For the moment, all I can say about these consumer audio speakers is that they were recommended to me for use as Pro-audio studio reference monitors by a highly respected acoustician, Jeff Hedback, who in turn was informed of them by Prof. Floyd Toole. This recommendation was obviously not meant to suggest that these speakers would perform like $10,000+ monitors would, but rather that they would perform just as well if not better than the now-discontinued but legendary Yamaha NS-10 - and that is no small praise for stereo bookshelf speakers
I purchased them to be used in a mixing room which is still under construction so I still need to get to know them, but I did hook them up and listen to them in my bedroom and I like how they sound there - so I am confident that they will sound even better in the treated workspace. These are very inexpensive speakers that have a nice expensive sound to them.

These bookshelf speakers are well-constructed, and have a reasonable sound consistent with their low price. However, don't expect more than that. Also, I thought the tweeters were rougher sounding than those in previous Infinity models, and did not exactly match between the two speakers in the pair. So, OK for the price, but you might be able to spend a little more and get something better.

Comments about Infinity P163BK 6.5" 2-Way Passive Bookshelf Speaker (Black):

Use these in 2 dance studios; they replaced some high end name brand speakers that the dance teachers complained about. The originals had dual bass cones, so I was worried about these, but had some dire space constraints so tried them.

They've been fine, no complaints. For quality of music reproduction, they're actually better than the dual bass originals - much flatter response in the mid/high range, still adequate bass for dance, which is not a minor thing :-)

I use these speakers on my deck when I am outside and wanting to listen to music, from smooth jazz to rock or blues P163B are able to deliver the quality of sound you seek. It was a little bigger than I wanted initially but I can deal with a little large speaker. Bottom line is that I am happy with my purchase.

Comments about Infinity P163BK 6.5" 2-Way Passive Bookshelf Speaker (Black):

I have returned to separate components after years of making do with all-in-one systems, and I wanted speakers that impressed me as much as my old Genesis II speakers did in the 1980s. These Infinity bookshelf models truly fit the bill. I primarily listen to classical and jazz, but occasionally crank it up with some Newsboys, and the Infinity handles everything and remains bright, clean sounding, with nice separation. Definitely a great value for the money.

Comments about Infinity P163BK 6.5" 2-Way Passive Bookshelf Speaker (Black):

I give the P163 a five star rating not because they are the best sounding bookshelves I've ever heard. I give them five stars because, for $, you get a pair of speakers that sounds as good or better than other brands that cost much more. Solid treble and mids. Bass is a bit lacking but the response was much better after approx. 96 hours of break-in time. If you have a small budget, these would be an excellent choice.

Thought I ordered a pair of speakers for $139 but recived ONE speaker! I thought speakers were sold as a pair? Then at $278 for a pair is way too much for two-way speakers. For that money I would get the Bose 301 or JBL ES30. Before returning, I hooked it up, hardly any bass. I ordered the Sony SB300 for $122 a pair, they sound allot better, with more bass and 3 way.

I mounted these speakers on my wall about 6.5 feet from the floor. The speakers are only separated by 4 feet. I would say they sound great the imaging is phonomenal. The best thing I like about this product, is that the sound is so good for the price that it doesn't sound like its coming from a box. Probably one of the best speakers I've owned. I have had Polk's,genesis,Bose, I like these the best. B&H photo was great. I ordered them at 2:00 Wednesday, had them in the Boston area the next day
              Great Service Frank D
