I am using this lens on a D700 and lovin it. I shoot a lot of performance and people shots and I have always shot wide. I had a Tokina 11-16* for my D300 but when I switched to the D700 my 17-35 Nikon(my basic lens) wasn't always wide enough. This lens is fun and sharp. It will focus almost twice a close as the Nikon 16mm and is solid, a oz. heavier. I didn't know if I wanted to try this lens or not with all the reviews from D700 shooters complaining about the lens not being full frame. When I ordered it I realized they hadn't removed both pieces of the lens cover. The cover will come off as one piece or two, a little wierd but saves you a buncha extra bucks. Buy this lens if you are shopping for a diagonal fish eye.*By the way that Tokina f2.8 11-16 is a great lens for you DX photogs. I got mine used from B&H.

The lens just did not do what I expected on my full format Nikon D700s. Perhaps the fault was mearly in my expectations. However it also seems very light weight in construction compared to my other Nikon lenses. The pull off ring required for the lens cap was cumbersome when I am dealing with multiple lenses and cameras.

Comments about Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye Lens for Nikon AF:

I like it so far, but you have to love fisheyes and know how to take advantage of them. I found it nice for doing midnight panoramas and stitching them together. Lightroom will also do some corrections to make the pictures rectilinear, but you also have to keep in mind the angle at which you hold the lens is *way* more important than a longer lens. i.e., sometimes you also need to do vertical adjustments in lightroom as well. But this is typical of wide/fisheye, not of this particular product.

The lightness is really nice as well!

It *IS* difficult to focus on stars, however, due to the wideness. This again is a problem with the focal length, not the product.

It can also be nice for macro-like pictures as the focus distance is pretty short.

I will probably still eventually buy a rectilinear prime or zoom that will take filters. (This one doesn't.)

I used to shoot underwater with the Tokina 10-17mm and the Nikon D300, but when I upgraded to the D800, this lens is the way to go. Recently on a month long cave dive trip, this lens performed flawlessly. I was shooting between f.8 and F.5.6, and the shots are incredibly sharp. While I miss the zoom capability of the 10-17mm, I recall I always had it set on max wide anyway. 15mm Sigma is the way to go underwater!

Comments about Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye Lens for Nikon AF:

Until this purchase, all of my lenses have been Nikon. I was hesitant to go with Sigma. But, nearly all of the reviews led me to believe that the Sigma fisheye was at least equal to the Nikon fisheye. After shooting with this lens for the past month or so, I am very impressed with it. It's razor sharp. And, it's small and light...very easy to bring along to every photo shoot. It has opened up a whole new world of creative compositions for my photography. Highly recommend.

If you need a 15mm 2.8, this fits the bill at a reasonable price. Build quality seems very high. IQ is very high at this price. Focus speed is is not fast, but doesn't need to be. For sports establishing shots and occasional wide specialty shots, this is the right lens at the right price. You can spend more, but no need to.

Comments about Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye Lens for Nikon AF:

I am using this fisheye lens with my Nikon D800 and 35mm SLR. This Sigma 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye lens is very similar to Nikkor 16mm f/2.8 Fisheye lens. Personally, I am not a big fan of Sigma lens. But I think this Sigma fisheye lens is as good as Nikon's if not better than. This lens is as sharp as Nikon's fisheye with a closer focus distance but less expensive than Nikon's 16mm fisheye. I especially like the front cap of this lens. It is far better designed than Nikon's fisheye lens. It is well attached to the front of the lens and very easy to take off. I would strongly recommend this lens.

I purchased this lens for some specialty shots in my photo business. After doing the research on full frame fish-eyes I chose this one. The lens performs very well. it does has some strong chromatic aberation in the corners which is common for this type of lens; however, checking the box to remove CA in Photoshop CS6 and ACR completely eliminates it. Overall an excellent value.

Comments about Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye Lens for Nikon AF:

Up until recently, I was using only DX cameras/leses for one single reason - I shoot fisheye 95% of the time (I'm a full-time underwater pro shooter), and I wanted to continue using the Tokina 10-17, which is the ultimate for underwater. I got the D800E, and decided to pair it up with the Nikon 14-24, but outside the center, it had terrible sharpness when wider than f14, plus its minimum focus distance was too far off the lens. So I got this Sigma 15, and its got far fewer issues with corner sharpness (f5.6 and smaller is perfectly acceptable) and the minimum focus distance is comparable to the Tokina 10-17 that I was so reluctant to give up. I just got done with a few days of shooting underwater, and love the results. Corners are great, AF speed was acceptable, vignetting is not noticable at all, and without uber-detail scrutinizing at 1600% magnification, it looks like the resolving power is fine for the 36MP D800. So yeah, I'd like the zoom capibility of the DX sized Tokina 10-17, but despite that, I'm quite happy with this lens, and will end up sig it much more often that the Nikon 14-24.

Comments about Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye Lens for Nikon AF:

Comments about Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye Lens for Nikon AF:

So far I have mainly used this lense for action sport photography (downhill mountain biking mainly). It's been a great lense for this purpose as it can be an ongoing battle in the forest to get the framing you are looking for. It gives a neat fisheye perspective that does not get too radical.
It provides good quality images in a full frame size (I shoot with the Nikon D700) and seems to operate fairly well with the Nikon computer.
The couple cons is that is can be a little "stiff" to attach and detache from the camera body and it sometims has a slight malfunction with the Nikon body computer. The aperature will sometimes not commicate properly and the body will tell me I'm shooting at F/1 although this is a F/2.8 lense. Once you pick up on it you just shoot at F/1 if your trying to shoot at 2.8 and it operates normally and after a few shots or once you go up and down through part of the apperature range it sorts itself out.
I would recommend this lense to anyone in the fisheye market.

I have had the lens for about a week now and I still have so much to learn in order to get the most out of it. It has been fun playing with it in a variety of situations. :)
