This tripod is built like a tank. I ordered both the CT314 and CT214 as I was undecided in which would better fit my needs. After much consideration, the bulkier size of the 314 meant it had to go back to B&H. I just didn't need the additional size for my set-up. It is not substantially longer when folded than the 214 but significantly larger when extended.

Not For Larger Lens

I was told by the B&H salesperson that this model could handle my Canon 600mm lens. The leg broke after two months. Then the leg came apart.

Comments about Induro 8X CT-314 Carbon Fiber Tripod:

So far I am happy with this item. I own a Gitzo travel tripod, but needed a taller, more sturdy one for portrait work. Compared to my other one, I think the Gitzo is better built, but it's minor for the price difference of this size tripod. This Induro is fast to setup, and locks in solid. It was a bit longer when folded than I imagined, but very managable. The Feisol I looked at was much lighter too, but this one seems much more sturdy. I have pinched myself with the center column lock once, but I do like the style of it for getting a good lock. This is tall enough for me to use without that column anyway, and I am 6'1" tall. Overall a nice product.

Comments about Induro 8X CT-314 Carbon Fiber Tripod:

I absolutely love my Induro Tripod. I'm 6' tall and this is perfect for me, even in high heels. The package came with a free case and extras that I wasn't expecting.
Thank you, I'll be shopping here again.

        Better than expected

Comments about Induro 8X CT-314 Carbon Fiber Tripod:

One thing we photographers have to consider is the quality of the gear we use, especially our tripods which bear our expensive camera and lenses, however, in the real world price can become a factor. I had to replace a Gitzo for still photos (I shoot mostly video, but do a fair amount of photos), but at the time, my budget was a bit tight. I looked at a couple of cheaper options, and was impressed by the price and build of this tripod. After using it a few times, I was quite impressed with the sturdiness of the tripod. Compared to the many Manfrotto and Slik (comparable price) this was clearly a superior product. I've used Gitzo's as well and feel that the Induro is quite comparable. When tightened, the legs don't slip under the weight of the load (which I experience with my Gitzo). I can't give it a 5 star rating as I have only had the tripod for a half year and can't speak to the durability. Hopefully, it will with stand the harsh conditions I put my gear through for the long run!

This is a beefy tripod but folds down nicely. I use this for real estate and portrait work. So far so good. The twist lock legs are a joy to use and the whole thing is much better than my previous Manfrotto aluminum tripod. Worth the money.

Comments about Induro 8X CT-314 Carbon Fiber Tripod:

I've had this tripod on a couple jobs now and love it. It's a stout tripod but very manageable. It folds down nice and short and is quite light. I've never used it with the legs fully extended but do like that it is very tall fully extended. The leg twist locks are beefy and smooth. I'm so glad I chose this tripod.

Comments about Induro 8X CT-314 Carbon Fiber Tripod:

I have had this tripod (Induro 8X CT-314), for 3 years. Almost exclusively for bird photography. It has been with me to Ecuador, Trinidad, Panama, and a few times to Costa Rica. I use a 500mm f/4 lens mounted on a Wimberly gimbal. Wieght is not an issue with this tripod. For air travel, I disassemble the center column from tripod and pack tripod and column to the back of my suitcase.
Many photographers do not like a center column on a tripod. This center column is strong and stiff. And it is a real convenience when you need just a little more height and don't have time to adjust all three legs.
The foam padding on the three legs is great when hiking along with camera rig mounted to tripod and balancing on my shoulder. But the foam on one leg is tearing, so I wrapped the foam tube in electrical tape. At some point I will have to replace the foam leg padding, but it has lasted longer than I thought it would.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Tripod maintenance is extremely important. Any tripod, not just this tripod. I always wipe-down the tripod after rain, which is more times than not. I thought I was being diligent but after the last rain filled trip to Costa Rica one leg on tripod really froze at its pivot point (at the spider). I contacted Induro and they couldn't have been more helpful. They sent me replacement part I needed and more important they sent me a write-up of the proper maintenance of the tripod. What I was missing is proper maintenance of leg bushings at the spider assembly, all clearly explained in the maintenance write-up. If this maintenance write-up does not come with your Induro tripod, contact the service department: you'll be glad you did. Check the spider bushings often.
I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this tripod, and if for some reason I had to replace this tripod, I would go with the same, Induro 8X CT-314.

Well made, sturdy, easily adjusted center column. Nice case. I like that the spikes are separate. I have a nice scratch on my BMW from another tripod where the spikes were inadvertently exposed - don't care to repeat that! If I remove the head it will fit in my suitcase on the diagonal. I'm a small person so it's a bit too heavy for hiking around with, but the weight is clearly stated so not a complaint.

I love Benro products and found this because I had purchased another brand of tripod based on the reviews and hated it. B&H took it back without any trouble and I wrote to Benro telling them what I was looking for and they recommended their Induro line. (had I known that this was their brand I would have bought it right from the start)

I couldn't be happier. I needed something that was well built and tall enough to use on uneven ground. This is a great general purpose tripod and I expect it will be in my 'bag' for many years. It won't replace the Benro I use for hiking and travel but it will get plenty of use.

Everything is well built and quality. The legs are operate smoothly and easily. What can you say about a tripod, it either works or it doesn't and this one Works.

Works better than expected. Perfect for my active photo trips. The twist locks operate easily with gloves in cold weather. I am around 6' tall and this tripod fully extended stands way above my head if needed. I was worried about the weight of this while on my long hikes, but it's really packable. Worth every penny spent on this tripod.

Comments about Induro 8X CT-314 Carbon Fiber Tripod:

Really light weight and easy to work with. I went with the 314 instead of the 214 to get the additional height.

Comments about Induro 8X CT-314 Carbon Fiber Tripod:

Bought the CT314, my first carbon fiber tripod, for it's height without extending the center column, which I will replace with the shorter version in order to shoot low. That would have been a nice option at purchase. It's a bit bulkier than I expected, but lighter than I expected, also. It sets up quickly, and the twist locks seem secure. I'm very pleased with my purchase. Minus one star as I haven't had it long enough to check it's durability.

Comments about Induro 8X CT-314 Carbon Fiber Tripod:

This tripod is built like a tank. I ordered both the CT314 and CT214 as I was undecided in which would better fit my needs. After much consideration, the bulkier size of the 314 meant it had to go back to B&H. I just didn't need the additional size for my set-up. It is not substantially longer when folded than the 214 but significantly larger when extended.

Comments about Induro 8X CT-314 Carbon Fiber Tripod:

This was recommended by B&H for my purposes and I am very happy with the quality and performance. I shoot with a Canon 7D and Sigma 150-500 lens and this tripod provides the stability and ease of handling I need. It is top shelf quality and rock solid. Coupled with a Sirui K-20-X ball head to round out the system, I could not be more satisfied.
