I am a professional photographer specializing in Family Beach Portraits and Beach Weddings, so I don't really want to take a multi thousand $ camera to the beach, and have been using the Rebel T3i with a Sigma 17-70mm lens, but wanted a more robust camera and chose the 60D with the 18-135mm lens. My first photo shoot this week with this camera worked great.
PROS: I love the speed at which I can take pictures - I was working with a young child, who was not being very cooperative, and had to take the photos quickly when the opportunity arose, and they all turned out beautiful and very crisp.
I really like the Electronic Level feature, it helps with making sure my horizon is straight without having to do any straightening and cropping in post production.
CONS: I wish the lens had a lock on it as it suffers from lens creep very badly. I took 1 star off my rating because of this problem.
Overall I am very pleased with this camera and would recommend it.

Well, the image quality of this camera is similar than others that are not full-frame DSLR. So the kit worth it, even knowing that you'll need to get other lenses to get a little more sharpness in your pictures. Now, the problem with the 60D appears when you want to capture video with sound. I mean, there are some trouble to deal with recording video with most DSLRs. For example the autofocus... Any camcorder, can focus continously ten times better than the DSLRs (even than the new Rebel T4i)... Everybody knows that, BUT the real problem comes if you need to take good sound attached to the video. I am a professional videographer. I was told about the big adventages of recording video with a DSLR instead of an expensive video camera (the warm of the image, the cinema-like texture, the low-light performance), but nobody told me anything about the sound. First of all, you don't have headphones output to listen what is going on with the sound while you're recording. Second, metering the sound levels (vumeter) is only available inside a setup screen, not while recording. Probably you heard about Magic Lantern... It's a firmware modifier that allows you to use headphones (via USB output) but Canon does not support it. So, would you take the risk of losing your new camera? Well, I thought I could get use to record without listening, making some previous tests and watching the vumeter before recording, So, I plugged my professional Audio Technica Boom mic to the 60D and started to record.... But SURPRISE!!! When I heard in my computer, what was recorded, I heard a very low quality sound... How could it be? I ve been using this self-powered microphone (electret system) for years, and attached to different cameras with no problems. Specifically, this time the sound was full of medium frequencies. No low freqs at all. And the noise floor was close to the vocal levels (less than 30db between voices and the white noise it produces). For a smooth scene that is totally unacceptable. As a temporary solution (and after 10 attempts) and expecting to avoid to record sound separetely, I plugged the mic to an old video camera. Then, I connected the headphones output of the camera to the 60D mic input. Finally, I put the sound control level at the minimum in the 60D to get the lowest noise as possible. The sound achieved wasn't perfect but much better. In conclussion, If you're thinking to use the DSLR to make some videos or movies, and the sound is important to you, and you don't have time to synchronize it afterwards, think it twice.

Comments about EOS 60D DSLR Camera Kit with Canon EF-S 18-135mm IS Lens:

I've had my Canon 60D for about 3 1/2 years. Love it, great camera for someone who wants a little better than an entry level, "Rebel". Doesn't do real well in low light. Currently, I still use the EF-S 18-135 kit lens, (which is what I used for the sample photo) which can take some very good photos. This photo was taken at Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park wyoming

Comments about EOS 60D DSLR Camera Kit with Canon EF-S 18-135mm IS Lens:

I bought this camera as a really nice, all purpose camera. Think family events, travel, having fun with enough capacity to get serious and learn about photography over time.

The feel of the camera in the hand is excellent. Because it's the "old" model the megapixel count isn't as high as the new 70D, but the price difference easily justified giving up a few MP.

The camera is easy to use, point and click, or you can take your time and set up shots. The flip out screen is great, bright and clear.

The EF-S 18x135MM lens is wonderful. It is bright, clear, precise and very smooth.

This is my first "expensive" camera and I love it! I'm a videographer that mainly does interviews and sporting events, and I always end up with the perfect shot. There are two reasons why I opted to buy this camera with the kit lens: A) I could not afford to buy L series lenses at the time. B) although this lens is not "Great" at anything, it is passable for everything... It has a nice build quality to it, and so far I have not had any problems with it.

