Comments about 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM Autofocus Lens for Sigma Digital SLR Camera:

I debated getting a DP2M or the SD1M but finally decided on the SD1M because of this lens. Being a 1.x/50 full frame shooter, I needed my standard lens to have shallow dof and quality bokeh, both areas in which this lens excels. With a -7 adjustment on the SD1M, AF is spot on, although quite hesitant even in good light which I don't know is lens or body related since this is my only AF lens on the SD1M. At f/1.4 it renders with some soft glow reminiscent of my 1.x/50 which is great for portraits. For my needs, I made the right decision going for this lens instead of waiting on the new Sigma 1.4/35 which is twice the price but more "clinical". I'll probably get a super wide with the "left over" money!

Comments about 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM Autofocus Lens for Sigma Digital SLR Camera:

This lens is incredibly fast! The depth of field is stunning and really brings the subject out. Although you can shoot many types of photos with this lens, I love shooting portraits. If you are unsure and want to see what this lens is capable of, just do a search on the internet. Look for "sigma 30mm f/1.4 sample photos". GREAT LENS!

Comments about 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM Autofocus Lens for Sigma Digital SLR Camera:

I was looking for fast all around lens to grab and run with. This lens is one I wanted to like. I love the look of it, it seems to be a well built, tuff, rugged, take what I give it type lens. It's what I was looking for except for one problem, it is not sharp enough for my taste. I want tack sharp images that I can go up or down with as I choose as far as sharpness. I shot several hundred images at least, under a number of conditions but could not get happy with the results. The price is great, the lens build is great. The images just don't work for me.
