Comments about Rokinon 14mm Ultra Wide-Angle f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens For Nikon:

When I receive it, I thought it'll fall apart like some reviews online. Nope, the quality is actually pretty good and it feels solid. I then check the infamous mustache distortion by shooting the build across out place and it is clearly visible. Before buying the lens I downloaded the lens profile for this lens to lightroom and basically fixed the distortion. The night I receive this len, I drove 100 miles away to shoot the Milky Way using my D700 and man, I definitely cross that from my bucket list.
The downside of course is no AF but you don't need it as setting it 10ft and you're pretty much focus to infinite even at wide open aperture. The thing I don't get though is the lens set at 2.8 but my camera sees 1.4* . as long as it works and sharp wide open.

Great wide angle for the price point

Comments about Rokinon 14mm Ultra Wide-Angle f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens For Nikon:

If you're looking for a fixed wide angle view, this is a decent option with a great price tag. There is significant vignetting and substantial softening on the edges at lower F stop numbers. But keep it a little higher, fix it in post, and it does a great job.
It's a pretty bulky and hefty lens, so not super portable. The aperture ring and focus ring are appropriately tight and don't bump easily.

Indoor, night sky shooter? Then this could be the best bang for the buck wide lens available. Mine is completely sharp, and looks great! The focus ring is super smooth and pretty long, which is hard for speed, but awesome for precision.

Comments about Rokinon 14mm Ultra Wide-Angle f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens For Nikon:

For this price, I wasn't expecting a lot, even though I'd read a lot of good reviews. For landscapes it's certainly much sharper and richer than my Nikkor 24-70 f/2.8, a lens I like a lot.The mustache distortion is fairly extreme on straight lines at bottom of frame, but a Lightroom preset fixes that quite well. For the money, amazing lens.

Comments about Rokinon 14mm Ultra Wide-Angle f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens For Nikon:

This lens is great if you know what you're getting into. You might get a bad copy but that's the risk you take with any off brand lens. The great thing about this lens is that it has no coma even at 2.8 and is sharp even in the corners at 2.8. This is the lens to have for night photography. It can work fairly well for landscape photography, be sure to download the lens profile for it though because it has some really funky mustache distortion, but is easily corrected with the profile.

Comments about Rokinon 14mm Ultra Wide-Angle f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens For Nikon:

The first lens I received was soft. I got a replacement and it was much better, very sharp in the center portion. Unfortunately, this copy was de-centered, one corner very sharp, the other complete mush. Giving it 2 stars for sharp center at least. Sent back waiting for a replacement, I really want to like this lens.

We use this lense on our NEX VG20 and it is probably our most used lens in the kit. Really nice angle for promo stuff, small and lightwieght - no complaints

Comments about Rokinon 14mm Ultra Wide-Angle f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens For Nikon:

I have read how amazingly sharp this lens is supposed to be. I ordered one and after it arrived I ran it through the usual tests I do for all my lens purchases. Results were soft images. I thought since it was a manual focus my focus might be off so I tested this lens more than I would normally. Soft no matter what I tried. I am sending this back and have asked for a replacement. Hoping the one I received first was an exception and the next one will be as I expected and read about.
