For those who say it was designed to be used on the left only or forces you to hold portraits upside down, that is not true but in your defense, the manual is scant and is really only good for the bottom of a bird cage. The bracket can be used on either side of the camera and the cold shoe can be flipped. The mounting screw can be moved into different holes to accommodate any camera or battery grip. The height of the flash above the camera can be adjusted (ships in its lowest position). This also adjusts the position of the flash head above the lens when in portrait mode. The horizontal position of the flash (in landscape mode) can be adjusted. The problem was with my Pentax K-3 with BG-5 battery grip and Sigma EF-610DG Super flash gun, it was just beyond the max settings to fit the grip, give enough space for the hand to hold the camera, and still get the flash directly above the lens.Personally, I like a slight offset to the photographer's left to cast a slight down and right shadow to give more depth to the image anyway but this offset was a little to the right. Also, a shorter screw for the flash would be nice to mount flashes with tripod mounts directly to the upper arm.

Used:
- Used with Canon 20D for sports, portraits, events, and occasions in a variety of environments for over 3 years.
The Good:
- Almost always use flash indoors and out and never had red eye.
- Joint connecting flash support arm to bracket provides good movement to keep flash above lens in portrait or landscape and is stiff enough to support the flash in a landscape postion (off to the side) while the camera is in portrait.
The Bad:
- When I use the bracket I hold the camera (20D). Without the battery pack, there is not enough surface area to get a good grip on camera. Not necessarily a con, but the battery pack is good to use with bracket.
- No Anti-Twist plate for this bracket and 20D. I recommend using a battery pack for an SLR camera for the added grip and battery power. However, this also adds bulk and weight. I am constantly adjusting the camera and tightening the mounting screw because the camera keeps twisting. If you are doing agressive photography at an event, such as a party, you can miss a shot with the flash not aiming where the lens is.
- This is also a negative on the camera manufacturer because large cameras should have two points to mount from. One stationary and one floating. If the battery pack for the 20D had this, I could easily affix the camera to the bracket with two mounting screws and be set to move and swing around without the bracket twisting the flash out of alignment from the camera.
- Dual mounting points probably won't happen anytime soon, but a good Anti-Twist plate that won't damage the finish on the camera is an essential missing accessory to this bracket.

Comments about Stroboframe Quick Flip 350 Bracket:

The unit is used primarily for weddings and group shots. The Bracket folds in the middle and will hold the strobe centered and at the same distance from the lens shooting horizontal as well as vertical shots.

I have not found anything bad as yet.

Comments about Stroboframe Quick Flip 350 Bracket:

Not suitable for Pentax K-3 (interferes with main grip), not suitable (as stated in product description) for battery grips, not suitable for large flashes.

When mounted so the flash handle is on the same side as the camera's main grip, either the bracket's grip gets in the way of the controls or the lens is off too far to the side for adjustments to put the flash over the lens in landscape mode. (Even with that wide array of mounting holes to choose from). (See 1st image).

If mounted on the opposite side, this clearly is not a problem for landscape shots but portrait mode either puts the flash under the lens or the control hand in an awkward position under the camera.

With my Sigma EF-610 DG Super and a battery grip (which is not a supported configuration), the flash cannot be adjusted enough to align with the lens. Even with the battery grip removed, my -OCF TTL hot shoe keeps the flash from aligning. (See 2nd image).

The tripod mount at the bottom of the tripod screw does not provide enough space to securely mount the bracket on a tripod but fortunately there are many other 1/4" holes available.

However, I sometimes leave my bracket at home for easy travel when I am not intending to do a shoot. After two months, the glue which attaches the rubber pad to the metal frame gave way; first separating from the metal then separating from the rubber.

This may have been after attaching and detaching the bracket about five times. I am considering attaching a Arca-Swiss 70mm clamp to the top and a 140mm plate to the bottom of the bracket to allow quick release of the camera to the bracket and the bracket to a tripod. This will make the rubber thing a non-issue (and I do have two different cameras, each will have its own 70mm Arca-Swiss plate to quickly position the camera on the bracket/tripod. The tripod has a 48mm Arca-Swiss clamp to accommodate the bracket or either camera).

