Was looking for a workhorse bag that fit me and my equipment comfortably. Tried shoulder bags but they left me listing to one side of the other. Tried Tamrac sling, but it was uncomfortable, not ergonomically well designed and did not allow for all my equipment.
After much searching, settled on this lowepro. Was able to fit my 5d MarkII with a battery grip, 70-2002.8L, 24-702.8L, 17-404.0L, all with lens hoods. Also, 100 2.8 macro and a 2x teleconverter in the main compartment. In the large and roomy top space, able to put 580 exII and mrII macro flash as well as filters an itouch and various other little accessories. The tripod holder held my manfrotto securely, and the built in rain cover worked great while hiking through the Costa Rican rain forest. When all straps secured and snug, the weight of the bag, over 26 pounds, was superbly distributed and left me exhausted from the day, but not strained from poorly distributed heavily weighted camera bag.
Ideally, I wish the bag itself was waterproof or at least the zipper seals, and the tripod strap needs to be secured to the bag itself. When not in use and if you forget to clip it closed, it can fall off. But only minor complaints considering how well this bag performed.

This bag has a small time look and feel, that can deliver big time storage in the field.

Well, this bag was supposed to be my save all; its almost there but not quite. I bought this bag to replace a Medium Tenba ShootOut bag I owned for less than a hour. After getting the Tenba bag, I gave it to a colleague because it was just too small for the kit I wanted to carry in a sling bag. This bag does support the 70-200 f/2.8 lens mounted on a D3, and up to a few other prime lenses depending on their sizes. This is my street shooter sling bag for going out into the city or short hikes in the woods. I never intended to carry my whole kit with it. So this is what I put in there: D3 (with RRS L Bracket), 24-70 f/2.8, 135 f/2, 50 f/1.4, 70-180 f/4 macro, SB-800 flash, Lens Cleaner Air Bulb, Flash Cord, Remote Shutter Release, Sanho HyperDrive, Black Rapid Double Harness, Better Beamer Flash Extender, Joby GorillaPod, Extra CF Cards, Extra Batteries, Cell Phone and Pens. So you see, this bag fits quite a bit very well and is not overly large. CONS: Needs rubber pads on botom to protect material. The shoulder belt isn't wide enough. The shoulder strap is in the wrong place, it is centered in the middle of the bag so it is awkward when slung across the body. The shoulder strap needs to be wider and with more padding. The quick release buckle for the shoulder strap doesn't seem that secure for all the gear I have loaded, thus I tie the lose end to the other side to make it a permanent fixture at a fixed length. Front pocket is only good for buisness cards and pens. The tripod holder will only take a small to medium light weight tripod. The zippers are loud, so if you plan on using this for weddings, think again. The built in micro fiber cloth isn't removeable as it is stitched in; nice to have as a last resort though. You have to lie the bag down flat on a large surface if you want to safely pull out your other lenses; I wouldn't recommend changing lenses while this is slung over your body, you will probably drop something if you do. However, it is great for reaching in and grabbing your camera body and the lens that is mounted on it; this is where it excells for full size pro DSLRs. Only time will tell if I will trully like this bag. Just the few times I have toted it, I know that it will become uncomfortable for any prolonged wearing (i.e. more than 2 hours).

Lighter Backpack works well

By Photogcam

Comments about Lowepro SlingShot 302 AW Camera Bag:

I bought this sling pack for use a s a lighter pack when I didn't want to use my large pack. It holds a pro camera with a 70-200 mm F/2.8 lens attached plus room for other lenses and a flash.
So far it has met all of my expectations.

I can also use it when going really light with my Panasonic GX-8 with a 100-400mm lens attached. In fact I can fit my entire Micro 4/3s kit into this bag. A great option when traveling light.

Comments about Lowepro SlingShot 302 AW Camera Bag:

This bag is the perfect size for pro gear. D810 with baterry grip and 70-200 lens fits perfectly in it. There is enough room in it for extra lens and gear as well. The top compartment can store cables cleaning stuff and my flash can fit in that as well. The only complaint I have is that I hope the zippers last. They feel a little cheap unlike the rest of the bag.

I have used Lowpro bags for 18 years now. I still have them and there still in great shape. I bought the 302 Aw because of the sling feature. I like being able to slide my bag from back to front and retrieve my camera without taking my bag off. This bag also holds a lot of gear. Very happy with it.

Comments about Lowepro SlingShot 302 AW Camera Bag:

This bag has lots of compartments for lenses and your DSLR camera. Also included is a spot for a lens cleaning cloth and a seperate area for extra SD cards. That was a feature I hadn't considered but it was good that the manufacturers thought about it.

