I've been searching for a bag like this for a few years. I'd used another bag by a different manufacturer and after a few uses, I realized it was a mistake being nothing more than a rather large bulky fanny pack. My second bag was a backpack by Kata that I still enjoy but not for photowalks.

The LighTri-318 UL Torso Pack is as close to exactly what I want withouth designing one myself. There's plenty of room for the body with a long lens and my extra equipment: filter box, bag cover, cleaner and wipes, sd card cases, extra batteries, small bottle of water and speedlight. One of the yellow dividers is a pocket and has a flap that may be placed over the camera body to protect the lcd display. The extra removable pouch is large enough for my cell phone, id, car key. There are 2 external pockets (one on the front and one on the back) that will accommodate flat items nicely but that's about it, maybe a small guide book. I would have prefered to have had an expandable pocket on the front to free up the pouch on the side for other things. The straps are comfortable and there are extras included to attach other pieces of the EPH system. There is a pad to make the bag more comfortable to wear but I've not tried it yet. There is one strange issue with this bag, on the middle of the front pocket, there is a zipper that when opened exposes the support spline and nothing else........why?? Taking it out doesn't give anymore room elsewhere.

All in all, I'm happy with this choice and give it 4 stars only because I couldn't give 4.5.

I really like the design of this bag. The straps and the way the bag sits when carried were great. The problem, very little padding in the interior. This could be the best bag ever if Kata would spend some time on the interior design. the forward divider is a padded piece. The middle piece is just cheap nylon that doesn't even go all the way to the bottom of the bag. I was looking for full padded dividers with flaps for stacking gear. No such luck with this set-up. Very dissapointing as I was looking forward to this bag. As much as I liked the shape and carry set-up of this bag I had to return it due to the lack of padding for my equipment.

Comments about Kata LighTri-318 UL Torso Pack:

I loved the look of this camera bag. Unfortunately it was just a little too big for my Samsung NX2000 compact camera. I had to send it back for a refund. Which was no problem at all. B&H has always been very accommodating with any problems I have had in the past. The bag was a little pricey too and after receiving it I thought that it could of been a little bit cheaper. The quality of it was very nice but if i had a choice between this one's fabric or the same one in leather I would of chose leather. Leather would of been worth the price. I would recommend this to anyone except that they wouldn't purchase it due to the high price.

        Great bag!

Comments about Kata LighTri-318 UL Torso Pack:

I've been searching for the perfect bag for a few years now, and in that search I've purchased 6 bags and a couple of hard side cases. It's worse than selecting a camera! Anyways, I got this as a smaller alternative than my Manfrotto Professional Backpack 20, when I don't want to lug everything around. The Kata holds my 6D with 24-105, 17-40, 70-300, 24 f2.8, and 50 f1.8, a couple of hoods for the L lenses, and a few filters. It's not a small bag, but not as large and unwieldy as a backpack. It's easy to move it from front to back if you don't have the small strap buckled, which is convenient if you want to switch from standing to sitting. The double zipper bag opens fast and it's easy to get your camera. I agree with someone else here about the velcro in front of the double zipper; seems redundant with the latch. Very versatile and you can remove the little pouch on the side if you don't need it. It can carry a flash or a smaller lens. It may just be the perfect bag! Looking at the Kata site, it said this bag had limited availability. Kata is part of the Vitec Group now, which also owns Manfrotto, so maybe they are phasing out this bag so it doesn't compete with their Manfrotto products. That would be a shame since this is truly a great product. Pick this up fast while its on sale and still available!

I DO A LOTE OF STREET PHOTOGRAPHY AND NEEDED A SMALL BAG FOR ONE OR TWO LENSES, SO I PICK THIS BASED ON KATA's REP. AFTER WALKING AROUND WITH IT FOR HOURS I NOTESS IT WAS VERY ACCESSIBLE. I WAS ABLE TO PUSH IT OUT OF THE WAY FROM THE FRONT TO THE BACK. IT HELD A LOT MORE THEN I EXPECTED IT HELD MY 70-200MM, 50MM, 24-70MM ALL L SERIES LENSES AND STILL HAD ROOM FOR A FLASH. IT HAS A LARGE FRONT POCKET TO HOLD FILTERS AND MAYBE A WALLET.

Comments about Kata LighTri-318 UL Torso Pack:

This bag was just what I was looking for. I wanted a bag to carry a 70-200mm f/4, on camera, as well as two smaller lenses in bag, that would leave room to grow, provide lots of room for accessories, and allow customization for days when I want to travel lighter.

I wear this bag as a sling as opposed to a torso pack, and find it more comfortable than any other sling I have owned to date. I've easily worn it for entire days worth of shooting without strain or issue.

I would definitely purchase this bag again.

i have owned the lowepro and tarmac sling pacs and this one is far superior. Extremely light, carries my 1D mark III with 70-200 L attached in perfect position with easy access. Easily hold 1-2 additional lenses. I haven't tried the extra triangle strap for long hikes but the primary strap is very comfortable. I have attached it to the bumblebee 222 pack and it is a great combo. It allows me to carry a huge amount of gear comfortably. I have also removed the padded insert from the pack and used it as a simple day pack keeping my gear in the chest packmfor full day hikes. Will be heading to Costa Rica with this combo in Feb. Can't wait
