Comments about Travel Coat For the Nikon 200-400 VR AF Lens (Black):

Thought this was going to be perfect when transporting the lens. Unfortunately it's as if they got the wrong size. If the flap which goes around the lens would have been a little wider by an inch or two this would have been a great fit. As it is - one must really pull on the edges to get the velcro to stick. Can't say that this offers full protection.

Comments about Travel Coat For the Nikon 200-400 VR AF Lens (Black):

I now have all of my long lenses fitted with LensCoat Travel Coats and Hoodies. Protects them against dust in storage as well as in my bags when I travel long or short distances. I don't have to worry about the small bumps and dings they get inside my bags (It wouldn't protect against a heavy blow). The Travel Coats for the 200-400 and 300 3.8 easily stretch around the front of the lens with the Nikon hood attached and inverted. I also use the Travel Coat to secure the XX Large Hoodie to the front of these two lenses - Hoodie goes on first, Travel Coat wraps around Hoodie (think of these two as modular items). I don't see any problems with the fit. Light weight and unobtrusive, I wouldn't think of flying without them (although I provide additional padding between Travel Coated lenses for flights, they still provide extra measures of protection).

Comments about Travel Coat For the Nikon 200-400 VR AF Lens (Black):

Like most photographers, I wont trust my $8,000 lens to airline checked baggage. The Nikon case is bomb-proof but huge so I required some simple lightweight lens protection for carry-on. Regretably, this product is a perfect example of a great concept ruined by poor design. It's approx half an inch too short which leaves the 'fat' end of the lens vulnerable to damage. A hoodie resolves this problem but that means an additional purchase. Annoyingly, the coat won't fit fully around the lens hood when it is reversed for travelling unless tightly streched which means the 3mm thick neoprene is thinned down by stretching and does not fully provide the intended protection. The Velcro fastening is also stressed. Just a little more generous cut during manufacture would change a fail product into a killer product. I have written to Mr LensCoat separatly so perhaps he will fix these shortcomings in the next model and I will then buy one for each of my lenses. Meanwhile, in it's current form I would only recommend it to my enemies.

Comments about Travel Coat For the Nikon 200-400 VR AF Lens (Black):

I was a tad disappointed in this product. When the fabric hood cover is on the lens (which it needs to be since the TravelCoat does not cover the front), the TravelCoat has to be stretched quite a bit to go around the hood cover, and the Velcro holding it together is quite strained. Perhaps the TravelCoat will stretch with time, but I am baffled as to why they would apparently not take the fabric hood cover into account when sizing the product.
