It seems like good stuff.

I'm about to take it out on a 1 week test to Florida to see if I'm keeping it or returning it. I have a bigger REI camping pack that I've converted into a video camera bag. That is what I use for my big project shoots, when I need to carry cables, full-size portable drives, and other audio gear. For this trip I am shooting a friends wedding and doing a whole bunch of trips around the gulf side of Florida. I don't want or need to bring my regular gear. All I need to bring is a laptop, DVX100, power adapters, 2 packs of tape (10 pieces), wireless lavalier, extra batteries, charger, little P&S camera, and a monopod (the monopods with the little tripod feet at the bottom - Bogen 560B).

So far I like its size and firmness. I was also looking and comparing it with the Crumpler Customary Barge. I spent almost an hour taking the two bags apart and configuring them to fit my stuff and decided on the Tamrac because it was just firmer and better at being modular whereas the Crumpler was too crumply, soggy, squishy even though the back support was nice. I also like that the laptop compartment on the Tamrac is separate from the main compartment. In the Crumpler you have to open the main compartment, where all my gear would be, expose it and then open a long velcro flap that may or may not be covered by gear. The Tamrac is easy to just unzip and take out the laptop or papers, no fuzzing with other gear.

I do like the build quality. Seems solid enough. We'll see. The only thing I wish is that it had a few external loops to either hang or bungy tie things to. But I do also like that it doesn't have that tell tale signs that you are packing some gear. It is a really simple and discreet looking bag. the only thing saying that it is a camera bag is the small rubber Tamrac logo, which can be removed.

I'll update on how it handles out on the road when I get back from the trip.

i travel with a 15" macbook pro and a canon 5d plus 3 lenses. i need extra room as a carry on for comfort items on long flights. this bag seemed fine but the zippers were not up to the task. the design puts so much stress on the laptop zipper that it went on the 3rd trip, rendering the bag useless because it sags open. i ditched it. otherwise, it was well padded and and good room...

It appears that this bag will fit exactly what I need. I will pack my camera equipment in the slots allotted and my CPAP machine should fit the top pocket just fine. All of this will leave some space for cords, hoses, batteries, etc.

Bought this for carrying camera equipment and a laptop daily. Have had this pack for over a month now and it is working great. Zippers and compartments are holding up well. Plenty of room for my camera. Nikon 5200, flash, 4 lenses, several chargers, extra batteries and my laptop. The padded straps are nice and comfortable. So far it is a GREAT pack. No issues at all. Would buy again.

Owning several backpacks i never have been able to find the perfect size for a weekend shoot. Either the backpack is too small or too big. I just got the 3380 Aero 80 and love it!!!! This will be perfect for a weekend trip on a plane. The seperate laptop compartment will be easy to take out for TSA and the upper compartment is an excellent size for enough clothes for the weekend.
            Thank you Tamrac!!!!!!!

Comments about 3380 Aero 80 Photo/Laptop Backpack (Rust):

I'm in my second Tamrac bag. In fact, I purchased the exact same bag I had. The first kinda died during a trip, and it wasn't the bag itself, but the zipper. This backpack can take a lot, and has several pockets and compartments. Usually I carry a Nikon D700 with an AF-s 24-70 lens, and a Leica M body with one or two lenses, film and assorted filters (and a flash for the Nikon!). Then, I also carry a Macbook. I believe the zipper (from the laptop compartment) gave up because of age, not abuse. I traveled extensively with mine, carrying an average of 20 pounds. Since I got my previous one used, I'm expecting this one to last me longer.

This is the 3rd one of these I bought. None wore out, just bought them for multiple cameras. This is a great bag for carrying a good deal of camera gear PLUS a good deal of personal gear in top. If you're looking for something to carry a jacket, some layers, a hat, etc. these daypack bags are hard to beat. Since these are no longer made and most daypack camera bags are a joke in terms of space for personal items...my next pack will most likely be the Mindshift Panorama 180, which looks to be a great pack.

Comments about 3380 Aero 80 Photo/Laptop Backpack (Rust):

I needed a camera backpack that would not only carry the camera gear but a lot of other, non-photographic stuff too. In the past I used a padded bag insert to make any backpack/bag a camera bag. While that worked great because I could grab any backpack, it also always made it difficult to access my camera gear because I had to dig through all my stuff piled on top of the insert before I could get to a lens or a speedlight. Not to mention that had anything leaked, like a water bottle, it would have leaked all over the insert and possibly the stuff inside...yikes! So, I looked at a bunch of other bags that have a separate bottom compartment for camera gear and another compartment on top for other stuff. Majority of backpacks of this type either had the camera compartment too small, or the top compartment could only hold a granola bar and a pair of sunglasses, or if both compartments were big enough the whole backpack was huge. There were a few I found that were decent but they cost more than some of my lenses.... ugh, no, thanks; I'd rather get another lens.Tamrac Aero 80 had what for me was the perfect balance of the size, functionality, and price. Fits my 2 DSLR bodies, 3 lenses total, a full size flash, chargers, spare AAs, and a few other knick-knacks...all in the bottom compartment. This leaves the top compartment reserved for everything else :-) For me the laptop compartment is a bonus since I do not carry a laptop so I can use that space for other things. Oh, and the camera compartment can be removed so that the whole backpack becomes a standard laptop backpack. I have only taken it out a few times but from what I can tell it will last a while.Yes, I know the year is 2015 and this backpack has been released at least 7 years ago and probably already discontinued... but, honestly, who cares. It looks better than many of the new ones out there; especially the Rust color (IMO). If you need a no BS, sturdy camera/multipurpose backpack, this is a great choice.

This bag is light weight and perfect for what I want to use it for. It will fit under a chair on a plane, safely house my camera and allow me plenty of room for random stuff and my laptop. It's also very light weight which is always a plus.

I have been looking at this bag for a couple of years and finally decided to buy it. Searched everywhere online since there are no retailers in my area that had it in stock. The price at B&H photo was half the price of everywhere else I looked. A lot of storage for camera equipment and having the laptop sleeve is great as well. Waterproof zippers keep equipment dry even if caught out in the rain. Would highly recommend this bag

This bag has great size matched with ideal function. I am a mom, traveler, and amateur hobbyist. This camera bag allows me to pack everything in one easy to carry bag. It's the perfect choice for just around town or if you are going on an extended vacation. I am able to pack my camera body with my everyday lens attached, zoom lens, macro lens, speedlight, and all the other little extras as well. All of that fits in just one compartment leaving room for my laptop and purse in the other two. The ouside pockets allow me to take along a water bottle and have easy access to my cell phone. The front mesh pocket is a great place for the lens cap that I am always misplacing. I couldn't have designed a better bag myself.

i use the backpack on the go, it helps with the gear i carry with me. the top section is great for little things you need to bring with you on a day trip. bottom section of the bag is for the camera gear, very versatile to accomadate your gear. And when you add the cinch straps for the tripod, it is best cause its in a position where it balances the whole bag.

The bag seems well constructed. I travel a fair amount, so I needed something that would fit under a plane seat. It will protect the camera well and will allow me to pack some basic needs. Hawaii next week, so I am curious to find out if it works out as well as it appears now.
