I bought this tripod over a year ago and have put it through it's paces. I am happy to say that I still view it as a very good purchase.

After tons of research and in store testing, I found this tripod to be the best option. Of course carbon fiber would be better, as would a top brand like Gitzo, but the cost for those was prohibitive.

For the money, the weight capacity of this model was hard to beat. I also like the design of the center column locking mechanism. I can raise it to any height and lock it, and it remains solid. The independantly adjustable legs do everything I need. For me, the articulating center column of some tripods it a poor trade off. It might give you more options, but it is a weaker design.

About the only negative I could mention is the size and weight of the tripod. It might not suit some for backpacking or long walks, but I have used it for both and consider it a worthwhile trade off. I want the stability, since I use a larger lens for bird and wildlife photography. As I said, I compared this to many other tripods and most others just seemed flimsy. I am happy with my purchase and feel confident recommending it to others.

Review 1 Feb 21, 2016:

I bought this one as I lost my earlier tripod at a trip. I have a DSLR and use Tamron 150-600 lens for wild photography. This was my first experience with B&H as my friends strongly recommended me to use this site.

The pricing, check-out, packing and shipping was actually excellent. I had my neighbor pick-it up for me as I was out of town for a week. I opened the box, it looked great, installed the Induro ball-head and took it with me to photograph bald eagles the next morning. It was a perfect day with handful of eagles hunting by the lake. I took my tripod, mounted my Nikon w/ the Tamron lens. And right when I was in a best position to take pictures and tracking the birds, it started to wobble every time I would move it. It was a total disappointment to find that the center piece was lose! I tightened, looked at everything. My 2 friends have the exact same tripod, they found that the central column locking was dysfunctional (probably something like an O-ring is missing). Even after tightening it appropriately, I easily slides down because it doesn't get locked, couldn't raise it and was wobbling. It was unfix-able when the birds were so close and it is unfix-able even now. It's like taking a car for ride to find that it's doesn't stay on the road.

I plan to call B&H and see how they plan to deal with this. I lost my valuable time, opportunities and it lead to lots of frustration. I had to sit down in Minnesota winter to try and support my lenses while everyone else were using 'functional' tripods. Of course, I didn't get good pictures, but a frozen butt!

Does anyone at B&H or Induro ever verify what they are shipping?

Comments about Induro 8M AT-213 Aluminum Tripod:

Rock solid performance.
Makes "Pro" tripods sold by the big box stores seem like toys. With the right head this beast feels like it will last for years and years. Personally using a Manfrotto MH054MO-Q6 ball head that I find also way above par, shame they discontinued it.
All in all a great purchase I look forward to keeping my gear safe and where I put it.

Comments about Induro 8M AT-213 Aluminum Tripod:

Five stars based on the fact that it does what it's supposed to do. This is a nice tripod bridging the gap between heavy duty and light duty. It works well above the rated capacity and yet light enough to carry around. Is it a tripod to pack in for a long hike, probably not but still light (weight) enough to tote on a day hike. I use a Sirui ball head rated at 44lbs and have mounted my D5 with Nikon 80-400mmG without a problem. The tripod has a hook which adds to the stability if needed. The twist leg locks are very convenient and hold extremely well. Extending/collapsing at night is very user friendly. I have the Carbon Fibre version of this tripod and find they aren't that different in weight and function. The foam hand warmers are a nice touch on cold nights. Having them on all legs is also one of things you don't need but appreciate in the middle of the night. The upper leg section is approx 1.25" diam, middle is 1", and bottom is .75" giving it a solid feel. If you can only buy one tripod to do it all and want something to handle mirrorless to pro body dslr this is a great piece of kit. Choose the head of your choice and go to work. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Comments about Induro 8M AT-213 Aluminum Tripod:

The main reason for buying this product is for weight reduction. My current tripod and head weigh 12.75 pounds and the AT-213 with a MVH 500AH come in at 6.75 pounds. That's 6 pounds less that I have to move around and on an all day shoot it makes a big difference. I like the 3 position leg spread although I rarely use it past the first stop and the three section legs have a bit of flex at the bottom when extended completely. The leg twist stops are OK and the center column gives you some extra cmera height if needed. Over all it's a good value and keeping in mind why I bought it, I give it a 4 star rating.

                    Excellent price to performance

                    from Milwaukee

Comments about Induro 8M AT-213 Aluminum Tripod:

The AT-213 Induro tripod is an excellent choice for high-quality, low cost, and reliability.

This is my first professional tripod and it does a lot to build my confidence. It isn't the lightest nor the most compact, so it's not something you can easily carry every where. But between the wide range of costs, and price to performance, I am very pleased with the compromises I made to get a tripod that I feel both comfortable and confident taking photos with.

