Comments about Focusrite OctoPre MkII - Microphone Preamp:

Using this wonderful mic preamp with RODE NT2-A condenser microphones hooked up to a Tascam SD24 multitrack recorder. I had read varying opinions on whether or not to use a stand alone preamp for condensers, and I am here to tell you, for me, this was an essential addition to this recording gear.

This preamp, simply makes the recording less strained and open. This literally amplifies the clean detail of which these great are capable.

Using this recording set up for solo high brass; brass trio; brass ensemble and other configurations suitable for multi track recording. Plus 8 inputs for 8 separate microphones. This preamp offers phantom power to groups of 4 mics as well.

A better Focusrite preamp than this one offers compression for those of you with greater need for a professional final mixdown. But for my use, this is perfect!
