Comments about Popless Voice Screens VAC-PR40 3.5" Pop Filter for the HEIL PR40 and PR30 Microphones:

It works - that is what matters. However, the overall material quality seemed weak and not very durable. I would have preferred the metal screen pop filter. This will do until I can get the other.

Comments about Popless Voice Screens VAC-PR40 3.5" Pop Filter for the HEIL PR40 and PR30 Microphones:

To all interested, this pop screen is used with a Heil PR-781 (using SM2 shock mount) for SSB transmission with my Amateur Radio Station (Ham Radio). The results are superior audio with the ability to reduce sibilance yet keep a very articulate, crisp sound. The fact that it can be adjusted for effect allows it to be used by those with different voice characteristics, eliminating "pop" and "SSSSS" no matter what kind of voice they have. Installation is simple, adjustment is easy and quick, quality is high and appearance if good. Compared with the Heil foam type wind screen.... there is no comparison! If you are looking for professional sound, this is the only way to go! Very pleased, highly recommended.

Comments about Popless Voice Screens VAC-PR40 3.5" Pop Filter for the HEIL PR40 and PR30 Microphones:

The Popless VAC-PR40 works better than the Stedman PS101 metal pop filter. The Stedman causes more air noise and sibilance because of the more solid metal creating more resistance. It also causes more plosives because of larger holes in the filter. However, I need to be closer to the filter as well as the filter being closer to the mic since I have a dynamic mic (the Heil Sound PR40). The PR40 is more sensitive than your average dynamic handheld and especially larger diaphragm studio/professional dynamic microphones at 2.9 mVs. I still need to be as close to the mic as possible to get a nice presence and to get less background noise from my untreated room with a more sensitive dynamic mic. Yes, the Stedman will last a lot longer than the fabric in the Popless VAC's, but that's the trade off (performance over durability). The nice thing about the Popless is that it has the two adjustable filters for your type of vocal style. I use both filters at furthest apart. The Stedman PS101 MAY be a better choice for a condenser mic since you could be further away and still get a good proximity effect along with a treated room. IMHO, there isn't a better pop filter for dynamic mics.

Comments about Popless Voice Screens VAC-PR40 3.5" Pop Filter for the HEIL PR40 and PR30 Microphones:

Unlike some pop filters, this one doesn't mount to the microphone itself, and therefore, it's very easy to slide out of the way when you remove the microphone from the shock mount.

But, don't assume it's flimsy either. The construction seems quite solid, and once set, the filters stay in place (thanks mostly to the relatively rigid goose-neck arm).

All in all, this is my preferred pop filter. Well done, Popless Voice Screens.
