As a full time professional photographer this ball head is totally great it supports my Nikon camera and a 70 to 200 zoom with no problems you can go from landscape to protrait so darn fast and it grips well. I have it on a carbon tripod and now I can take great time exposures using cable release and this thing is totally steady for natural light weddings I never have liked those other brackets because they bounce so much when rotated. I know this is a special order from our good friends and they took care of me well. It is worth it. Go on manfrottos web and see the clip. I am a left handed person this bayby will convert. for those doing copy work like my self it tilts down to the floor in a snap. This has replaced my old joy stick model and the flipflop bracket.

That's now 2 years that I'm using the Manfrotto Joystick head. This is my first ball head. I mainly do landscape photography and fine art reproductions and it is nearly impossible to make finite adjustments while framing my subject. When using my D800 mounted with a 80-200 mm 2.8 it just can't hold it even with the friction control at his maximum. It's huge, takes a lot of place (in your car, in your armoire, on your back) and is quite heavy. This joystick also gets in the way while shooting weird angles near the ground. Positive points : it quickly unlocks and moves, you don't have to adjust three knobs to move your camera. It's solid and well build. Good for small DSLR's without heavy lenses or accessories, if you are looking for an easy and quick use and if you don't care so much about precise placements for your camera. I couldn't offer me another head till now, but I must say that I'm now happy to be able to change for another one.

Comments about Manfrotto 327RC2 Joystick Head:

I had the former model that they called a pistol grip- glad they changed the name. After having it 11 years and wore it our I got this one. Very smooth - holds its place and compact.

Comments about Manfrotto 327RC2 Joystick Head:

I have only just started to use this mount, but immediately noticed that it's somewhat difficult to get into position, especially with the camera button on the right hand side. It cold be user-error, but I had to put the mount on backwards in order to use my left hand to squeeze the joystick and track objects.

At the moment, I have it attached to my monopod and it DOES help increase stability in keeping the whole setup still. Jury is still out as to whether this will become my favourite piece of equipment- I simply haven't used it enough. However, if you don't have a strong grip (i.e., need help of a burly friend to open the can of pickles) then this is NOT for you.

Comments about Manfrotto 327RC2 Joystick Head:

No he tenido mejor cabezal para mi mas froto que este modelo, fuimos de viaje y fue excelente el manejo del joystick head, fácil de acomodar y gran agarre, muy versátil manejo y olvídate de los ajustes finos que hacen perder una buena Fotografia.

Te recomiendo nunca olvides este joystick head ya mas para tus viajes.

Comments about Manfrotto 327RC2 Joystick Head:

Was super easy to install, works as I thought it would! It takes a little getting used to going from tilting up and down and then turning the camera to shoot vertically, one has to be done before the other, it is just the way the ball works with the housing around the ball. Once you understand how it works it is super easy to get it to move how you want it to. I haven't noticed a WHOLE lot of difference with the friction adjuster, but it has a good amount of friction to begin with. There is a slight drop after you get the camera where you want it to be focused on. It usually drops exactly the same amount (it is only a tiny drop, just enough for the friction to catch) each time, so when I position the camera I always just position it a fraction bit higher than I want it and it falls into place snugly.

Comments about Manfrotto 327RC2 Joystick Head:

After a macro photography shoot, I became extremely frustrated with my Manfrotto ballhead. I would adjust it, and it was slip -- not once, but every single time! Not a good thing when you're shooting with a macro lens. I read some good things about the Manfrotto Joystick, and it sounded perfect. And it is! I love the ease of adjusting the joystick, positioning it and never having to re-adjust it. Just let go, and it does not move one bit! It's definitely much easier to use and much more accurate than my last ballhead. So far, I have not come across anything "not so great" about this product. I would definitely recommend the Manfrotto Joystick head.

          Fantastic Joystick

          By Bud man

          from New Smyrna Beach, Fl

Comments about Manfrotto 327RC2 Joystick Head:

I have used ball heads for years but never really cared for having to reach up and grab the camera just to make small adjustments. Loosening the tightening screw on the ball head has resulted in pinched fingers more times than I care to remember. When I use heavy lenses, I need more control and this joystick provides that control. The operation is smooth and easy, small changes, which are critical in macro and desirable in all photography, can be achieved quickly and accurately. I have only used this head to shoot landscapes and macro so I can not speak as to it's ability with telephoto lenses. I am sure it can handle the rated weight. I have experienced no creep when using my Canon 5D Mark III complete with battery pack , a 180 macro lens and macro flash. I love the ability to quickly switch to portrait and back to landscape mode. The head has a bit of weight, but I chose the beefier model to avoid overloading the lighter duty version. Sometimes there is a trade off, weight vs performance and trying to get by with an overloaded device so you can save a few ounces of weight is ridiculous. This is a well made and fantastic functioning joystick.

Comments about Manfrotto 327RC2 Joystick Head:

A basic DSLR on this unit should be okay but a heavy lens or flash or any other accessory will be too heavy to be supported by this head. It is a huge and heavy head that looks to be overkill for a point and shoot. The design is okay but I wish it could lay flat or at least angle toward the tripod legs. I absolutely love not having to adjust three knobs to get the correct angle, but that is worthless if it won't hold the angle.

Very high quality construction. Very solid. Holds my Canon T3i with a 55-250 lens and flash with no movement. Very easy to use, although precise alignments take a bit of practice and a bit of wear-in on the ball mechinism. An extra bubble level for in the 90 degree position would be nice. Still, it is perfect for my needs and the quality construction is quite impressive.

I purchased this new tripod head to go with my new carbon fiber tripod. I had been using a 3-way head but felt it was very inefficient making all of those separate adjustments to get a shot. This lets me set the shot quickly and easily. The joystick grip is nice, although it does stick out a bit and I don't like that you have to flip it upside down to orient for left-handed operation. But those are minor gripes. The real test is that it grips the ball well and supports the weight of my camera and lens with no slippage.

I'm using this with a gripped Canon 5DmkII with lenses no bigger then the 24-105mm kit lens. This head handles fine and would support more weight than what I'm throwing at it. The build quality is strong and durable. Being a joystick ball head, it is very easy and quick to readjust position (something that always annoyed me about using support equipment). it mounted easily to my Induro tripod.

Excellent replacement for a L-bracket! Switch quickly from horizontal to vertical view with just one press/twist of the handle. Very satisfied with the purchase.
