We used this stand in our outdoor shoot in Perris, CA the other day, and it was a godsend. Prior to buying this we had done an 8 hour shoot in the california sun with our boom operator holding the boom the entire time.. Needless to say he was ecstatic to just be able to position and control the boom for a lot of the scenes (for moving shots, nothing beats an over the head carry, but a lot of our shots didn't need that, and most rarely do, especially for sitcom style shoots).[@]

Comments about On-Stage SB9600 Tripod Studio Boom Stand:

I use this stand for overhead mic setups in interview video production settings. This is an outstanding boom stand but pretty heavy and doesn't make for easy mobility if your moving from one shoot location to another. Really well made and very sturdy. Best suited for studio setups, it is however, at least for me, worth lugging around to interview shoots that I do since you can position the stand farther away from the subject and the base is out of the way for the most part. If someone bumps into this thing on set it's not going to fall over, which I like.

I have this set up in my video studio at work and it's been working great so far. It's able to adjust pretty high and the boom is easy to adjust. I travel and I do wish that this collapsed a little more and came with a travel bag but still a great product.

Comments about On-Stage SB9600 Tripod Studio Boom Stand:

This stand is really helpful at raising the mic really high enough to be out of the frame. The construction of this stand is very strong and sturdy. I just didn't like the horizontal pipe because it WASN'T TELESCOPIC; it is simply an extension arm that screws to the non-removable short arm. It seems to be made to be stationary all the time, for it is bulky to move here and there more often. The base legs cover very large area in my studio I'm sure if you have the space you will be happy with the wide base legs.

    GREAT PRODUCT

Comments about On-Stage SB9600 Tripod Studio Boom Stand:

Immediately after I pulled the tripod out from the package I realized it is a well built piece made of quality material. It does not feel cheap at all. For instance I purchased some lights from proaim, but the stands feel cheap. This stand is diffferent. . it looks very very professional.

Bought this for an orchestra recording project.

It's extended height is perfect for my application to get above the orchestra. The stand is very sturdy

However, the base of the stand is larger than I had anticipated. More the size of a speaker stand.

Comments about On-Stage SB9600 Tripod Studio Boom Stand:

      The Bad:

It stores a little tall. I try to keep my things on a cart and it pokes out. It stores 47.5''.

Everything folds down nicely except for the extra arm that it comes with. You have to thread that arm on and off. This isn't ideal because you have to store two separate items instead of the one. It's also an added step for set-up and strikes.

      The Good:

Other than general satisfaction of all that it offers. I was surprised by how lightweight it is for its size. Most of its weight comes from the boom arm's counterweight. I also liked the boom-arm-clips that help hold your cables. They're accept cables easily and hold them securely. And they slide on the boom arm for anchoring placement.

Overall, I'm very pleased, It's a great set-up. I'd buy this item again.

We bought this boom stand for our church A/V team. The boom works great. It is a very sturdy and durable stand. The included counter weight is great for when you have the boom telescoped out to longest position. We have also used the boom stand for lighting when we needed to hang a light over top of people for an interview. We love this boom stand and plan on buying a second one soon when we have the funds to purchase another shotgun mic and stand.

It's durable and has some weight to it yet it's easy to maneuver and manipulate.

          Great product for the price!

Comments about On-Stage SB9600 Tripod Studio Boom Stand:

Rush Videos uses the boom mic for commercial interviews when don't want to use a wireless mic & chance it showing up in the video. The unit is very easy to assemble & break down. The only negatives are it doesn't come with a carrying bag or a mic holder.

Rush Videos uses the boom stand for commercial interviews & television commercials. Very easy to set up but not instructions are included for a novice user. I was surprised to see a mic holder wasn't included. Also, there isn't a option to add a carrying bad as there isn't a strap included either. Overall we'd purchase it again as it does fit our needs.

I'm only a beginner when it comes to studio video recording, and am using it for marketing and business videos. I've been looking all over for a good boom mic stand that would allow me to raise a shotgun condenser microphone overhead and out of shot. This one works perfectly.

This stand is sturdy. It seems like it could handle quite a bit of weight. Of course I didn't swing on it or anything to see what the max was, but it holds my microphone great, and that's all that mattered to me.

            I would recommend this stand.

Comments about On-Stage SB9600 Tripod Studio Boom Stand:

I'm a free-lance video producer and I bought this stand as an alternative to a shotgun mike on a tripod (as a Condenser mic it was picking up a lot of noise directly behind it). From my experience with it so far I am absolutely thrilled with the improvement, not only in sound quality, but also in functionality. It is very tall and long which consequently means it is fairly heavy.

WARNING: When I opened up the box I was disappointed to find that IT DOES NOT COME WITH AN ADAPTER for a 1/4" or 3/8" cold shoe mount. It's only two bucks for one and it's easy enough to Jerry-Rig your mic on if necessary but if you don't already have one make sure and add it to your order.

One other thing that might been nice to have is a bag or something to keep the extender together with it (I haven't needed it yet so I have to keep it in my light bag). Overall a great addition to any kit.

Alright yeah it's really heavy, BUT, works like a boss. I shoot a lot of stuff outdoors and standard mic stands get blown down by the wind. I don't carry sand bags.

Although it's a burden to carry this oaf to shoots, it's very sturdy and I love the height and reach it provides me.

I use this stand to record video interviews and so far it has worked out great. I was using a reflector stand before and it would come close to falling over at times. Since this stand is so stable I don't need to worry about it falling over in the middle of an interview. It is a little on the heavy but you need that in order to be as stable as it is. The adjustments could be a little easier to use, but all in all a great stand.

I've been using this to supplement a boom operator on small video shoots, and it really works well. I can quickly set it up myself and have no concerns about distance... The length is great, and allows you to get the mic where you need it without compromising your shot. It's a little bulky, but I'm not sure how that could be avoided without compromising stability. I would recommend.

I use this stand to mount mics above audience to record local symphony and many school concerts where kids/parents are close to musicians. The base is sturdy and fairly kid-proof (and adult proof) when used in close-up recording environments. Like the TIMEX WATCH, it takes a beating and keeps on (ticking) protecting my mics!!!
