I bought this tripod over a year ago and have put it through it's paces. I am happy to say that I still view it as a very good purchase.

After tons of research and in store testing, I found this tripod to be the best option. Of course carbon fiber would be better, as would a top brand like Gitzo, but the cost for those was prohibitive.

For the money, the weight capacity of this model was hard to beat. I also like the design of the center column locking mechanism. I can raise it to any height and lock it, and it remains solid. The independantly adjustable legs do everything I need. For me, the articulating center column of some tripods it a poor trade off. It might give you more options, but it is a weaker design.

About the only negative I could mention is the size and weight of the tripod. It might not suit some for backpacking or long walks, but I have used it for both and consider it a worthwhile trade off. I want the stability, since I use a larger lens for bird and wildlife photography. As I said, I compared this to many other tripods and most others just seemed flimsy. I am happy with my purchase and feel confident recommending it to others.

Comments about Induro Alloy 8M AT213 Tripod:

I have been looking for a good tripod for awhile now. My old tripod was about 35 years old and was rickety.I narrowed my list to this unit and 3 others. Budget was tight and only 1 carbon fiber unit reached down to my budget and it looked flimsy and had mixed reviews. The other 2 weighed another half a pound or more. The Induro AT213 weighted about the same as my old tripod, has pads on all 3 legs, got consistent high reviews, comes with a good case and tools (including changable rubber feet and spiked feet), was the best priced unit, reversible center column, a bubble level, and a weight hook to further steady the tripod in wind. I have been using it now for about 2 weeks for [[@]]pictures and will start into some landscape and close-up photos as the spring progresses.

Comments about Induro Alloy 8M AT213 Tripod:

Pros: Easy to operate with gloves, sturdy, smart design (hook for weight, additional gear attachment point, etc)

Cons: Relatively small platform head, skeptical about the main hinge lock durability - time will tell.

        Overall: recommended alternative.

Comments about Induro Alloy 8M AT213 Tripod:

I was trying to decide between the Induro AT213, AT214, Manfrotto 055 xprob, and 190 xprob. I decided to get the Induro AT213 because it is lighter than all the others, and very, very sturdy. I was very impressed with it. The twist lock legs make it incredibly fast to set up. I have even put a Canon 500mm f/4 IS USM lens on it, and while it clearly was not designed for such a large lens, it handled it just fine. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase it again. While not the lightest tripod on the market, I believe it to be the best compromise between stability and weight.

Comments about Induro Alloy 8M AT213 Tripod:

I used the tripod with photography. I liked the foam grips on it, and except for one problem it was very solid. The problem was that one of the legs does not clamp down as securely as it should, so the leg moves when I use pressure from my hand on it. So far, the other two legs are solid and the weak one hasn't moved when using a camera.

Comments about Induro Alloy 8M AT213 Tripod:

Very well made, surprisingly light for a non carbon tripod. Use it with an Induro BHL2 ball head and an old Gitzo pan/tilt head depending on the need. Legs extend easily. 4 stars only as the center column tightening mechanism takes a little fighting to loosen/tighten, but I consider this a minor thing. Comes with a nice case.

Comments about Induro Alloy 8M AT213 Tripod:

I've owned this tripod for about two and a half years and use it on a regular basis. Before I this one I owned two different models from two of the "big" tridod manufacturers and both broke, got them fixed and sold them. The induro is built like a tank and is a pleasure to use, I love it.

Models with twist leg locks (for me) are the only way to go they are must faster to operate, seem to have a stronger hold and don't break when caught or bumped into something.

If you're on a limited budget and need a tripod this may be the best thing out there. I'm really happy I rolled the dice on this one.

I use this for video and photography with a Manfrotto 502HD Pro Video head. Very solid and secure setup, but a bit heavy for running around town. Largely use this combo for studio and stationary shots / documentation. Tripod sets up quickly and the added hook for sand is nice for use with larger cameras.

