit works flawlessly; period. The unit triggers every time, that is the kind of peace of mind this system offers. Even after spending the extra money that I hadn't planned on,(which is still very affordable) you really can't beat the performance of this unit. I would recommend this system whole heartedly.

Comments about MicroSync Digital 4 Channel Radio Slave Kit with "H" Prong Plug:

Lots of Pros, lots of Cons. I had a microsync before and watched it get beat up and broken because of the top heavy design of the receiver. It was more gaffer tape than plastic when it finally died. The transmitter backs out of the hot shoe because it doesn't have a lock. I switched to an elinchrom skyport but it has broken too since it's made of cheap plastic. So, time for a third system and I went back to microsync- largely because it's now one hundred dollars less than a few years ago. It's still top heavy and it still needs a locking foot on the transmitter and I only expect it to last a year or two, but the price is right and once you've gone wireless sync, you can't go back to a pc cord.

I've used this for about 4 years for editorial and advertising work with monolights, 120J, and other flashes. All you need is the right adapter. It's durable and compact and very dependable. The transmitter is small and could be easy to lose or forget about in a pocket. Ideal for photographers who like a light bag. I recommend it and would buy again.

Really compact and a snap to setup.
Transmitter could seat tighter into the camera hot-shoe to prevent it joggling loose during use.
Transmitter button is convenient for activating the light system to test light levels.

Small yet powerful only describes half this product. It is versital as well! Use it to activate a strobe or with an accessory cable, activate your camera from up to 100 feet. It is dependable and operates on four channels. Great tool! Does what the Pocket Wizard does at half the price and half the size.

My experience with this unit is still pretty limted, but have used it successfully for my studio flash that I used for post ceremony wedding shots. It is nice not to be tied down with a sync cord.

I do have another model studio flash at home and it would not trigger it. Not sure why. I got around it by using the microsync to trigger a Vivitar 283 that triggers an old optical slave on the studio flash. A bit convoluted, but it works fine.

If you purchase it, be sure you can return it just in case it doesn't work on your units.
