I bought this pack specifically for a 3 week trip through Europe. I needed a pack for my Nikon D300 (w/ grip), telephoto lens, 50mm lens, computer, and various electronics and cables.
After 'living' with the pack every day of the trip, I am very satisfied with it's design and performance. The pack probably weighed in at 20+ pounds fully loaded. The straps are comfortable and sturdy although I'm not a big fan of the sternum buckle and waist straps (wish I could disconnect the sternum buckle from the main straps). I tried using the 'fastpack' feature a couple of times but found that I didn't trust the overall stability (due to the weight I was carrying) in getting my camera out of the pack one-handed. It was not difficult to just set the pack down and safely remove the camera. The pack's contents are well protected from occasional rough handling. I only exposed the pack to light rain, so I can't comment on more extreme water protection.
It was easy to clear all security points (airports, museums, etc) with the pack and the outside pockets made it easy to access my travel documents. There is just enough room in the upper chamber to carry some extra clothes, if needed. The pack fit easily in overhead compartments on trains and airplanes.
I'm very satisfied with taking this pack on an extended trip.

Good Camera Backpack- some shortcomings

It was bought for a series of daytrips to photograph scenery, wild horses, birds, and dolphins. Camera equipment is a D3s with 20-70 mm and 80--400 mm lenses.

It was bought for a series of daytrips to photograph scenery, wild horses, birds, and dolphins. Camera equipment is a D3s with 20-70 mm and 80--400 mm lenses.

Lowepro makes a great camera bag. It is easy to use and easy to load and unload the camera or lenses, even on a moving boat. It is comfortable and can be worn for hours. The mesh back provides some air circulation in a warm environment.

However, the chest strap came loose only 4 days into a 2 week trip. It is not sewed on and is only a plastic clamp that loosely attaches to a roll of plastic on the shoulder strap. Were it not for this shortcoming, it would receive a higher rating.

My4th Fastpack 350 Backpack

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

I'm a newspaper photographer and use this bag everyday. It was enough storage for my equipment and supplies that I'll need at sporting events or for news stories. Great bags for all types of weather too, being in Northern Wisconsin, it sees bitter cold winters for up to five months a year and protects all of my stuff. I've had it in the blue, red and now black colors. Great bag for my needs.

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

I use my pack pack everyday for everything. I don't have many lenses so with the extra slots in the bottom compartment I can fit some other stuff I need. Like if I'm going in a trip I can pack a roll of socks in there. The top compartment is really spacious. I haven't been able to fill it up yet. Only thing I don't like about it is the bottom straps. They are way too big for me. I am pretty skinny so that might be why.

I've only had the backpack for a week or two but so far it seems great. It holds alot of gear. Almost too much. I think I lost some things in there somewhere. So far I've got 2 cameras, 2 lenses (one long, one short), flashlight, batteries, cables, shutter release, flash, a small child, and the other sock, and a partridge in a pear tree. Its amazing. Seems sturdy and well built and most importantly for me, its very comfortable.

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

So far this was my Best Buy of my entire 10+ camera bags. Good quality and well designed. It holds up to my 5D MK 2 with 24-70 L f/2.8 on(in the top)and 50D with 70-200 L f/2.8 II in the main pocket at the bottom, also enough spaces for speed light and extra 100mm L f/2.8 macro with my mini tripod on the side bag. Very practical bag! Worth to buy with special offer now due to the second generation just out.

The laptop compartment is very big and all of the zippers are weather sealed with flaps.

          I highly recommend it.

I use this strictly for traveling and needed something that could tote a 17" laptop while carrying the bare essentials for my gear. I'm able to fit two 1D bodies and a couple lenses in there, but with some creative arranging I'm sure I'd be able to fit more. Great value!

I searched a long time to find a high quality backpack that would hold camera gear, accessories, personal items, and had a full size laptop compartment (this one holds up to a 17"). I had to be double strapped (no sling bags, please), and have a waist strap. Several fit the bill, but this Lowepro turned out to be the best product to accommodate all my needs at a great price. I have three other Lowepro products for my equipment and they all have been very durable and intelligently designed.

It's great having a camera backpack that will allow me to keep the battery grip on my camera. I has room for extra lenses, backup camera, filters, batteries, etc.
Once I adjusted the belts it fits great.
I tested to see if my 17inch laptop fits and it does.
It is very stiff and a bit uncomfortable with the laptop in it, but I will rarely have my laptop in this backpack.

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

I bought this bag from B&H a few weeks back and I've used it twice so far. Ergonomically, it is well created and well structured. My gear is as follows:1. Canon EOS Rebel T32. Canon EFS 18-55mm IS kit lens with Marumi DHG CPF.3. Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II4. Tamron 70-300mm SP VC Di XLD with B+W MRC UV filterI attach my tamron most of the times to my camera body and carry it since that is my favorite lens so far. The total size of that lens+body combo comes to about 9 inches (with the lens hood reversed or without it) and it fits perfectly with lots of space left in the main compartment. If I keep my lens hood mounted in the normal direction, the total length becomes almost 12 inches which almost fits, I say almost because I can still close the zipper on the side without much effort but the lens hood touches the other end of the compartment leaving a little cramped up space for the shoulder strap to snuggle in the sides. With a full frame camera, I am not quite sure as to how good it would be a fit with the lens hood attached. The waist strap is really good and it supports the weight really well without it falling on your lower hips. The shoulder straps are well made and feel quite light with a heavy bag. I was able to carry almost 14-15 pounds in this bag with a laptop in the back (which was spacious even after I put in my 15.4" lenovo! It can very well hold a 17" plus a couple of small-sized notebooks!) The compartment above the camera compartment is well made as well and it can hold anything you want of about 9"x11"x5". The material of the bag is pretty well made, although I wouldn't call it 'water-proof' but it will hold up well in mild showers. Finally, the camera compartment flap has very good padding on all sides. The velcro separators are removable or adjustable as you find fit. The only thing I found quite annoying, although that is not what it is supposed to be used as, was when I wanted to remove my kit lens from one of the compartments with my bag in a sling position. I was not able to remove the lenses which makes sense since the compartments are tall enough to not let the lenses fall. You have to put it back like a normal bag and then, open the flap completely and remove the lenses which I guess is normal for bags with this structure. Overall, I really love this bag since it makes your gear seem pretty light and it suits me well for my current gear and hobby. :)

When I first received it I thought it was too big. But, after using it is the right size for me. It holds numerous lenses, a DSLR camera, flash unit, all accessories needed for me to carry out my photo needs. Plus it has space to add a lightweight coat, gloves, hat, flashlight and other items. It has an outside zippered compartment in which I store my snacks. It also has an outside water bottle holder which is great. It doesn't have a tripod carrying straps, but no big deal to me. I carry straps to affix it to the back of the backpack, which keeps the load centered for comfort.I keep my manuals in the laptop panel. I figured I couldn't go wrong with a pack from Lowepro.

This bag is great. I can fit my D3100 with attached lens plus carry 4 additional lenses. The top has room for my Gorilla pod and much more. Very pleased with my purchase.

Quality but not the space it boasts.

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

A lot of the reviews I read talked about it having more than enough space for pretty much the exact equipment I have. I find that my equipment is a little snug for my liking and therefore not so easy to manage. In the sectioned compartment I have a Canon 6d with battery grip and 70-200 f/2.8 attached, a crop sensor body with battery grip, a 24-70 f/2.8 lens, and a 50mm f1.4. The large zipper section is nice but things tend to roll around in there. In using this as more or a transporting pack I should have looked into a case. Websites tend to push this pack for the wrong reasons, I believe.