The compartment at the top of the bag is very good for personal items and housing additional equipment like a GoPro and it's various accessories. I also like the front pocket, which allows for writing utensils and holding the rain hood.

My issue thus far is the size. It is much larger than the description indicates and is very bulky. At this point, I haven't been on a shoot that requires a lot of equipment. When I do go on that type of photo shoot, I am concerned this bag may be difficult to use. The compartment for easy access to your camera doesn't seem easy--perhaps it will change after the bag is more broken in.

The shoulder harness seems a bit awkward but hopefully I'll get used to it.

Comments about Lowepro SlingShot 302 AW Camera Bag:

I had a smaller bag that was only able to carry 2 lenses at a time so I bought this bag for my longer trips. I was able to pack my canon 6d with 24-105 along with 4 other lenses. The bag also has enough room to make it a convenient carry-on while traveling by plane. The side sliding opening is really great for on the go lens changes.

Comments about Lowepro SlingShot 302 AW Camera Bag:

I really like this bag. When someone decided that they needed my gear worse than I did, I got a different bag, but I soon found myself coming back to this one. This holds my camera (Nikon D7200), plus a couple of lenses, filters that I use from time to time and some of the things I use like a loop and a right angle viewer. The front compartment works great for things like holding your notebook and pens and pencils (for your photographers journal) and the top compartment works great for carrying your personal items. Then I don't have to carry the gear I don't plan on using for that day.

I use this product for many different reasons. I take it with me when I go on vacations and weekend get a ways as well as any event that I shoot where I need to minimize the amount of equipment I need to take. It's a spacious bag that can accommodate a camera body, several lenses, and a flash. Storage compartment on top is great to keep any extra equipment. Great to take on flights as it fits in the overhead cargo bin. The product is very durable and comfortable to wear.

Also plenty of room in the upper compartment to carry miscellaneous stuff such as extra batteries, cards, and shutter releases. The side strap to attach a tripod is a nice touch, but the buckle strap has fallen out on more than one occasion, so it is probably only a matter of time before I lose it. Still, I am not too worried about that as it can be easily replaced with another buckle or velcro strap.

A sigma 50mm art, Sigma 30mm and 17-70mm along with flash, flash trigger kit and cleaning accessories all while having a bag that handles and distributes the weight evenly. One of several Lowepro bags i have and I'm very satisfied with them all.

Moved up from the 102AW. I'll end up using both. For an out of state trip I loaded the 302 with my Nikon w/55-300, four additional lenses, one SB-600, two SB-800s. Front pocket is great for extra camera batteries. Still had plenty of room for two chargers, a pack of 8 Lithium Batteries, my hard sunglass case, mini-flashlight, lens pen, sunscreen and a cleaning cloth. Looking for other things to put in as I still had space. Only issue is what to do with all the extra strap on the harness.

Comments about Lowepro SlingShot 302 AW Camera Bag:

As a press photographer, my day is "run and gun." I got the Lowepro Slingshot 302 to replace a worn out Tamrac bag. I wanted the single strap sling design, because I usually jerk the bag off the floor and run to the car. This sling is only designed for a cross-chest carry.. and it just won't hang right for a single shoulder carry. When you ust it as the video describes... cross chest over the right shoulder... It does carry ok. BUT if you pull it around under the left arm and try to access the main compartment (again as described in the video) it lets everything inside fall out! Forget about switching lenses without taking it off and opening it on the ground. This case is not good for high speed, high stress situations.

Comments about Lowepro SlingShot 302 AW Camera Bag:

I have used a larger bag for a couple of years.
This bag holds my immediate needs and protects the contents well.

I am very satisfied with the bag.

Comments about Lowepro SlingShot 302 AW Camera Bag:

The LowePro 302AW SlingShot bag holds everything I need for a photo shoot that might cover several days, e.g., in a National Park. I have my camera, a small tripod, a large zoom lens, batteries, re-charger, and flash unit in there. There is still lots of room for other photo accessories and still room for personal items like bug spray, extra items of clothing, or hygiene on the trail.

The bag does indeed swing around quickly so you can grab your camera in a hurry.

I don't care for the waist straps. I wish they were removable. Doubtful I will ever snap the waist straps around my waist. But time might show me that I need them. We'll see.

Comments about Lowepro SlingShot 302 AW Camera Bag:

This camera bag is great for carrying all my camera gear. I love the one strap with the quick access to my camera. It is perfect for outdoor photography and when you are going hiking.
I don't like that it is not waterproof, and there was no waterproof cover to cover it with. I was under the impression that there would be a waterproof cover included. Also, it is pretty heavy with all my camera gear, but that is to be expected considering how big it is.
It does not fit my heavy duty tripod in the tripod holder on the side. I think that it must be made for light tripods only.