I wanted to maximize both stability and comfort, so I sacrificed the weight and size. At 5'10, it gets harder to find a sturdy tripod that you can use at eye level without leaning. With a Nikon D3200 on a separately purchased short column, this works perfectly. I know that it might be tricky on longer hikes but my primary usage and habits will allow me to keep it near me in my car.

Regarding the quality, I appreciate the strength of the legs, the feel of the extension knobs, the smoothness of the angle locks, and the overall vibration control. I shied away from the AT-214 to minimize vibration as much as possible using an aluminum tripod. If I had the money, I might have gotten something like that in Carbon Fiber. I am also completely fine with removing the feet for spikes, as I seldom use the spikes.

I paired it with the awesome K-20 Ballhead from Sirui.

One learning experience I had is that articulating arms in tripods are way overrated. The extension of them causes huge vibrations with the slightest taps. They are heavier too. There are few angles that really benefit by having the extra positions. And in my opinion, I might miss a fraction of shooting opportunities without it. Vanguard has probably the best product in this category, but they made the incredibly irritating decision of moving production to Myanmar where the government is corrupt and oppresses millions of its citizens.

In short, I'm completely satisfied with this investment and would only pay more for a Carbon Fiber tripod.

Comments about Induro 8M AT-213 Aluminum Tripod:

I bought this tripod to replace another tripod for a few reasons:
                      1. Height. I am 5'11'' tall. This tripod finally allows me to look through the viewfinder without bending and extending the center column.
                      2. Load. Recently I bought a super lens (Canon 500mm F4). This 22lb load capacity is perfect.

I have used this tripod a few times since I bought it a few weeks ago. So far, I like it. The tripod is very sturdy with the super lens. I can easily shoot at my eye level. I also like the foam grips on all three legs. (My previous one has it on only two legs.)

                      Two things worth mentioning:

It actually weighs 4.4 lb instead of 4.1 lb based on the spec tag with the product. I did not measure it. If you care very much about the weight, please be aware. In fact, I did not consider AT-214 at all just because I thought 214 was heavier (214 is marked as 4.4 lb). Anyway, I do not regret that much since I prefer 3-section legs than 4-section ones. But people pay hundreds of dollars more to go with Carbon Fiber just trying to save fractions of a pound. So worth mentioning.

Another small thing I noticed is that when I twist the lock with one hand, and the other hand is holding on the foam, the foam tends to turn/twist. It gives me the impression the foam is not firmly attached to the leg. I just have to remember to hold on the bare leg when doing the twist so I will not completely loose the foam.

Overall, I like it. It is a great tripod without costing you a lot.

As an advanced amateur, it was time to look for a new tripod. I had good luck with my Induro monopod, so I figured I'd stay with the same brand. I decided to go aluminum, because the difference in weight compared to the CF versions, was not that big a deal for the $$.

The unit is light enough, but very sturdy. No problem adjusting the height, and the bubble level is a great addition, as my other tripod did not have this feature. The weather has been cold, so the padded grip area is a nice touch

so far, I have not found anything I do not like about this tripod.

Very nice tripod that includes a useable tripod bag and tools in a small case. All nicer than I anticipated.

Comments about Induro 8M AT-213 Aluminum Tripod:

I've always been a fan of Induro tripods. I have the big 413 which I use with my medium and large format cameras. Because of that I find this tripod very light. This one is the perfect high when extended, maybe a little high, but that's better than too low. Is the perfect tripod for my Sony A7 and I paired it with a Sirui K-20X ballhead. I shoot a lot in creeks and the beach so the tripod always gets wet, it always traps some water inside the legs and I always have to drain it, hence the four stars. All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase.

This tripod (with a Velbon heavy ball head) is strong enough for a 4x5 studio camera. I carry it around the city and it is light enough for a few hours of wandering. You only need to deploy one section if you are using a 90 degree viewfinder.

The ease of use is fantastic. Much easier than my old tripod. I no longer have to bend down, I can stand up straight to use the camera. The stability is more than expected.

Comments about Induro 8M AT-213 Aluminum Tripod:

Very solid construction. I would agree with the other reviews in that the legs dont slide out easily, they need a little help. The legs + ballhead is very tall, a bit too tall for me really. I am 5'10" and if I fully extend the legs (center column not raised) it is difficult to see the top of the camera. Not really a problem though, I just lower the bottom section. The extra height may come in handy. I would buy again.

Comments about Induro 8M AT-213 Aluminum Tripod:

My husband bought an Induro tripod for travel, and I was so impressed by the quality and attention to detail that I wanted one for my everyday use. The height is perfect, as I felt that on my other tripods, I would have to go to the center column frequently - yet it still breaks down into a manageable size. Weighs less and is less bulky than the Manfrottos. Also has an arca-swiss lock so that I can use an L-bracket.

My only complaint is that the legs feel a little stiff extending them, and require me to pull them out. I think this will probably ease with use.

                                              Overall - recommend!
