Comments about Velbon MAXi 347GB BL 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with PHD-31Q Panhead:

I wanted a light and compact tripod. Without breaking the bank. I have one that is too heavy and the other is just too unstable. The MAXi is just right. It packs well and doesn't take up much room. Great for carry on when flying.
So far nothing bad to say about it, it does what I wanted it to.

Comments about Velbon MAXi 347GB BL 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with PHD-31Q Panhead:

Purchased from B&H in 2002. Used with super lightweight video camera. Purchased due to its lightweight and "unlimited lifetime warrantee" because I considered it very expensive. The knob that controls the tilt on the head is either too tight and locks so you need a vise grip or too loose and anything more than about 1 pound does not stay still. First the little plastic lever on the mount quick release broke into a sharp point after about 10 uses. I rounded it. Then one of the very flimsy plastic connectors on the cross braces broke after about 25 uses in 3 years. When I contacted the company I did not have my receipt. B&H could not supply receipts from 2002. Result, I could send $29.95, pay for shipping both ways AND pay for repairs. No deal for me. Ironically, while shredding old business receipts 6 years later I FOUND the receipt. Now we will see if I can get them to honor the unlimited lifetime warrantee. Buyer beware. The product is poorly designed, it is expensive and the company does not stand behind their products. My advice, skip any Velbon products period.
