I originally purchased this lens for real estate work. The ultra wide angle and the fast 2.8 aperture were ideal for capturing the tight shooting conditions that homes have to offer. Little did I know upon purchasing this lens, I would be using it for more than real estate. Having it in my bag at a motocross shoot, I decided to give a shot. Motocross isn't the easiest sport to shoot considering the fast paced action. Paired with a 7D I was a amazed at how quickly and accurately this lens focused for being a 3rd party lens. Not only did the focus outperform expectations, I was delighted with the color, everything popped, which is ideal when you capture landscape, sky and the rider. I have a also used this lens for many mountain bike shoots only to be impressed with similar results. The construction is different than Canon brand lenses, but it still feels just as durable. The only noticeable characteristic that some may consider a con is the autofocus noise. It is noticeable, but not enough to turn down this performance lens. It is nearly half the price of a Canon brand equivalent, so I never expected it to be on par with the name brand yet it performs and keeps performing. The switch between autofocus is neat and convenient. To engage autofocus, you simply push the focus ring toward the front of the lens and to engage manual focus you pull it toward the camera body. If you are looking for an ultra wide on a budget, this is the way to go! So impressed that this lens is always mounted to either of my bodies because I always find a use for it.

I spent HOURS trying to decide between this and the Canon 10-22. I wanted the sharpest lens in this price bracket. I first got the Canon and got sharpness similar to my normal zoom lens (18-200mm). I was hoping for better so I ordered the Tokina 11-16 and did a side by side comparison at 11mm and 16mm at 3.5 and 4.5 respectivly. The center sharpness was about the same, but the edges on the Tokina shot were ridiculously soft. No comparison. I wish I had back all the time I wasted on considering this lens.

Also the Tokina is considerably heavier and the zoom ring rotates the reverse directions that Canon users are used to.

Comments about Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X 116 Pro DX Autofocus Lens for Canon APS-C DSLRs:

I use this lens for landscapes and for car shows. Works great for car shows when there's not a lot of room to work with between cars, also good for wide angle shots of the entire show. Fast aperture works well in low light.

Comments about Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X 116 Pro DX Autofocus Lens for Canon APS-C DSLRs:

I was VERY unhappy with the 14mm 2.8... oh if only I had heeded Sam Rockwell's advice & stayed clear, but I didn't. Cost was a big concern, but I was being penny-wise & dollar foolish. This Tokina is very well built & for the money I doubt one can do any better. So far I am pleased with all of the photos I have taken with it. I was concerned that it might introduce distortion (curved lines) to my compositions, but this is not the case. I feel good about this purchase, I would recommend it to a friend. I really can't think of anything negative to say about it other than if I can ever afford a full-frame DSLR I probably won't be able to use this lens with it, but that's years from now.

I was referred to this lens by a friend whom is a real estate photographer, and I'm getting into that as well. He suggested that I rent it first which I did, and boy was he right! I purchased it without a second thought, and will also use it for my wedding shots of large bridal parties, as well as the family shots. I've already used it for a wedding on the beach where the couple wanted that landscape shot, and it did not disappoint. So glad that I have added it to my repertoire.

This is a great wide-angle lens for APS-C cameras. I used this on a trip to the grand canyon recently and this lens is super sharp, especially at the centre. Tiny bit soft at the corners wide open but nothing serious, sharp all the way across once you stop down. Lens flaring was also not as bad as i expected after reading all the reviews. Also built like a tank.

I recommend this lens 11mm-16mm to complement the low end range for my use.

It's one of my basic lens that I use to record wedding video with my Nikon D7100. It works very good in low light conditions where I could say that almost always I can find an appropriate ISO level for an aperture of my tokina and get a good perfomance.

I really like this lens. I love having all of my lenses be f/2.8 as I tend to shoot in low light and like wide open apertures. Switching from one lens to the next or not having to worry about variable aperture lenses at wide open helps here, especially shooting full manual. 11-16 is plenty wide and the distortion at the edges doesn't bother me like I thought it might. Most people when hearing 11mm ask if it's a fisheye. It most certainly is not. One thing that's weird for me is that the zoom ring rotates the opposite direction of my Canon glass. I have to remind myself to try rotating the other direction to see if I can indeed go wider.

If I still shot action sports like Rollerblading/Skating I would use it for that too. It dose produce a flare but but im not complaining it makes some shots look epic and cinematic.

Comments about Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X 116 Pro DX Autofocus Lens for Canon APS-C DSLRs:

I use the lens for filming real estate and a few other projects and it's superb. It's solid, responsive and produces a beautifully wide shot, for video and pictures.

This lens is very clean and sharp. It needs a Fstop vs depth of field scale.

Comments about Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X 116 Pro DX Autofocus Lens for Canon APS-C DSLRs:

I have been wanting a wide angle lens for a few years after getting my 50D as a gift and settling for the kit lens, a 50MM and a 40MM and some extension tubes for Macro photography.

I read a lot of reviews on Wide Angle lenses and decided that the Tokina had great comments and was a good price for what the lens can provide.

So far I've used it in the Brooklyn Botanical and gotten some great shots in the garden and of the building outfront - at a wedding shower to get a lot of shots of the interraction of the guests and haven't been disappointed with the results.

The shots are clear, the lens is fast and easy to use - the added weight isn't really too bad - considering I use my 50MM or 40MM which weigh a lot less. I do carry an extra lens with me to get more bokeh or close up of people, but what I was missing from my lens arsenal, the Tokina has provided.

Comments about Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X 116 Pro DX Autofocus Lens for Canon APS-C DSLRs:

I used the product outdoors and indoors for last month with new Canon T5i Camera.

The things I like about the lens:
                        Construction - feels sturdy
                        Focus Ring is smooth
Auto-focus/Manual focus option on front ring (good in theory, though Auto-focus does not actually work well with camera, all focus points are not engaged

                        Things I did not like:
Auto-focus does not work well on Canon t5i
Flash does not work unless you are about 3m (10 feet) from the subject
Vignetting with UV filter with Polarizing Filter
Strong visible subject distortion in outermost 1/3 of photo area.
