Comments about ikan EV2 Adjustable DSLR Baseplate:

I needed rods to mount the role focus attachment I bought.

This was perfect for the price and fully adjustable to boot.

And did I mention price? For what you get it's an awesome bargain!

Why spend hundreds? Get quality for less.

Comments about ikan EV2 Adjustable DSLR Baseplate:

This is a pretty affordable DSLR rail setup. Will allow for simple things like follow focus and matteboxes. Overall I am pretty satisfied with this purchase. The only thing that sort of sucks is the thumb screw to attach the camera to the plate. Its a bit tricky at times.

Comments about ikan EV2 Adjustable DSLR Baseplate:

I've been looking for a decent baseplate as I've never owned one and only need for a teleprompter set up. After a quick set up and test I believe it's exactly what I need and I'm excited to have it. I also ordered longer rails to complement it.

I really like the adjustability of the height. Unexpected. Very cool.

I really just needed a baseplate for a simple DSLR shoulder set up. You get what you pay for with the Ikan. The 1/4 20 situation could be a little more thought out but gets the job done. If you know what you need and what you don't this is a great, in-expensive solution. Nothing fancy, just gets the job done.

Comments about ikan EV2 Adjustable DSLR Baseplate:

I've had it for about two weeks and it's really good for the price. I use it with a 5D Mk II, and I'm really pleased with how it has improved the way I interact with my camera.

It feels very solid. There's only one thing I don't like about it: the mounting screw that goes in the camera. Not the screw, actually, the slot where it goes. It's not very accessible, and you'll probably have a hard time on the first few times, but you'll get the hang of it.

Comments about ikan EV2 Adjustable DSLR Baseplate:

After a wild gear goose chase trying to mount both a field monitor and shotgun mic atop my XA10 with various horrible brackets and even worse advice from Canon, I came to the conclusion that if I ever wanted to pan without the monitor wobbling or tilt my rig without a loud creak of plastic, I'd need a better solution, i.e. a rod system built for a smaller camcorder. The EV2 is awesome, built like a tank but compact. It locks onto a standard Manfrotto-style plate on the bottom and affixes the camera on top with a D-Ring screw. (You might want order a few extra.) I use a JAG35 articulating arm to attach my monitor to the right rod and mount the light shotgun atop the camera. It all goes onto my tripod or monopod with sweet satisfaction.

I have not had the need to adjust the EV2, but it seems fairly easy as long as you have the tools.

The D-Ring screw requires a little maneuvering to affix the camera. You might need to slide the rods out of the way to do so, but that's so simple.

It looks like the unit was shipped to accommodate a dslr without a battery pack. But with a little fooling around, it fit my 60D with the battery pack on - very cool - no drilling or tapping.

Comments about ikan EV2 Adjustable DSLR Baseplate:

I tirelessly looked for a DSLR baseplate that adjusted both up and down and left to right center. No one makes a DSLR baseplate that you can adjust a left to right center- except Ikan. I was skeptical having had an IKAN 5" monitor and being disappointed with both picture and build quality. I also don't care for Ikan's very public company politics with regards to religion. Nevetheless the EV2 is everything it claims to be. I have several lenses for my Canon 60D that require adjustment to use a mattebox effectively and the EV2 will adjust height and center for proper use. The baseplate does require some patience to adjust for a lens change. But I believe that to be the trade off for such versatility.
