I used this camera on a motorcycle trip last summer. It takes amazing clear photos while moving extremely fast. The gps function is great for remembering exactly where the photo was taken. I didn't have to worry about the weather and the camera getting wet. I also took it on a whitewater rafting trip. It was great to be able to take photos while going down the river and under the water. I haven't found anything I don't like about this camera. The zoom is good. The gps function is great. If you are an outdoor enthusist this is the camera for you.

It was my all-purpose camera for Amazon & Galapagos trip. Have some very good photos. Lens fogged sometimes in high humidity - waited and it cleared. Intelligent Auto setting very easy and handled lighting well; Beach & Snorkeling worked for bright sun & lower light underwater, Scene Mode - many useful setting, e.g., beautiful sunsets, photo from airplane window. Fish often not close enough using 4.8 zoom during snorkeling - however, stabilizer helped keep steady holding camera at arms length & clicked away. Action usually was captured - fast shutter speed and fast processing of photo file allowed multiple photos quickly.

Comments about Lumix DMC-TS3 Digital Camera (Orange):

I bought this camera just over a year ago for a one week trip to Thailand. Although the camera performed well, I was concerned that whilst out on a sea-kayaking trip the camera had condensation inside the lens. For some of the trip, it was useless - images were fogged, and I needed to wait for the camera to clear.
A few days ago I took the camera for a beach camping trip and went swimming with it and found that despite the camera/memory card door being sealed and locked, seawater had managed to enter around the flash window and that was it - game over. I'm unlikely to get anything back under warranty given it's over a year old, but I'll be replacing it with a Canon D20.
It's a pity - image quality (incl. full HD video) is great, but it's simply not apparently reliable enough to be truly considered a waterproof camera.
One other gripe - videos taken with the camera don't appear under OSX - you need to negotiate down through 5 different folders to get the files, and they're MTS files needing transcoding if you're intending to put them in a movie. A quibble, but a valid one all the same.

Comments about Lumix DMC-TS3 Digital Camera (Silver):

I am also very very dissatisfied with Panasonic as a company. I bought a Lumix 5 after 2 weeks the camera didn't not perform at all.
I contacted Panasonic they agreed with the problem after troubleshooting over the phone. They asked me to return for an evaluation. No they didn't pay for the shipping.

I called while the camera was at their shop, and they told me on the phone that they were going to replace it; however, out of the same breath they changed their mind and told me they were send it back.
I received the camera back as soon I opened tried the camer and it had the same problem. I contacted them again, and they agree again and this time they sent the shipping label and postage.

A couple of weeks later I received a letter stating that there was nothing wrong but they were willing to have a conference call. At that point, I didn't want to wast my time, or human cell with these morons.

I guess I'm spoiled with Canon's service. Please be aware Warranty from Panasonic its meaningless.

Nevertheless, I returned the camera back to the store that I purchased it. By the way, the store checked the camera and they were in agreement with me.

Comments about Lumix DMC-TS3 Digital Camera (Orange):

I bought this camera because of the good reviews on DPReview and Gizmodo. I had this camera for less than three months before it stopped working. I took pictures before taking it the water, in the water, and after going in the water. I followed the directions to a "T." Even so, it leaked water. I sent it to Panasonic Customer Service. I was told the seals passed the test, but it would be [$] to repair it. If the seals passed, and I followed the directions, I don't understand how it leaked. I only had it for three months - well within the warranty period. It should be covered. I was told by a Panasonic Customer Representative they received many DMC-TS3 cameras for leak repairs. If numerous other customers are having the same issue, it sounds like a product defect. They lost me as a customer. I won't be buying another Panasonic camera.

Comments about Lumix DMC-TS3 Digital Camera (Orange):

This camera is like a one-stop shop for photos and videos -- on dry ground and under water.

We've stopped bringing anything else on vacation knowing that this product will be able handle anything on the run. Whether it's in the pool, down a water park slide, or in the restaurant that night, this is the camera to use.

The photo and video quality have impressed everyone we've shown.

If though, you're comparing this to a digital SLR, you would be disappointed with the kinds of response time you'd experience with that level of camera. So, be realistic in your expectations of response time.

I would recommend, though, that you find a complementary product that ensures that the camera doesn't drop to the bottom of the lake or in deep sea. It's been a great additional investment.

It had this camera for about a couple of months and it was not cheap, for a compact camera, but was working nicely and I was happy with it. Even though I followed every precaution and instruction it has in the manual it stopped working for no reason while I was at the beach. I am from Brazil and because I bought the camera abroad Panasonic says I got no guarantee and would charge US$ 250,00 just to open it to check what happened. Never buy from Panasonic again.

Comments about Lumix DMC-TS3 Digital Camera (Orange):

The TS-3 is a descent point and shoot camera. It is fairly easy to use with an intuitive menu. The brief explanation of each feature on the menu is also helpful. Picture quality and auto focus leave something to be desired. 1/3 of what I paid was for the point and shoot abilities, the other 2/3 was for the waterproof case. I did not use the TS-3 underwater out of fear that it may further hinder overall picture quality. This is a fun, rugged, easy to use, multi-purpose camera. However, if you are planning to capture once in lifetime moments, use another platform.

I own a land surveying firm and perform a lot of ALTA and As-built surveys which tend to be location intensive. I bought this camera for 1 of my field crews who liked it so much I bought 3 more. The cameras take great pics and it is worth its weight in gold to be able to tell where the photo was taken, at what time, and which direction the photo is pointing. I highly recommend this camera to anyone needed a rugged body that takes great geo referenced photos.

Comments about Lumix DMC-TS3 Digital Camera (Orange):

Bought this camera before leaving on a beach vacation in Mexico. Took it out of the box and headed out without even reading the manual. Very easy to figure out. Tons of preprogrammed picture modes though the automatic one works very well.

It took great pictures above and below the water. Great shots in bright sunlight as well. Very vivid color reproduction. Least shutter lag of any point and shoot camera I've used. There's also a burst mode that ensures you never have to miss a photograph.

Things to take note. No view finder - so composing a picture in bright sun is sometimes hard. Low light performance isn't bad, but it isn't anything to write home about either. Though it's more than adequate for most night time shooting.

Very good picture quality at low zoom. The zoom is all digital so it's fairly limited (I believe 4x and you'll notice the degraded quality). On the flip side, because there's no moving parts on the zoom, sand can't get in there and gum up the works (that's killed my last 3 waterproof cameras). The lens is always exposed so I could see that it could get scratched but we didn't have any problem with this.

As with all amphibious cameras, you need to wipe the lens after you take it out of the water to ensure there's no drops on the lens that would affect the picture. Also because there's no lens cover, fingers with suntan lotion need to be kept away.

Battery life lasted all day with up to 500 shots with 25-35% of them using flash.

Overall a great camera. I'd have to think really hard about taking a SLR on another vacation in the future. Looking forward to using it around town as well.

I had a friend that bought the same camera tell me how cool taking underwater pictures was with the camera and decided to buy my own. My friend had to return her camera for an issue with it and when I got mine was a little concerned. I used mine twice and had water leak into it somehow. Was dissappointed when this happened and called to return it. The return was very easy and I recieved my new camera within the week. I have been using it to take pictures in a pool and it is great. No other issue with the new camera.
