I'm a studio owner (30 years) teacher at PortraNet (8 years).

Other reviews said (expensive?) have you priced the 1000+ buck wifi from canon? These things are CHEAP and awesome. I shoot in my studio all day and all the images are transferred to my computer. (even deleted from the card after transfer (optionally) I don't ever have to copy my files. They're transferred all day. The reason Im' ordering a 2nd one now is to have one in the studios (outdoor camera) SUPPORT is great, when ever I had a problem they solved it by software update! (right away) and when we ask for features they come! (which is why they now have RAW support, movie transfer support and deletion of files after transfer. AMAZING for the money!
These newer X2 also transfer files in 1/2 the time of my previous eye-fi pro (4gb cards).

1st off, you have to set up an account with the eye-fi company to use the card. That's kinda annoying, but when you add the fact that the software kept [*]ing out and telling that I didn't have an account (even after getting confirmation email from the company) it's darn right dumb. Go to their forums and you will see how there are multitudes of people have trouble getting their card set up. It took me 5 hours to get it working. After I got i got it working, it has been useful. But with my camera being 18megapixel, the transfer from the camera to the computer (iPad in my case) is slow. Too slow for anything other than a shot a time portrait type work. Forget burst mode shooting, it lags too muchOverall, I kept it, but it should have cost half as much, and the company needs to get it's head out of it's behind and make it so that you can just set up the card/software without making an account, especially if their system is jacked up.

Comments about Eye-Fi 8GB SDHC Memory Card Pro X2 Wireless Class 6:

For those of us with cameras that do not have Wi-Fi functionality baked in, the Eye-Fi cards are a huge, yet very reasonable, upgrade. I use an Eye-Fi card every day to transfer DSLR photos and video to my smartphone where I have an assortment of apps to work with them. The new companion iOS software is also now very dependable. The cards seem to have a higher failure rate than conventional SD cards, so I carry a spare.

Comments about Eye-Fi 8GB SDHC Memory Card Pro X2 Wireless Class 6:

I was introduce to this card by a colleague who showed my how the card easily transferred pictures from his DSLR to his iPad in a matter of seconds using the EyeFi App from the app store. There is a neat option to upload pics simultaneously to a Facebook account and EyeFi server as well. I love this card as it allowed me to transfer pictures from my camera to my iphone and instantly send pictures to friends and family while not having access to a computer.

Update Canon to latest firmware, PC software setup with iPad was a bit confusing. Just treat the eye-fi as another wifi network or direct picture transfer (go to network detect on iPad). Transfer jpg will take some time for multi files, not too slow. I'm happy with the ease and convenient. iPad need better photo editor app.

Comments about Eye-Fi 8GB SDHC Memory Card Pro X2 Wireless Class 6:

I bought this for use with my old Canon S3 IS and Canon T1i, and my iPad mini and iPhone 4S. My main use was to be able to take and share the type of photos that my iPhone camera couldn't do well (macro or telephoto).

For the most part, it works pretty good. It can be a little tricky (and frustrating) if you're trying to use it while connected to a known WiFi AP. It may take you numerous attempts to force the connection to the Eye-Fi card. You shouldn't have this problem if you're not near a known AP since the only connection it will know is the Eye-Fi card. Once connected, the photos transfer fairly quickly, all things considered.

I found the software to be a little confusing.

Comments about Eye-Fi 8GB SDHC Memory Card Pro X2 Wireless Class 6:

Purchased this card a week ago because it was to geo-tag photos for me of my Canon 40D. This would have been a perfect solution for my wildlife photos that tend to get mixed and unidentifiable as to exact location. The Card was easy to install it comes with a USB adaptor and built in software. The on-line help was very explicit and very, very prompt in helping resolve some problems (still resolving geo-tag). The card will transmit photos to a wi-fi system as long as the camera is powered on. This can burn batteries since the tranmission can be slow. You can wait till you get home when battery power in the field is not a problem and turn on camera. Be aware that when to take pix if there is not a wi-fi signal available (locked or unlocked) it will not geo tag photos. I am having problems getting geo-tags in my local area even with unlocked hot spots It seems that some wi-fi spots are not recognized by their system. The Eye-Wi support is very good and working on this problem.Since it is only a week, the jury is still out.The photos can transmit to an available Ipad or Iphone without a wi-fi signal by the card's built in Direct Mode network. It will not transmit to your home computer until the camera is powered on and there is an unlocked wi-fi signal available. You can switch to have the computer, Iphone or Ipad receive the photo in the field if the device is with you.I have not yet used 8G of pix yet so I cannot comment on the feature that lets the card erase transmitted photos after a set percentage of card is used and photos are transmitted. In effect you will have an endless card.
I have used this card in a point and shoot and in a 40D with an SD to CF adapter and while B&H and Eye-Fi do not endorse this, it works. I hope to resolve the geo-tag issue which is important since having the remote wireless transfer of image alone is not important to me. Note: receiving devise needs large capacity for multi photo storage.Pricey gimmick just to download photos

I had to do a chat with Eye-Fi customer service - awesome! The product works well. Only thing is, it should be a Class 10, as this type of card is used with very high end, fast speed cameras. Sorry if I didn't know there is a faster one available, but it could be slowing down my shot speed.

