Comments about Westcott Scott Kelby Studio Kit (120VAC):

I attended a seminar with a rep using these lights and was able to take some shots with the model thay had there. I must say in the right hands these should be an excellent light source for portrait work.. The space was small but adequate. All shots were metered and the ones I took using those readings looked excellent. Well lit with a great dynamic range. All I can say is they worked for me, when shown how to use them and how to place them

Comments about Westcott Scott Kelby Studio Kit (120VAC):

I wanted to use this kit for my pet portraiture business, but the lights aren't powerful enough to stop an ever-moving animal, and I can only shoot at 1/40 sec, f2.8, so it's terrible for full body portraits of moving objects. It's a really nice kit for still life or product shots. The large light stands and background kit don't fit into my already large lighting bag, so they have to be carried separately.

Comments about Westcott Scott Kelby Studio Kit (120VAC):

The other guy does not know what he is talking about. I got this set and took some outstanding pictures. Scott has been using these lights for years and he also has taken some great pictures. It is true that the florescent lights are not as bright as the strobes but they're not supposed to be.
Bottom line: they are great lights but as with anything it's a good idea to research how to use it. Lighting is not as easy at it looks but it's not all that hard either.

FLOURESCENTS DO NOT WORK IN TD5

Comments about Westcott Scott Kelby Studio Kit (120VAC):

I bought these fixtures with high hopes. They simply are not usable with fluorescent bulbs. I think it's obvious the strobes aren't worth even trying. Well turns out the same is true with the fluorescents. There just isn't enough output. Certainly not with the 27 or 30 watt bulbs they ship with. In fact it's just a sad joke really. I feel like I've been had.
