Talk to the Military and its all about redundancy; its good to have spares. These "dog ears" fall off very easily, especially with the draw-string lanyard which holds the eye-piece cover on, so having a second one is a good idea. Keep it in a deflated zip-loc to keep schmutz off it.
If you are brave you can avoid the whole Z-Finder thing altogether and just get one of these and an older style Hasselblad Chimney-finder and attach the dog-ear onto it and you'll have Zeiss quality loupe for your HDSLR..
The Anti-fog Ive never -not used so I cant honestly tell you what its like in comparison to anything else, all I can say is that Ive never had a fog problem. Try to 'haw' (breathe) on it and it'll have no effect... so somethings working.
For twenny-bux (4xlattes, or 3xbeers, a haircut, a week of bus-fares etc), its not a lot of moolah to throw down for the best of its kind.

works...if you really need it

It does what it says it does. The only bad thing is that you can't clean the anti-fog lens the traditional way. You have to use a wet cloth.

For me the hassle isn't worth the rare advantage.

Comments about Zacuto Anti-Fog Protective Cover Upgrade Kit:

Replaces the original viewfinder cover because I lost the original on a train between Tokyo and Yokohama - and could not buy anywhere in Tokyo.

Seems to be a tighter fit than the original- so hopefully will not fall off.

fog has not been an issue before, but the boot fit seems superior to the previous.

Comments about Zacuto Anti-Fog Protective Cover Upgrade Kit:

Okay. It absolutely stops the problem of your z-finder fogging up while you use it. 5/5 stars for that. 0/5 stars for how easy it is in 'install'. It is a loose piece of plastic that goes in front of the glass, and then you put the new eyecup on. Sounds easy...it isn't. Took me about 20 minutes to finally get the eyecup on. Honestly, that is a small complaint. I just hope I don't have to replace the cover (it did come with extras!)

Comments about Zacuto Anti-Fog Protective Cover Upgrade Kit:

Makes my older z-finder much more usable in the hot humid weather in Houston.

The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is how much I had force I had to use to install the new cover. It almost doesn't fit, and made it a challenge to keep the insert clean.

Overall though this is a very worthwhile upgrade.

Welcome addition as I tend to press my face kind of hard to the viewfinder when filming handheld.

Was getting a lot of fog ups in my zfinder so I bought this upgrade. Relatively cheap and I haven't had a fog up yet. Much better than buying a whole new zfinder.

Fogging viewfinders are a real problem for me and cat[*] only does so much. This helps with the propensity of the z-finder to fog up very easily. It isn't perfect - It partially fogged up during extended use, but it remained quite usable.
