My father bought this 10 years ago and its incredible how they can resist everything (in comparions with all of the others for the same price). They're durable, comfortable but the best thing is... this headphones SOUNDs SUPERB for the price A+

Recently i bought two pieces from this for two friends, they can't be believe the quality-price relationship (they are using for voice over recording).

I tested, im a radio producer with knowledge on music production and im sure that every singer, voiceover or producer needs this mandatorily on his/her studio, no matter if is home or pro.

I bought these to replace a set of Sony MDR-V600 that wore out. I am very familiar with this line of Sony cans. These, compared to the ones I've used over the past ten years seem a tad lighter, smaller... not cheaply built, but just not as much mass as they used to be.I am used to the flat frequ range and absolutely HATE headphones that bump up all that bass mess. I need a flat range to mix. So, no prob here.I use them for recording broadcast interviews and mix video. Not sure if they would be my first choice for music.I will say that if you are looking for a set that will block out external sounds..... these will not isolate. I'm fine with that as I don't have to constantly pull them off a ear to hear what people are saying.I don't have a problem with them... but I do agree that Sony could have knocked off $ by not using that ridiculous (wasteful) packaging it came in.

Great

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphone:

Very clean sound. not much bass as what I'm used to for listening to music, but great for monitoring and audio/video work. Nicely designed too although my ears are a little big to fit completely comfortably

Good sound quality

By Ricky Panjabi

from High Point

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphone:

It provides sound of the source without enhancing any frequency. Which helps to determine the quality of the source. Although it appears to be a studio headphones I have tried using it at live video recording. I wish it had had detachable cord. So one could buy appropriate length for the purpose at this moment I feel the weight of coiled wire which is longer than necessary.

Sony MDR-7506 has it all... Just right.

By Ledsled

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphone:

Excellent frequency response at all volume levels. The lows are so much cleaner sounding with these headphones they blow away all other speakers in my house (including the Bose). The highs are crisp with just the right amount of brightness complementing the solid mid-range. Sony MDR-7506 headphones bring out every detail in the music usually hidden or muted by cheap headphones with poor frequency response that claim good numbers but fail to deliver in balance with the spectrum sounds being played all together. Very comfortable to wear for hours of listening enjoyment. Because they cover the entire ear with just the right amount of pressure for my average sized noggin, they stay put when I move quickly and keep my ears warm (It will be a bonus after summer).
Considering price vs. performance vs. comfort - Sony MDR-7506 has it all… Just right.
They only negative thought I have about these headphones is the wiring. Keep in mind these things are classic studio headphones designed many years ago and are still holding up to the competitions because of the sound, comfort & price. The cable is not detachable from the headset and the wires at the earphones are visible and appear fragile. See some of the reviews fix that with black tape. I will leave them be for maximum flexibility for folding up to stuff in the leather bag.
MDR-7506 is one of the best high performance headphones you can buy for less than $100.

Great Product, a True Icon in the Music World

By Robes

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphone:

I did my homework on studio headphones and answered the question, what do the people in radio and film use in the studio? Answer; If it's not the Sony MDR-7506 then it's the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro. These are studio headphones, they are not the expensive high end types used to listen to your classical music in a lounge chair. These are the working professionals headphone, used to monitor audio, edit music and video. They are not tainted with accentuated "deeper base" or "higher highs", they reproduce the music/audio as it was recorded.
It boils down to personal preference and look between these two, even the prices are the same. But, beware of counterfeit makes, lots of them out there. You can't beat the price brand new, anything allot cheaper is not the real thing. I found B & H to have the cheapest price for brand new and the unquestionable absolute authentic item. If you want professional stereo studio monitoring headphones you found them right hear, go no further!

Quality and Versitility

By Wayne the pain.

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphone:

The brand of the product means integrity, but also I was looking for headsets I could use on location shoots. Often I walk from behind the camera to talk with actors for direction. with the spiral, expanding cable I can walk to the actors, give direction and return without having to take my headsets off, between takes. These are perfect for that need and also a great time saver. The sound quality is equally is another bonus. I would highly recommend them.

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphone:

Everyone loves this headset, which has been around for quite a while. Great sound. I'd give them five stars if they did a better job of excluding other, unwanted ambient sound--they do a pretty decent job, but of course are not designed for that

Good product for the cost

By Marcelo

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphone:

I purchased these headphones a few weeks ago. Comparing with AKG circumaural K240, the Sony ones have a deeper lower freq sound. If you use it to master or just to monitor your recordings, then consider that it produces some "loudness", that means that it gives more higher and lower frequencies that it should.
Overall: good headphones (better and more comfortable than the Sennheiser HD 280)

great so far!

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphone:

Bought for transcribing audio. In comparison to audio technica's ATH-M40x (which I've also used):
- sound seems thinner at the mid frequencies, lots of clarity at high end (good for "t"s vs "d"s). Vs. AT's had a "meatier" sound
- better for distinguishing between the characteristics of individual voices (not sure why this is)
- feels gentler on my ears, hurts my head less but blocks sound better
- more lightweight, folds up smaller: aesthetically the design of these brings me joy. :)

This is my first step into production-quality headphones and I'm not sure why I waited so long. They sound crisp and clean and collapse to a convenient size. I bought a $10 Sentey case online and can now safely toss them in my backpack when traveling to shoots.
