Comments about Vanguard Auctus Plus 323CT Carbon Fiber Tripod:

There aren't many other tripods with these specs. This tripod has many slick details I find really useful. For my needs, I needed a tall tripod with a geared center column. However, I found that the column is prone to wobbling even with the column clamps tightened. Otherwise, this tripod would have been a great value vs performance item.

Comments about Vanguard Auctus Plus 323CT Carbon Fiber Tripod:

I have bought Vanguard products in the past and have been pleased with my purchases from them. This is my third tripod, one large aluminum SLIK AMT, and one portable Manfrotto. I have had a few questions that were not answered by the product descriptions online, and Vanguard have been very prompt and knowledgeable in the responses. Fits my Arca-swiss monoball head nicely. The Auctus feels solid. Fit and finish are exceptional, what you should expect at this price point. The carrying bag that comes with it is well made, and the attachement points for the strap on the bag seem to be solid( a common point for failure). The geared center column on the auctus and the wheel raise smoothly, although, for my use, I would probably prefer just a fixed platform on the top of the legs. This is a tripod for supporting cameras with large lenses, and is heavier than a small portable tripod. In my opinion, it needs to be heavy to stabilize, especially if you are shooting outdoor sports with crowds around where kids/pets etc are running by. In these situations, the spike legs and the bag attachement for extra weight are also nice features.

Comments about Vanguard Auctus Plus 323CT Carbon Fiber Tripod:

I procrastinated on this tripod for some time and after reading several reviews I opted to check it out for myself at the B&H store. I was sold right way.... Would I rather have a Gitzo ? Why yes I would but for the price and performance of this model I am more than happy with my purchase.

Comments about Vanguard Auctus Plus 323CT Carbon Fiber Tripod:

I love this tripod for reliability and all-weather use. I bought it based on a Popular photography recommendations for Auctus. I needed it right away so started using it when it arrived. This is a heavy duty tripod and is fairly heavy. The Auctus line has some lighter ones and I would recommend lighter if you are planning on taking it on a hiking trip! Finish is excellent.

Quite nice--features are as good as advertised--heavy for a carbon fiber tripod. Marked down 1 star for weight.

Comments about Vanguard Auctus Plus 323CT Carbon Fiber Tripod:

I use this for landscape photography that I can more or less drive to (within maybe 7 miles or so one way)--it is a little heavy for packing in any distance. This tripod strikes me as a bargain for as stable as it is. I compared it to a light travel tripod (Three Legged Thing), and its quality is far, far superior, for only a little more money--though a lot more weight. All components are smoothly finished (unlike the 3LT) and function with heft and are comfortable to hand. Although the wheel elevator may be cumbersome to wildlife photographers, for landscapes it is effortless and a luxury. This tripod feels like a companion in the woods, not an adversary. Highly recommended.