Additionally, the cold shoe tends to loosen after a while, no matter how tightly I secure it. I eventually find my flash wobbling and have to take time to tighten the screw underneath the cold shoe yet again.

Since I use an off-camera TTL shoe adapter which has a tripod socket, I tried attaching that directly but the supplied screw is too long. May have to buy a shorter screw to fix that.

    Too many work-arounds.

Nevertheless, it does come in handy at casual events such as parties, outdoor fill lighting, bounce flash, diffused flash, etc.

Comments about Stroboframe Quick Flip 350 Bracket:

I suppose all brackets of this type have this inherant flaw: once the camera is turned vertical and the bracket flipped, the flash is UNDER the camera. So you have to turn the camera upsidedown and the S/B can now only be triggered by your thumb. And so your pictures will be upside down. Not to mention it is a very awkward way to shoot. Think about it. Most if not all cameras trigger with right index finger, so when we go vertical we turn the camera anti-clockwise and keep our finger on the S/B and the VF is in a position that keeps the body off our faces. If you want to keep the flash on top of your camera with this on you'll have to rotate the camera clockwise which is a total mess. As for the product itself the metal seems study enough but the grip is a joke. The metal is just short of unfinished. Some sharp edeges. Some tricky adjusting pieces. Be careful! They're small and get lost immediately. I didn't expect much for $ and that's just what I got. Not much. It is servicable for use as a traditional bracket. Forget the flip stuff. If only the grip were better.....

Strong stable frame to hold the flash off the camera and allow me to use a Quantum flash with or without a hot shoe. The flash swings to position above the lens for portrait shots. I like it better than the model that the camera swing. This one seem much more stable because the camera is fix to the frame that you are holding. plenty of room to add things to the hot shoe if needed. Did change the cold shoe screw to stainless steel the one it came with kept coming loose. Could only hand tighten it has no slot.

Comments about Stroboframe Quick Flip 350 Bracket:

I have the model that the camera swings from landscape to portrait. With this frame the flash swings to keep the flash over the camera. Much more room to have equipment in the hot shoe and if your holding the frame or the camera its more stable. The swing arm could be a little more snug and I replaced the thumb screw in the shoe on the arm with stainless Steel screw and locking washer. Also add second shoe to hold extra flash remote.

The thumb screw should have been cut to allow the use of screw driver so the shoe would stay in place. That why only four stars.

I lost an Impact Flash Bracket somewhere on US 421 in Kentucky. I wanted to replace it but it was discontinued, unfortunately. This was the recommended replacement. I reluctantly ordered it because I like the results I get with getting a flash out of the line of the Camera lens. It worked just fine on my very next shoot and I hope I don't leave it on the top of my car again like I did with the impact.

Very good piece for the price to ward off flash camar reducing shadows and better portraid to take photos because the flash is kept up, the only detail is that when you turn the flash part is not strong so it stays in the position.

I have used Stroboframe flash brackets for years, and I won't work without them (I'm a wedding photographer). This new version is replacing a couple VERY beat up, WELL used older Flip brackets by Stroboframe. This new version has a track on the "flipping arm" that holds the flash unit, and it allows you to adjust where the flash is mounted on the arm. Still getting used to needing to move and secure this portion of the bracket -- I think it was easier when the flash mount on the flipping arm was stationary at the furthest point out on the arm, directly above the lens (my working opinion, only).

Purchased this because I needed something quick and cheap. I am very satisfied with what I got for the price. I need to tighten the arm joint a bit because it would flop over sometimes if I held the camera in the wrong position with the weight of my 430exii on it, an the hotshoe mount is just a tad looser than I'd like it to be, but overall it's a fantastic addition to my bag.

I've been using this bracket primarily with my D7100/80-400 AF-S and Better Beamer/SB 600. The unit is well made, lightweight, and locks down securely on my camera body. The only additional feature I would like is for it to be lockable in both of the rotating bracket positions. Otherwise, it's a great product.
