To start off I use a Nikon d7100, and shoot completely manual at all times. This lens is preferably NOT for full-size image sensors to keep in mind. So a lot of the complaints I read about this lens was about how it doesnt respond to their camera (electronically), or it lacks an auto focus. With the D7100, the light meter system does work and the aperture indicators do show up on the viewfinder, but it is a fully manual lens. Thus meaning you have to take your hand and manually move the inner ring to adjust. It is a shame people lack and/or dont like how simple and "old school" this is. The quality of the build is where it needs to be. It's sturdy, the focus and aperture rings are very smooth and have the right amount of drag, and the glass is flawless. The lens cover is a little on the cheap side and doesnt take much to knock off, but who buys a lens for the cover? Images are brilliant with the Rokinon (I only use RAW format). It holds a great tonal range and does very well with highlights in the upper end (I tend to over expose and back down post-capture for better tones).Don't expect to use this lens in low light conditions with out a tripod or flash. But if you want to capture some vast skys and landscape this is for you, especially long exposures!I am overall very pleased that I purchased this lens compared to some of the steepers prices out there these days.

Nice lens for the price. It is a totally manual lens, so it does not couple to the exposure system on my Nikon 5100. It is a compact light weight lens. Pictures look sharp, though the super wide angle menas there is less detail in the
photo than a panoramic would give. I enjoyed the lens on my recent trip. Just do not forget to reset the camera to auto mode when changing lens.

Great fisheye!

Comments about Rokinon 8mm Ultra Wide Angle f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Nikon F Mount:

I had a fish eye for my Canon but it was very conservative. This fish eye really captures everything and adds great interest to pictures with the distortion. Highly recommend this lens for the price and images produced.

Comments about Rokinon 8mm Ultra Wide Angle f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Nikon F Mount:

I purchased this lens for my IR converted Nikon D7000. Works great for that purpose because it's sharp and doesn't produce hot spots. Some of my much more expensive lenses are useless for infrared photography. The Rokinon 8 also works well with my D800 in DX mode. Combined with Photoshop's Adaptive Wide Angle distortion feature, there's a lot of fun and creativity potential with this moderately priced lens. And, it's very gratifying for an old film guy to have an aperture ring to turn again.

Comments about Rokinon 8mm Ultra Wide Angle f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Nikon F Mount:

I was extremely pleased with the Rokinon 85mm f1.4 and to this day still believe that it is one of the best lenses I've tested. So when the new 8mm f3.5 fisheye was announced, I was pleasantly surprised to test it out. Being an all manual lens and coupled with the Nikon D5100's electronic rangefinder abilities, I thought to myself that this lens has to perform exceptionally well.

I bought this because a friend of mine had it for his camera. For the price as well as a full 180 degree compared to other fisheye's for dx cameras that don't offer that wide, I would recommend this to anyone.

What I really like about this lens is that it actually fits the camera. What Ive found with a lot of these non brand fisheye lenses is that they do not offer the full picture. Others that I tried would have black corners in the image for the inside of the lens. With photos that is easy to crop but with video that bugged the hell out of me. But with the rokinon this was not a problem it fit my Nikon D7100 great. Also an added bonus is that the yellow ring matches nikons colors

This lens is exactly what I expected. For the price it gives you the opportunity to experiment with extreme wide angle perspective and fish-eye effects without going broke. Focus and exposure are manual but that's OK. DOF is so big that focus is not an issue. Do some bracketing and exposure issues go away.

I orignially bought the lens to use as a creative look for travel photography. Being able to catch a unique portraite of a city was my goal. However, I have loved experimenting it with people. When you are far away from the person, in a goregous landscape, it can really be quite captivating. It's fun addition. It is really sharp and eluminates colors. The only thing that I don't like (which buying it I knew) was that it doesn't have autofocus cabaility on my Nikon. Other than that it's great!

Of course there is angular distortion with this lens, by definition. It is a worthy lens especially if you can't spend >$. Never quite understood how to focus but in reality every subject was in fair focus from about 30 feet and beyond. I did decide to trade this in on a Nikon 10.5 mm lens (considerably more expensive) but can relate more to the close-up focusing process on the Nikon.

Comments about Rokinon 8mm Ultra Wide Angle f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Nikon F Mount:

This is an update for my last review. This lens works with the D7100 in full manual. Although it does not have the chip for exposure, it will allow you to get exposure meter, aperture readings, ISO readings, and focus rangefinder. All on the D7100. This is not the case with D3200. Thus, no need to get the chipped version if you have a D7100. Also, it records the EXIF data to the file.

On the D7100 all you do is go to Non-CPU lens option, and enter in f/3.5, and 8mm. The camera stores the data and applies the adjustments whenever you attach the lens.

Great lens for a good price.