Comments about Eye-Fi 8GB SDHC Memory Card Pro X2 Wireless Class 6:

The review by Tristan S. from Houston was in error, the Eye_Fi experience can be shared by more than one device. I have my Eye-Fi in my Canon G-11. I have the Eye-Fi card automatically upload to my smartphone where I have the Eye-Fi android app. The app is programmed to send all photos I take from my smart phone plus the photos and videos I receive from my Eye-Fi card, to my home computer when I get home, plus my smartphone uploads all my photos to my Google Picassa3 account, including the ones I take in the smartphone plus the ones received from the eye-fi card.

From Picassa3, I can do almost anything with the photos, including geo-tagging. So you do not really need to have the more expensive cards, the baseline Eye_Fi Connect Card is great with the way I can channel my photos, add geo-tagging, have the google and social media experiences controlled by me in Picassa, and the short wait time and frets about this and that on reviews are plain phooey. Buy the card, you will love it!

Allows me to email high quality images from my iPod touch minutes after they were taken. There is a bit of a learning curve understanding how to get the the app to grab the card, but it it works consistently once you get the hang of it. The camera in the 5th gen touch is pretty lame, so the ability to use my Lumix TZ5 or my Cannon G12 for quick uploads is a huge image quality improvement. I don't need the ability to send photos to sharing sites but I tried it and it works well. I read several bad reviews siting slow down loads but my experience even with RAW images has been quite impressive. Bottom line, it works for my purposes and I like it!

I love the product and it works great. I use it in the field to transfer Jpeg files from the camera to my tablet. Then I can check focus on a larger screen and get a better feel for how the final image will look. I set my Camera to record RAW files o my 32 gb card and the Eye-Fi card gets the small Jpeg, then I use Snapseed to do some quick editing. The PC software needs some tweaks, but I never move the files to the Eye-Fi site.

I haven't test the distance it will transmit

If you want to impress your family and friends, you should get this. I am using this card with my Canon 5D Mark III and iPad with retina display. The photos download immediately onto the iPad as I take pictures. There is nothing more wonderful than seeing and sharing the photos on the iPad almost simultaneously as pictures are taken. I had some issues with the instructions for setting up the card They were not very clear and I had to repeat the steps several times before I got the card to transmit from the camera to the iPad. But once I got the card to work, it's been performing with no problems.

My husband received this for a Christmas gift and has been astounded by the capabilities of this Eye-Fi card. The card holds thousands of pictures and automatically uploads them to our laptop as soon as we enter the house. We have used the card for pictures and for videos as well and both uses have turned out well. This is a fantastic purchase and makes transferring photos a ton easier!

Was easy to set up, works great over home internet. Struggling with remote function (away from home network) synch to iPad, but I'm sure it is a user issue :)

Comments about Eye-Fi 8GB SDHC Memory Card Pro X2 Wireless Class 6:

True story: I was helping with a photo event and realized that there were other photogs present, and we all had compact printers to print out 4x6 photos. While they had to switch discs every 10 shots, to keep the printing going, I never moved. Simplest photo event ever. I had my laptop setup across the room, transmitted the photos, and had my assistant constantly print. We were done a full hour before the others could finish all of their prints. I'm hooked.

But why 4 stars? Well, it's the setup, which I'll get to. But first, this is a memory card like all others; it performs well, I've had no data issues with it, and the wireless transmission is a dream. Add to that the ability to send via Wi-Fi as advertised, or the card's Direct Mode, and you have a all-around solution to having to look for a cable or trust using the card reader on a computer. Paired with the right software, and it's no different than tethered shooting (photos upload on the spot, your assistant edits them, and you can print on the spot; from camera to printer in 2 minutes or less).

This model can transmit RAW files and JPG, as well as video. Haven't tested the video yet, but I suspect you'll want plenty of time for the upload to occur. The enclosed software can also take those same photos and auto-upload to a photo sharing site like Picasa or even Facebook.

And that is done in the setup, which can be a little confusing at first. For one, you can only have the card transmit to one device, AND you must manually have the card change to different devices. So instead of the perfect solution where if I'm at home, upload to computer and if I'm out and about, upload to laptop or tablet, I have to do that myself with the special card reader. Because of that, I've left it only to my laptop, as that'll be the primary device. Now, if you have multiple cameras, you can switch out the card to another camera, but it'll still transmit to the same device. Therefore, if you have two cameras, you'll need two cards, and each card to transmit to each device (from what I can tell). But the card itself is awesome, and highly recommend to anyone that enjoys tethered shooting.
