Comments about Manfrotto 272B Adjustable Background Holder (108"):

Unfortunately, I'm looking for a crossbar that can adequately hold a 107"x50yd roll of seamless and they don't seem to be available. This one is doing the job, though it is warping under the load. It would be fine for a smaller roll or a fabric background. It seems well made. I like the clamps on the ends. I can spin them easily and clamp them down just as easily.

Comments about Manfrotto 272B Adjustable Background Holder (108"):

Great for all sizes of rolled backgrounds, I suppose it would even be good for drapes if you clapped everything down and let it hang from the rod. I'm headed out for my first shoot with this piece and did a test just to make sure it works as advertised. It did, I found that on one end the smaller end once extended is the end you'll use a clap to secure the paper, keeping everything parallel to the camera and ceiling. So with that said, this is perfect if you're looking for a fool proof way to hang seamless.

Comments about Manfrotto 272B Adjustable Background Holder (108"):

Considered DIY before purchasing this product, but glad I didn't. Bar is sturdy, easily adjustable and can be used on any standard light stands. Small enough when compressed to easily put in my car. Excellent for backdrops in studio and on the road.

Strong and well made. Works perfectly for its intended uses. The telescoping feature allows you to adjust width easily, and to store easily. Attaches to the end of light stands easily and securely. A bit expensive, but not too bad.

Comments about Manfrotto 272B Adjustable Background Holder (108"):

I have this wall-mounted in my home studio setup for a 107" background. It is incredibly light for what it is. It collapses down to a manageable size that allows me to put away when I'm not shooting. I use it with studs instead of the Expan system. Note that you'll have to put stops at the end of the studs to prevent this holder from sliding out of the wall mount hangers.

Highly recommended. It's pricey as most Manfrotto products are but they are typically better made than the competition

Comments about Manfrotto 272B Adjustable Background Holder (108"):

This background holder is the typically solid Manfrotto construction. The twist-lock telescoping mechanism word perfectly. I've not seen any deflection in the pole, although I've only used it extended to about 5-1/2 feet so far. My only complaint is that, with the locking screws in place, it's too large to slide through the 2" PVC piping I use as a core for my rolled up back drops. I'll be looking for a shorter thumb screw to replace the ones that came with the pole.

I aquired this for only one purpose; to hold up my backdrop when I do onsite portraights. Fits in the tube and gives me the right height. Having to take the clamping screw out to fit the tube can be awkward, but I may just leave the rod in the tube.

Great item. Does what it should. Might need a couple clamps for paper but often I don't. Mechanism where it slides out has some very light grease or oil. And it probably needs it. But it also kind of gets on your hand a little. Just a mini heads up.

Comments about Manfrotto 272B Adjustable Background Holder (108"):

This is the same cross bar holder that comes in the Manfrotto kit, but the stands in that kit didn't go as high as I wanted. So I bought 2 of the Impact 9.5' heavy duty stands and bought 4 of the 2" pony spring clamps instead of that kit. I feel I got a much more heavy duty support system this way for less money. This cross bar ties everything in very well. It is very easy to set up and the telescoping pole is highly adjustable for different sized rooms.

As Usual with Manfrotto..Well thought out, well designed, well built, well priced and er.. well versatile :-)Out of the box one end is free to spin, which makes you think its faulty or slack quality control at the factory. Once in use, you realize that its allowed to spin so that you can adjust the length using the twist lock system whilst the the bar is fixed/attached to both the uprights/light stands. When using it as a cross bar to fix a D700 and 2x sb900's using 3 super clamps and a tripod ball head in the middle of it. It instilled full confidence to leave it there all day, no worries.. ..and there was no sign of tube compression when I cranked down the super clamps. I Have the Manfrotto Lbag110 for my light stands and the bar is about 120mm too long for the bag, I just close the two zips either side of its protrusion and the bag still sits good on the shoulder...If you peeled back the skin on my right forearm, underneath you would see the name 'NIKON' If you peeled back the skin on my left forearm you would see the name 'MANFROTTO'.. :-DBuy with confidence....Oh yeah, just remembered. Out of the box there seems to be an oily residue on it, so a once over with a cloth is a good Idea, especially if your then going to be handling a white back drop..

Comments about Manfrotto 272B Adjustable Background Holder (108"):

I already own some Manfrotto 1052BAC light stands (same as included in the full kit), also recommended, so I just added this crossbar. At its minimum length, its stiff enough that the light stands slip and shorten before the crossbar flexes when I pull down hard. At its maximum length, it does sag a little in the middle but its not a problem. The working length of the crossbar ranges from 42" to 9.5' and is infinitely adjustable between those two lengths. There are three tube sections and you just twist them to lock/unlock. The fittings that sit on top of the light stand spigots add 3" to the total length of the bar. The T-handle on the clamp brings the total thickness to just over 2" which wasn't a problem for the pocket on my 10x20 muslin. One clamp is free spinning which I think makes it easy to setup solo and could compensate for some uneven floors.

Comments about Manfrotto 272B Adjustable Background Holder (108"):

Like most Manfrotto products, this is well made and solid, but quite light and convenient to carry.

It is easy to extend and collapse, locks well in place and does not bow too much.

The end blocks lock onto a standard spigot, but are bulky and hard to get through rolls.

The whole rod only needed to be a tiny bit longer and it would have suited 3m wide rolls just fine. As it is they buckle up on the ends.

Comments about Manfrotto 272B Adjustable Background Holder (108"):

Does as it should. Holds a 9' roll of seamless with some room to spare. It does flex a little bit, but in no way am I worried that it will break. I love how light and portable it is and how it just fits on to normal light stands. This works well for location shoots. I wouldn't use it permanently in a studio.

Comments about Manfrotto 272B Adjustable Background Holder (108"):

Used to hold a 9' roll of white seamless paper. Good value, solid construction, but still feels a bit light for heavy backgrounds. It's the best portable option I've found, but for studio work I'd use an autopole.

This holder collapses smaller than the bg bar that came with my stands. I use this to suspend bg paper with bicycle hooks that screw into the ceiling - eliminates problems with kids knocking down the bg holder stands.
