I'm using them as an alternate reference for mixing and editing in control room environment where I don't have to worry about unwanted sounds coming in or going out of the 'phones.

(-) These would not be good for overdubs because of the open design- the sound would escape and "bleed" into the mic too much for that.

(+) They don't make my ears hot and sweaty! I hate how my 7506's and other "isolation" 'phones make my ears hot after a while. Also, because these cushions don't actually touch my ears, my ears don't feel "squooshed" and sore.

(-)I do wear glasses, and the the velvet cushions do squeek on my glasses. - as do all headphones, but these are noisier on the glasses than other headphones. I'm thinking about puting some electrical tape over the bows of my glasses....it's just a thought. then I can REALLY look like a geek ;)

(-)the chords are lime green--kinda strange...color. I don't see that they really "go" with these white 'phones but "oh, well". They're 'phones, not a fashion statement!

(-)my bigger beef with the chords is that they seem to be rather light in gauge. They just don't "feel" like quality chords. I hope they prove me wrong.

(+)I can't complain about the price...I did some shopping around and B&H came through for me again!

Incredibly uncomfortable.

Bumps in the headphone band make this THE most uncomfortable headphone I've had the displeasure of wearing.

Comments about AKG Q701 Quincy Jones Signature On-Ear Reference Headphones (White):

The AKG q701 is almost unbeatable at its price. I use a Modi as DAC and Magni as amplifier. They drive the q701 well (I am not sure if it is good enough). The sound of it is surely at a higher stage than the AKG 240 series.

It is light but a little tight, and you may find it a little annoying if you are a glasses wearer.

Comments about AKG Q701 Quincy Jones Signature On-Ear Reference Headphones (White):

I use the product for mixing and general listening. The best features of the headphones are the comfort and the stereo field. It is easy to identify instruments and there placement in the stereo field. Although the frequency response is flat. The bass could be a little bit more.

Comments about AKG Q701 Quincy Jones Signature On-Ear Reference Headphones (White):

Mixing, Mastering, and enjoying music is what I do with the headphones. I'm a previous owner of the K701's. These headphones seem to be less bright in the high end in my opinion. It is easier to hear the stereo field placement of professional mixes. The headphone design is comfortable and they are non fatiguing. The frequency response is very flat which makes it easier to balance mixes with these phones. Last but not least the bass response is less pronounced than other headphones like beats for instance which isn't such a bad thing.

Comments about AKG Q701 Quincy Jones Signature On-Ear Reference Headphones (White):

The reason I got these was because I wanted a pair of headphones that were lightweight, and could wear for a long period of time without any discomfort. I have a pair of Beyer DT 770 Pro's and the Beyer's have a little fuller low end, but they are closed-back and heavier, and they make my ears sweat after listening to them for a relatively short period of time. The AKG's have a little less bass but it is not a deal breaker. They are much more comfortable than the Beyer's and you could literally fall asleep with them on. So based on the level of comfort and sound quality, I give this 5 stars.

          Great Cans!

          By Audio Al

Comments about AKG Q701 Quincy Jones Signature On-Ear Reference Headphones (White):

I find these headphones very comfortable due to the very large area inside of the ear cups, so my ears never touch the pads and the material on the pads, these are the first open design headphones I have owned and I don't think I'll ever look back at the closed design again. I like the material on the cups superior to the vinyl, naugahyde, etc. that are used on a lot of other phones, great for extended listening sessions without getting perspiration buildup from vinyl types of materials. Smooth, clean audio quality of the mid's and high frequencies, the low frequencies are realistic to me, as opposed to the hyped subwoofer preferences of our times. These phones come with 2 cords, one 10' and one 20', nice option for use in difference listening situations. I use these phones for listening to a variety of genres of music from symphonic, big band's with lots of horns and lots of rock and I use them when playing with my electronic drums. Light weight, comfortable and superb audio quality, I'm a happy camper!

Comments about AKG Q701 Quincy Jones Signature On-Ear Reference Headphones (White):

These headphones aren't for everybody, but if you give them a shot they can probably amaze you. Best for smoky jazz and classical, they feature a wide soundstage, and warm middle tones. Even when I listen to hip-hop, I hear such dynamic and variation in the spoken word- amazing! Not for bass lovers!
The build is comfortable, but they feel a bit on the cheap end- I wish there were more metal parts rather than plastic. On the other hand, I'd be willing to bet that the driver and other internal parts are all top notch. An excellent pair of headphones for casual listeners, professionals, and audiophiles alike.

Love the velvet cushion (better when you sweat)
            Two length cables.
Semi-open headphones not very noisy to exterior ears.

Sound quality is impeccable, they can be a little too bright with some music styles, but bass is still tight and present, bassheads will find it missing some "woof". I would recommend to anyone who wants a good pair of headphones for late night movies and games, for the music enthusiam there may be better choice at this price range.

This are a delight to wear, lightweight, and wonderful listening experience. Out of the box they sound great, and as the drivers loosen up (70hrs burn-in), the level of detail has risen to amazing. Each day they just keep getting better and better. Fare warning, they do leak a lot of sound, which in turn rewards you with clean and open sound-stage. I use these primarily for PC gaming (w/X-Fi sound card, and E9 desktop amp), the open sound-stage and finite details allow for exceptional audio position. I recommend these to any high-end gamer who desires the immersive gaming experience. It's a ESP like advantage in on-line FPS games. As for listening to music, you'll be delighted at the level of detail that now become more apparent when using these.

Do your online research, you'll find nothing but positive reviews all over. Treat yourself to a set of wonderful headphones, and buy these! Bass-heads need not apply.

Comments about AKG Q701 Quincy Jones Signature On-Ear Reference Headphones (White):

Comparing to well known 240 reference series, Q701 is with more characters. The sound is wider because of the fully open design, but with much precise positioning. The sound is simply crystal clear with very fast dynamic response, resulting in very pleasant listening experience. In my opinion it is exceptional for strings such as piano and guitar. With the amazing price from BH, you definitely can't find anything better than that.

Please note that you need to run it for at least several days to get better sound. The OOB sound is quite different. With the impedance, you can use it with most of the portable devices after burning in. Most of the time I attach it with my recording interface for the best sound quality.

Even those these are supposed to require a considerable burn-in period, they sound good from the box, used for classical recording. Not super comfortable although they will soften, and can be fairly easily heard from outside the headphone (off the back). But I am glad to have them...and they look cool!

An absolute great value by the Austrian headset manufacturer. It sits comfortably an got lots of details from high to low. Also like the fact that it came with two cables (3m and 5m ~ 9 and 15ft) which is not even advertised and both can be used with the small and bigger plug. Love it!