I had a set of competitor legs for a few years. I was never really happy with them. A friend of mine had a set of these and I loved them. You get a lot for your money. The case and tool kit are a nice added touch. Don't hesitate, but it now.

Comments about Induro Alloy 8M AT213 Tripod:

I am a 6'2" pro photographer. I honestly didn't use my old tripod very often because I skimped on it and the head was lousy, and it was too short. This tripod seriously fits the bill. Things I like about it.
                                    - twist locks. These are nice, half turn with one hand and down come the legs. They lock solidly.
                                    - finish. It has a really nice matted grey/black finish.
                                    - not "clinky" - the legs don't clink when extended like other legs. There is almost an air-cushioned breathing effect when lower these. Sounds nicer.
                                    - Well dampened leg joints. the legs don't flop around. The legs may be a bit stiff, but it is smooth to move them.
                                    - It is tall. I am 6'2" and it is at eye level for me with my photoclam pc-44ns head.
                                    - Included bag is super nice for a freeby.
                                    - feels pretty light
                                    - better than my manfroot 190xb by far.
                                    - they upgraded my warranty to ten years online. sweet.

                                    Things I don't like.
                                    - it is not carbon fiber. duh
                                    - the bag barely fits my ballhead, the plate has to be turned sideways, but it does fit, so not actually a negative.
                                    - not compact. Deal with it. or get the AT214.

Overall I'd say this about as good as you can get for an all around sturdy tripod. If you are value-based shopper like me who doesn't care about it being the best named brand, than this is for you.

Comments about Induro Alloy 8M AT213 Tripod:

When I purchased this tripod I did a lot of research and a lot of hands on experimenting in the store. I worked for a photography company that photographed high school seniors every year. Their tripod of choice was Manfrotto so I was thinking of purchasing that one. The Induro weighed less and cost less and offered as much. It also comes with it's own bag and adjusting tools. Legs are sideways adjustable for low level shooting I did not choose carbon because whats the point in getting a light weight tripod when I have to weigh it down in the wind

After struggling with a crummy tripod that failed to hold my d300 steady I finally decided to upgrade. I wanted to buy a tripod that would last me many years and I wouldn't have to upgrade when I upgrade my gear down the line. This one seems to be just the ticket. This tripod is a great balance between overall weight, price and weight it can hold. the build quality seems great and it is made of of quality materials. I got this on discount with the teacher/student discount and the price CANNOT be beat. It is relatively compact(not the smallest or lightest but not bad either). It holds my d300 with 18-200 lens AND battery grip rock solid and is tall enough to be comfortable for me (I am 6'1"). It looks pro and everything feels like quality. The ONLY reason I didn't give this a 5 star rating is that the first one I bought had a screw on the leg stripped pretty badly. I probably would never need that screw but if I ever had to adjust leg tension being stripped when new would cause problems. I brought the tripod back to B&H and they exchanged it no problem but the new one(which thank goodness I inspected in the store) had a faulty leg twist lock. The third time was a charm however and my new AT213 has been working great. It even comes with a really nice carrying case(with stretchy handle nonetheless) which at this price point is unexpected. I worry about the quality control from Induro seeing as it took 3 tries to get a perfect one, but now that I have one that isn't defective the build quality seems excellent.

Comments about Induro Alloy 8M AT213 Tripod:

I wanted a tripod that could support a lot of weight without weighing a ton. I also did not want to spend a fortune and of course, I didnt want to buy a tripod that would fail after a few months. After looking at all the usual suspects and finding that all the ones that fill my needs where all out of my price range I decided to look at other brands. I saw that a wildlife photographer I was watching on you-tube used and endorsed Induro, so I decided to give the AT213 (it weighs less then a pound more then its carbon fiber equivelent but cost a lot less) a try. After a couple of months of use, I am very happy with the AT213. It is a very stable and well built tripod. If you are in the market for the best bang for your buck tripod take a look at Induro, you wont regret it!!
