I just bought this camera and I am enjoying it already. Its like a mini 7D. I love how the sensor handles noise. And all the advanced features you expect to be there are there with some extras. Now the XXD line gets an artistic twist with articulated screen, flash transmitter, on the go raw processing and fun filters all in a unique feel. And the price is great. I love that it takes SD cards because I have many and that is what I prefer. I can see this camera being a huge hit to students who are looking for a cross between video and still photos.

I also love that the top buttons have single functions rather than dual so you do not get confused of what your pressing and how to operated it quickly.

The only thing that so far bothers me about this camera is the lock button for the mode dial. I never use to accidently turn it, but now it makes it harder to change quickly. Everything else is great to me.

Well I've waited a year and a half to write this review so i can give my best honest opinion from my point of view- an amateur photographer who is highly enthusiastic and is wanting to turn it into a profession.

It is worthy to note I use(ed) my 60D for personal travel photos, minor studio work, some video, low light events (such as parties/clubs, weddings) and most of all sports (soccer, rugby, cricket, surfing, Cycling)

If you are looking to buy this camera, you are probably a beginner/now starting out. If you've owned any other DSLR before and you're thinking of "upgrading" to a 60D STOP RIGHT HERE AND REFFER TO A 7D INSTEAD... the 60D is a great beginners camera but thats it.

I have out grown my 60D way too quickly. I'm just going to lists Pros and cons that I found in a non-geeky camera way:

Pros:
Very easy to learn. up to 6fps, great for beginners. The articulated screen is AWESOME and very durable incase you're wondering. 1.6 crop makes it good for that little extra telephoto capabilities, its surprisingly solid despite the plastic build (I've literally taken my 60D through rain forests, rivers, beaches, on boats, in -0 temps, I shot in the rain countless of times, and it all still works well.. plz keep in mind I did this cuz i have the extended warrantee and im one of those guys who wont mind breaking a camera to get the shot). overall its an awesome little camera that can take some damage...

NOW THE CONS (why I feel as though I've out grown it and ready for a 5D MKIII):

it is wayyyyyyy TOO NOISY at higher ISOs... even starting at ISO 1000. like I mentioned before, I shoot a lot of sports and I need a camer that can handle higher ISOs better so i can use a faster shutter speed. also the 9 auto focus points aren't cutting it for me. I love the Lexar Professional SDHC card that I use (32GB, x400), it buffers well with me shooting RAW s + S JPEG but I think im ready for a CF card or better yet a dual. The sensor in my opinion at these higher ISO speeds gets really unsharp (sorry if im not using the right terms, again im an amateur just giving my own experiences in the easiest way i can). I have a 70-200mm 2.8 non-IS but i use a monopod and while shooting some night time community soccer under decent flood lighting, my shots thought framed pretty good, were terribly noisy, blurry and out of focus... I believe this is due to the bad noise handeling, the low number of auto focus points and the inability to keep the action sharp 1/640+.

If your intentions are like mine, you want to shoot fast action or you work in low lighting, consider another option (more likely around a higher price) but if your budget only permits you at this price and you shoot casually, or in well lit areas, this is a beautiful little camera.

lastly, the kit lens, yuip u guest it, out grew that in a few months. Just like the 60D, its a great little starter lens but if you plan to grow with your camera, you may consider upgrading. My first lens buy was the 50mm 1.4. AWESOME LENS, its a MUST HAVE unless you have more money to burn and you get the L 1.2 (i'v used it and its even more awesome, but idk if the price difference justifies it at this stage.. may be for pros but not now). dont let the fact that its a prime scare you, it will train you to become better and more artistic with your work- i better go write a review for it now instead of chatting up on this one...lol

Comments about Canon EOS 60D DSLR Camera (Body Only):

I have been looking to pick up a nice EOS style camera for many years, and after much looking around and debating, I settled on the EOS 60D for the features and price. I was expecting it to be a great camera, until I got it.. and then I was blown away. The thing is jam packed full of features, the quality is amazing, and the speed is much faster than I have a need for, but I am glad to have it! Battery life is outstanding, ease of use, size, weight, everything. I absolutely love this and wouldn't go anywhere without it.

I use this particular camera for wildlife, landscape and aviation photography. It is an easy to use camera. And once you have set up the parameters for the type of shooting you are doing everything just falls into place. There are times when, depending on what you are shooting, the battery life just seems to vanish. But I have noticed this when many high end cameras under certain conditions.

I guess I just love this camera and was too afraid to try anything else. I own this camera personally and just recommended it to my employer to buy for the company. Advantage over the rebel series, is the settings screen on top of the handle. A small detail, but for the little extra is a great thing to have, and you'll never want to be without it.

