It'd be better if it was a 50db cable, but considering this is the ONLY one I could find like this . . . It's certainly helped with syncing audio to my 7D without clipping. If you want to use the audio from it, then you really need to set the output volume on your Zoom a lot lower than you'd normally use for headphones.

I have a splitter so I can monitor and record backup/reference audio to the 7D. This helps, but not the best. The cable quality is good and I assume this will last me some time even with daily use (eng style work.)

Poorly Made

I took it on the road to shoot a doc and put it through normal use. The cable started cutting out in one channel after one day of use and eventually stopped working.

Doesn't work with GH4

By Sully C.

from CT USA

Comments about Sescom LN2MIC-ZOOMH4N - Line to Microphone Attenuation Cable for HDSLR Cameras:

Bought this as I thought I needed this to connect my H4N to my GH4.... It doesn't work... The audio is totally distorted and does NOT come in correctly at all no matter which end you use, it simply doesn't work. Haven't tried it with other actual DSLR's but the GH4's preamps cannot handle this cable. Nor can the G7.

It is what you need to get audio signal from your "handheld" audio recorder in manageable levels recorded to your dSLR.
              I use it for Tascam DR07 and 5D mk3.

No need to buy expensive passive audio adapters, when you can use this awesome cable to convert from line out to mic out for DSLR cameras, where I widely record sound directly into the camera most of the time, to save time during editing.

This cord seems well built and has solid contacts with both the H4n and my DSLR.
It also seems well built with a think and sold wire insulation.
Also the length of the cord is perfect, not to short that it will pull on the plugs and not too long to get caught on your hand when reaching near it.
However, as we all know when it comes to electrical cords, ratings and reviews are best done after many months or years of use, to be able to test a cord's longevity.

I was looking for a way to record line level audio via XLR into my GH3, to avoid any audio sync issues when taping long events. I have the Tascam DR-40 audio recorder and was told about the Sescom LN2MIC-ZOOMH4N cable. It works flawlessly. The audio recorded on the camera sounds great, is in perfect sync, and it couldn't be easier to set up. Highly recommended.

I use this for reducing gain from a Sound Devices mixer when using the line inputs on an H4N. I use a 3.5mm connector to add a 3.5mm to stereo 1/4 " cable to complete the signal path.

A bit on the expensive side, but this does the trick if you're using a DSLR that has only a MIC LEVEL input. Works great with a Zoom H4n and Zoom H6 and Canon 70D, Canon T4i, and Canon 5DMk3 cameras.

I guess it works but when I plugged it in I lrealized I lost my monitoring input because of it. And it doesn't sound the same from the camera. I checked both audios and though it sounds better than the on board camera it still seems to lose quality because the recorded zoom audio still sounds better. But I'm still tampering with the settings. Maybe its a user issue.

Giving this a 3 for now. Cable was recommended by sales staff as well by many people online while doing research.
Was hoping this would help reduce the hiss when recording video on my 7D with microphone and H1 recorder. There is still noticable hiss which can be fixed post in editing software but I need something for when I have to give video right away and I am not able to edit it before hand.
Based off other positive reviews thinking mine could be defective and exchanging.

Have been using a Zoom field recorder for audio on my DSLR Film Projects. Really helps to have an backup of audio plus makes it way easier to sync audio. This small investment is definitely worth it. I consider this a MUST HAVE for DSLR Productions if using a Zoom or other field recorder.

Work well on my HDR-XR550V and my Zoom H1, I would've prefer a cheaper shipping method, but I guess this is what you get when you want to have a rare item like this wire that isnt sell anywhere here in Quebec. The sound isn't as clear as the zoom h1 it self but I guess it depend on your camera mic input.

If you have a DSLR and a zoom recorder you need this. It's only 20 something dollars and...WOW! The audio sounds tons better than the other mic I was using on my camera. You don't even have to hit record on the zoom. As long as it's in record preview it's sending kick-but audio to the card in your camera!

After searching for some time looking for a solution (other than building a pad), I came across this little magic cable. I have wanted to use my mixer, which has a line level output, in conjunction with my Canon 60D which is at mic level. This cable solved the problem, providing about a 25db pad that brings levels down into a manageable range to allow for manual control. Once set, all levels can now be controlled at the mixer. A great little solution to achieve professional audio, although it is a bit pricey.