My background is in sound, so I asked around as to which DSLR took good stills and was good for video. The Canon EOS 60d was recommended, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the entire learning curve. I know that there are supposedly much better ones but it will be very hard to beat the features of the 60d at the price from B&H.

Comments about EOS 60D DSLR Camera Kit with Canon EF-S 18-135mm IS Lens:

I bought this camera without much experience with dslr's, but after much research. The 60d is definitely worth the money IF you are willing to take the time and learn how to use it and all of it's functions. If you don't, then you might as well have bough a point and shoot camera for $, because you will get the same thing out of it. Once you learn how everything works it unlocks a wide variety of things you can do creatively, and allows you to have much more control over your images/videos.

I would buy this again and again if I had the money (of course) at least thank goodness for the 3 year drops and spills by Square Trade. I've been using this camera with my school for a couple of years now and I am super happy that I have a 60D of my own. This is a great camera for fun use, professional use, commercial use and you can add all sorts of additions like flash, shotgun mic, tascam, etc. I use the 60D more for portraits (indoor and outdoor), and commercial use and it's perfect. Six years ago I had a Canon Rebel XTi, which is still great and takes awesome photos. I needed to upgrade due to the video function on the 60D. Here's my reason why I chose the 60D over the 7D, because SD cards are much more friendlier and lighter than CF cards. Then I chose the 60D over 5D Mark II because I was on a budget and for what the 60D price is now, it's great and perfect.

Comments about EOS 60D DSLR Camera Kit with Canon EF-S 18-135mm IS Lens:

The 60D is my first digital camera, purchased for a mixture of still photos and video.

I tend not to use the AF, but as I occasionally do event/photojournalism, it's a beautiful feature that I've found works well! A little sad about the lack of micro adjust.

The swivel LCD is great! Very valuable in both still portraits and shooting video. Camera has a nice grip, I don't find the screen getting in the way ever and the body itself has a nice fit in my hand. It's actually quite light compared to the cameras I usually use, which has been kind of an adjustment.

Kit lens is, of course, fairly useless, but it's a nice thing to have in terms of just owning a zoom and getting to play around a bit.

Overall, could be better in low light. And it's a pretty weird adjustment coming from the film-only world, but I'm enjoying it so far!

I'd been looking for a new DSLR for quite awhile and did a lot of research into which one I wanted. This camera had everything I wanted, good reviews and fell into my price range. But I hesitated on spending the money. When my brother announced he was getting married (2nd marriage) and they asked me to photograph their wedding, I knew it was time to buy it! I've only had the camera for a few weeks now, but I am very happy with the pictures I've taken. The pictures are sharp with excellent color rendition. It works well in low light. I love the versatility of being able to use a dedicated external flash off camera, a feature which I've never had before. The camera is exceptionally comfortable to hold. It turns on quickly and focuses quickly and accurately. It's very easy to change the primary settings such as ISO, focus point and drive from the top buttons, and most other setting are quickly accessed through the on-screen menu. I can't comment on the video quality as I haven't used it yet. Using this camera has already become an absolute pleasure.

It was a nice step up from the T3i. I am taking photography classes and wanted something with more features. It takes great pictures. Exactly what I was looking for.

My wife and I purchased this camera about 8 months ago and absolutely love the quality. While it takes great photographs I primarily purchased it for the video quality. I have been using this for videos that I have to submit to my university and have been very impressed by the quality. I have not used Magic Lantern with the camera and I probably won't because I love it just the way it came. This might be a bit pricey for newcomers but the quality won't let you down. As an aspiring videographer I can't wait to improve my skills with this camera.

I've always used Canon products, starting with the F1. When I moved to DSLR cameras I selected the Rebel T2i. At that time I had a separate video camera and the Rebel. Over time I got more comfortable shooting/editing video and came to rely on the Rebel. After six years with the Rebel I wanted to step up to a Canon that was better suited for video. The 60D is that camera. Finally I can set the audio levels manually. The articulated viewfinder is a nice touch that makes the whole experience more pleasant. I use the camera almost exclusively for video and I couldn't be happier! The fact that all my old lenses and flash fit the new camera is icing on the cake.