Comments about Canon EOS 60D DSLR Camera (Body Only):

I'm a camera/photo enthusiast who also captures the family's activities on something other than a phone, or tablet/pad. So, when the family comments on the quality of my photos I give at least half the credit to my equipment. The 60D may be considered "under pixeled" when compared to a 24-36 mp Nikon, but I've been quite pleased with the resolution provided by my 18mp cameras (T2i, T5i, in addition to my 60D), and even my 10 mp SX 120. I shoot mostly stills, and appreciate the 60D's fast shutter, low light performance, articulating screen, control layout, and battery life. The price was an amazing $, the build quality is top notch, it's weather/dust resistant, and works with all my Canon lens. Yes, the 70D has an additional 2mp sensor, touch screen, and an AF that improves video performance, but videos are a rarity for me, and with the $ I saved I purchased another lens!

So i've been renting this camera at my school and I used this same exact camera at my job and I just fell in love with it. What sold me into getting this camera was the features. The fact that I can pull out the view screen was a must to have in order to take shots without having to look over uncomfortably. Secondly I just love how fast and easy it is for me to change my settings, from all in focus to just one thing in focus by just a turn in the dial/f-stop :)

Comments about Canon EOS 60D DSLR Camera (Body Only):

After being a happy owner of the Canon Rebel XTi until the shutter started wearing out after 30,000+ photographs, I decided to upgrade to the 60D. What a leap, the 60D is much faster, low light shots can almost be hand held. I bought the EFS 18-135mm lens with this camera, the pair works excellent together. I wasn't as happy with an "L" series lens I bought the same day (17-40mm). Turns out the "L" series lenses work best with full-frame cameras such as 5D or 6D.

The 60D has a ton of features, I bet I only used about 10% of them. I usually take pictures of moving subjects (transportation releated), this camera along with the 18-135mm lens is perfect. I'd recomend this camera to anyone moving up from the Rebel series. For those that can afford it, I highly recomend the full-frame cameras. After 2- years of using the 60D, reading alot about cameras, and speaking to other photographers, I spurged on the full-frame 5D MarkIII. Its night & day! The full-frame 5D is even quicker then the 60D with sharper images and wider field of view. I tested the same lens on both cameras, and I have much more view in the 5D.

This is our second 60D, but just purchased the body only to compliment our existing equipment. Love the quality of pictures the camera produces. It was a bit complicated at first, but there is a ton of youtube info out there, so it didn't take long to master things. I would strongly recommend this camera!

Comments about Canon EOS 60D DSLR Camera (Body Only):

There are newer cameras in the Canon lineup, but this one still deserves your consideration. It is an excellent camera with good build quality. I can imagine theoretical situations where a (more expensive) full frame camera would be preferable, but in actual use I have never had a problem getting the shot. I am planning to upgrade to a full frame 5D or 6D in the future, but the features and picture quality of this camera make it difficult to justify the expense.

The only problem I have had are some small scratches on the plastic LCD screen. My daughter was holding the camera around her neck and it was scratched by a necklace she was wearing. I'd recommend that you use a screen protector and/or just be careful with it.

Comments about Canon EOS 60D DSLR Camera (Body Only):

Well first off I have gone from 8.2 mp 20D up to 18 mp and the higher resolution is incredible. I also love the fact that the ISO has been pushed so far out as I love low light photography. I love the flip out rear lcd panel and the fact you can angle it for tricky shots or close it up to store it safely. The camera feel a bit lighter than my old 20D and the addition of the Creative modes are interesting as is video. I am still learning my way around this camera. The only thing I have not liked so far is that you have to depress the top button on the mode button to change it. Possibly this is something that has been around for a while but my 20D I could just turn the dial, this one I have to depress the button first. Obviously someone turned it by accident, and know it is a new thing I have to learn.

Comments about Canon EOS 60D DSLR Camera (Body Only):

I've had this thing for over 3 years now. Hopefully I'll get an upgrade soon, but that's not important... Great for landscapes, alright for wildlife, but absolutely terrible for sports. Trust me, anything higher than 1250 ISO is noisy and grainy (even at 2.8). I primarily focus on landscapes and this thing is perfect for that. Good for amateurs, but also a sturdy, cheaper second-body for pros (not that they need my opinion). :)

I've had a EOS 60-D for a few years. Getting this one for
my daughter. I use mine for vacations in the Smoky Mountains. I also use it for family photos. I love
how you can change the focus. The no flash setting is
important for grandkid's annual dance event. I just do
photos, but my daughter will use hers for video.

I use this product for a lot of freelance work including press events, concerts, portraits and weddings. It has done me well in all scenarios. My only complaint is that it is not the best in shooting video in lowlight settings but I always pack external lights so it does not pose to much of an issue. The 60d is easy to use, has an understandable interface and a sturdy build. I have used the next level up 7D as well and I honestly prefer this one.

The great thing about this DSLR is that you seem to be getting more than what it's worth. I paired this with a Canon EF-S 18-135 mm lens and the image is so crisp. If you're looking to make home videos, (which is what I use it for,) then this is a great starter camera.
