It seems like good stuff.

I'm about to take it out on a 1 week test to Florida to see if I'm keeping it or returning it. I have a bigger REI camping pack that I've converted into a video camera bag. That is what I use for my big project shoots, when I need to carry cables, full-size portable drives, and other audio gear. For this trip I am shooting a friends wedding and doing a whole bunch of trips around the gulf side of Florida. I don't want or need to bring my regular gear. All I need to bring is a laptop, DVX100, power adapters, 2 packs of tape (10 pieces), wireless lavalier, extra batteries, charger, little P&S camera, and a monopod (the monopods with the little tripod feet at the bottom - Bogen 560B).

So far I like its size and firmness. I was also looking and comparing it with the Crumpler Customary Barge. I spent almost an hour taking the two bags apart and configuring them to fit my stuff and decided on the Tamrac because it was just firmer and better at being modular whereas the Crumpler was too crumply, soggy, squishy even though the back support was nice. I also like that the laptop compartment on the Tamrac is separate from the main compartment. In the Crumpler you have to open the main compartment, where all my gear would be, expose it and then open a long velcro flap that may or may not be covered by gear. The Tamrac is easy to just unzip and take out the laptop or papers, no fuzzing with other gear.

I do like the build quality. Seems solid enough. We'll see. The only thing I wish is that it had a few external loops to either hang or bungy tie things to. But I do also like that it doesn't have that tell tale signs that you are packing some gear. It is a really simple and discreet looking bag. the only thing saying that it is a camera bag is the small rubber Tamrac logo, which can be removed.

I'll update on how it handles out on the road when I get back from the trip.

i travel with a 15" macbook pro and a canon 5d plus 3 lenses. i need extra room as a carry on for comfort items on long flights. this bag seemed fine but the zippers were not up to the task. the design puts so much stress on the laptop zipper that it went on the 3rd trip, rendering the bag useless because it sags open. i ditched it. otherwise, it was well padded and and good room...

Great as an airline carry on. When using it as a camera bag, I used the laptop pocket to carry shorts/ jeans and it worked out very well. Very happy I chose this one.

Comments about 3380 Aero 80 Photo/Laptop Backpack (Black):

For 40 years we travel all over the world on long trips and have used many camera bags - but the 3380 is the most intelligent bag we have come across.

Because the design is light weight, we are able to carry more equipment + laptop's more comfortably on our backs.

The bags fits nicely into to the overhead bins on aircraft, and is easy for walking down the aisle of the plane.

I also like the pocket for carry a lightweight jacket when out and about.

            Money well spent.

Comments about 3380 Aero 80 Photo/Laptop Backpack (Rust):

Although I'm primarily a computer programmer at my company, I also do some photography for them and carry this bag to work daily. I have a Canon EOS 50D which fits in the bag easily with a battery grip but I mostly carry my Canon EOS Rebel T2i (550D) with a battery grip, a Canon 15-85 lens attached, a Canon 60mm macro, and Canon 430 EX II flash. There's plenty of room for additional batteries and SD cards as well as a hand-held device, my journal, my lunch, and a light jacket. The pocket in the back easily holds my Dell vostro laptop.

This bag is solid and well-made, as you'd expect from Tamrac, and carries easily. And, this bag doesn't shout, "Camera gear inside".

I believe a waist belt and sternum strap would be all I might add but overall, I'm very pleased with this backpack.

Great backpack for bus trips. Can store your laptop, camera gear, and a little more. Ideal for those with only a few lenses, and not that much equipment in general. Fabric seems a little stiff but I'm sure it will loosen up a little with use.

This is the first camera backpack that I have bought, and it is everything I hoped it would be! I can fit my 7D with a 28-135, 50mm 1.4, and 75-300, an audio connection box, and a flash. All of that is just in the camera compartment, but then I can also easily fit my 15" macbook pro and cables for that. Then still have room in the main compartment for a jacket, or really anything else you want. The only thing that I dont really love about this bag is the laptop slot. It has this rubberized covering around the zipper, which makes it water resistant, but rather difficult to zip. So, all in all, a very good bag.

The laptop pouch is huge - should fit almost any size any brand. The straps are well padded and very comfortable. The backpack has two parts to store gear with a divider that can be folded out of the way for one large area. Easy to fit one body, lenses, flash, etc. and doesn't strain my back.

This is the first bag that I have bought, it it very well constructed and all of my gear fits in it. You do have to play tetris to get it all to fit though. My 70-300mm lens must stand up and down to fit well. the top compartment is not very big either, it won't fit a magazine or book unless it's sideways. I Wish it had the straps on the back for a tripod, there are loops on the bottom for your own straps though.

I was looking for a camera bag that could double as a daypack. This bag meets this criteria. Good features include that the camera section can be totally reconfigured (or removed) to gain more daypack space. If you can pack lightly, it is possible to get a camera or two (a DSLR plus a smaller camera) plus clothing for several days and, thus, eliminate the need to carry two bags.

I really like this bookbag. I have a Nikon D90 and like to carry it around with me all the time and this bag, with its padded enclosure always me to do so safely. I can also fit my 17" laptop into it as well. I feel that the pocket was designed for slimmer laptops though such as the 17" MacBook Pro. Mine does still fit though. Because of the size of my laptop, the bookbag can sometimes be a little uncomfortable on my back, but not ever that bad. With a smaller laptop, it should feel just fine. I wish the compartment for other things was a little bigger, but I understand that the way the bag is designed, there's only so much room. Other than that, I still do enjoy this bag and would recommend it to anyone!

i travel with a 15" macbook pro and a canon 5d plus 3 lenses. i need extra room as a carry on for comfort items on long flights. this bag seemed fine but the zippers were not up to the task. the design puts so much stress on the laptop zipper that it went on the 3rd trip, rendering the bag useless because it sags open. i ditched it. otherwise, it was well padded and and good room...

I have had several backpacks fo rmy camera equipment and this one works better than any. With a safe place for equipment plus the laptop compartment and finally, a place to put a light jacket, lunch or other other small items, it works great.

I bought this bag so as to be able to easily fit my limited camera equipment, plus be able to carry a laptop and small electronic items, when we go on trips. The upper compartment is pretty roomy, and can carry quite a lot of stuff. The laptop compartment is well padded.

The only con I see is that the individual slots for lenses, and the protective strap running across the middle, are not customizable enough. You can move them around a bit, but it seems somewhat limited to me. For limited equipment it is OK, more than a few different items and it might not work so well.

Other than that, I love the bag.
