I purchased the Fastpack 100 for carrying a Nikon D-40 SLR, lenses, and accessories while hiking and taking photos at my children's sporting events. We just got back from a week of hiking in the Rocky Mtn National Park, Colorado. I was able to pack my camera with either the 18mm to 55mm or the 55mm to 200mm attached and the other lens packed with room to spare in the lower camera compartment. I had room for a small pair of binoculars, lunch, snacks, waterproof jacket, trail maps, and a few small items in the upper compartment. The side mesh pocket was great for carrying a water bottle. I used the small built-in strap pouch to hold my cell phone or some times my mp3 player. The accessory band on the other shoulder strap perfectly held my daughters Lowepro camera case when she was along. The bag was very comfortable even on a 15 mile hike along the Alluvial Fan to Lawn Lake. However what I liked most about the bag was the ability to swing the bag around on my shoulder and unzip the lower compartment for quick access to my camera without having to stop hiking and sit the bag on the ground as is necessary with other bags. The size, weight, comfort and ease of use exceeded my expectations. I would like to see Lowepro add the waterproof cover to this line in the future for those occasions when you are away from shelter and caught in the rain.

This bag is handy in the sense that you can quickly get to your camera with all the flaps buckled and all. It was, however, barely large enough to fit my Nikon D90 with my 18-105 mm zoom attached--and only a bit awkwardly and with the dividers arranged in a strange, unintended way. I would be fine with a prime lens or a smaller zoom, but anything larger would require that you unmount the lens before you could put it back in the bag.

Comments about Fastpack 100 Backpack (Red/Black):

Good pack for camera and a few lenses. I bought this for my wife to use on trips. Her current bag would not hold all her equipment. Thought this one would be a little bigger. It wasn't. She likes it, good quality, but don't expect it to hold a lot. Very narrow in profile.

Comments about Fastpack 100 Backpack (Red/Black):

This pack works good for short day trips. This will fit a smaller DSL or mirrorless camera with a short lens attached and a spare lens. The side pocket is good for a water bottle. The top pocket is on the small side but could hold a sandwich or a sweater.

It can fit an aps-c dslr with a prime or normal zoom attached, but will not fit with a telephoto zoom attached. It's comfortable and easy to use otherwise.

Comments about Fastpack 100 Backpack (Red/Black):

I bought this backpack on sale, read reviews before purchase. I put a D750 with 28-300 mm with len hood attached in bottom portion and it is a tight fit, can use an inch more in width/length. I also put a D90 with Tokina 12-24mm with len hood attached also in top portion of the backpack with len pointing up. It fit well there except no cushioning. The water bottle holder is barely enough to fit a regular plastic bottle. The straps and padding are comfortable.
I used the above setup for 9 days in yellow stone and grand teton and it worked out fine. No shoulder pain, it came on and off back easy. One day it was raining hard in the middle of a hike. I used a jacket to cover the backpack on back and the inside was not wet at all after the hike.

      Highly recommended.

On a second thought, might want to look into fastpack 200 just may be for little bit more room.

I've used it at a car club meeting and the next day for a museum tour. A lot easier than carrying a camera bag. Everything is there for me-camera, lenses, strobe, batteries, SD cards.

If just a little larger I could get a few more thing in.

It will also be used as an emergency bag when I work emergency communications.

Good material and well made product, well worth the price I paid for it.

Comments about Fastpack 100 Backpack (Red/Black):

I got this backpack to replace a shoulder bag. It is more stable while walking on rough terrain. The shoulder bag would swing and I needed to steady it with a hand.

It holds a Canon 6D with 24-105 lens (with hood reversed)and extra 16-35 f4 lens (with hood removed and put in upper compartment). There is room in the upper compartment for flash and accessories.

The only problem I have had is that swinging it off the shoulder to access the camera compartment is not nearly as easy as the demo video showed. I deducted a star for this.

Comments about Fastpack 100 Backpack (Red/Black):

The actual camera space is good enough for a camera with a small lens as well as an extra lens. However, as my camera is a Sony alpha 58, the right grip causes the extra lens space to be reduced as well as leaving wasted space. The top portion of the backpack is quite roomy. Overall it is a nice small comfortable pack.

Comments about Fastpack 100 Backpack (Red/Black):

I bought this backpack because it was on sale for a huge discount; needless to say I was fairly impressed with the build of it, very well constructed, the zippers are not a hassle to work with, and the compartments are easily modified. The main reason that I bought this bag was because I needed something more easily carried than a shoulder strap bag that I already had.
All in all, this bag is a great purchase for a day trip with friends or walking around town with a single camera and maybe 1 extra lens. The size would not be sufficient for a multi-lens set up or any humongous lenses. Easy to carry and easy to gain access to whatever you need!

Fits Canon 60D with 18-200mm lens plus a 50mm lens, extra battery, intervelometer, a couple filters, a few snacks, bottle water, and compressed rain coat.

I haven't gone hiking yet to tryout out my new backpack but it does fit my Nikon 5200 with an 18-140 mm lense perfectly with room for a flash. There is also lots of room in the other sections and a clip for my keys and it feels like it will be very comfortable. The last time I went hiking my camera was swinging all over the place and I was worried about damaging it. This back pack will be exactly what I needed.
