I specifically was looking for a photo gear backpack that would carry my body, lenses, and most used accessories Plus a few overnight things like socks, underwear, t-shirt and simple toiletries. The Lowepro Video Fastpack 350 looked like my bag until I saw just how huge it was in a video review...

Enter the Video Fastpack 250:
Most reviews are not informative - I want to know what (size) body and main lens (size) you can hold plus other lenses and accessories.

To the point, here is what I hold ~
Main lower gear compartment:
EOS 70D (easily gripped) with EF 70-300L IS with hood extended. Invert the hood and you could slip in a provided partition for an 'upright' EF 24-105L IS, for example.

320EX speedlight (out of case) on left side of camera body/mounted lens (lots of room for larger speedlight, in fact Lowepro made a special compartment where you could fit a long accessory 'under' the speedlight, too.

Two other compartments for 'upright' large lenses (size of EF 24-105L IS, for example)

There is a compartment for a huge laptop that would hug against your spine. I don't have one, and I have read it is uncomfortable for some people.

Upper Compartment: I threw in a rocket blower, SD cards, Lens-pens, a pen, extra AA batteries, extension tubes, and other stuff and I still have room for socks, underwear and a t-shirt plus toothbrush and comb. It actually comes with a little (video?) accessories pack in the upper compartment which seems handy for maybe stuff you don't grab often... remote shutters, etc...

There is an outer upper compartment to easily get at extra batteries, charger, microfiber cloth, Rolaids, and more.

On the side pocket you can put in a water bottle, or I attached a medium sized compact umbrella. There is an upper clip belt to secure it AND you can also pull out the tripod pouch under the water-bottle pouch and insert a tripod leg and share the upper clip belt with the umbrella.

This a large, comfortable, water resistant, well thought out photo-gear backpack that I am excited to have.

I own the Fastpack 100 which is a great little backpack to carry your extra stuff in... "while you carry around your camera body and lens" (yeah, if you put a 70D in this packpack - you can only attach a 18-55 kit sized lens, plus two other upright smallish lenses like 85 f/1.8 size)

You will get many other details from other reviews but I wanted you to know the body size and lenses and accessories you could typically fit.

I did not see ONE video review of this backpack on youtube or anywhere - except one good reviewer briefly showed the size difference between his Video Fastpack 350 and the smaller 250, which sold me on the 250. Thus I took a chance on this bag but am quite pleased.

Remember, the regular Fastpack 250/350 do not have a tripod holder, only the "Video Fastpack". Please let me know if you found this review helpful.

I love the exterior design of this well-made bag (and this bag is remarkably spacious). That said, I returned it as soon as it arrived because I didn't like how the camera body sat somewhat loosely in the padding. I tried to adjust the padding to fix that, but still felt like it was sagging and not completely snug in place. This may have been just the one I got. I am also very cautious about protecting gear (probably too cautious!). But I'm happy now with a smaller bag where the camera sits in its holster a bit tighter.

I did not know whether or not to get the 250 aw or the 350 aw; I went ahead with the 250 aw and I am happy I did! It is the perfect size to fit all of my camera gear, laptop, laptop charger, and a decent amount of personal items.

Comments about Lowepro DSLR Video Fastpack 250 AW (Black):

Backpacks like this tend to be boxy and this is no exception. However given the size it can pass as an ordinary backpack and that is a plus. This comes in three sized and I got the smallest version of the three. It should have three squared compartments for lenses and one long compartment something long one which I dedicated to the microphone. However the adjustable harness was not as adjustable as it should be because the velcros are only at the needed spots. So after taking pads out I ended up putting it back the same way it was like figuring the pieces of a puzzle. I think the whole area should have had the loop-side so the hook-side could attach anywhere. I also wish that the pads come in more shapes and forms. There was so much room to play here and the manufacturer missed the chance to allow something interesting. At the end of the day you can (probably) fit one more think as the factory default padding nicely allows for three lenses beside the one attached to the body. The laptop compartment is crucial for me because I carrying documents (A4 size) in it, or a book, or both. But it's tight enough that pulling the macbook pro out caused all the plastic bases to eventually to come off. I blame Apple though because the adaptor broke as well and I think newer Macs have cheaper plastic. The zipper's pull tab is a rope and not the typical metal. This makes locking it a joke. Of course a metal pull-tab can be broken too, but it can't be so easily cut and this is a disadvantage for a bag containing thousands of dollars equipments. The easy camera access makes this backpack very appealing and indeed works like advertised. The outside pocket on the opposite site of camera access is quite useful spot for a bottle of water and there are other access areas as well. The top area has room to carry additional stuff, lens, adapters, headphone, and has a pouch as well. It can easily hold the 9" diameter tablet.. So yes, the smallest version can contain almost everything and still pass as a normal backpack.

I really love this bag. It hold everything I have very nicely and is great for plane trips. It does fit underneath plane seats. Now I have my computer and camera gear altogether in one bag. Very easy to get to the camera in a hurry if needed. So happy with my purchase.

Comments about Lowepro DSLR Video Fastpack 250 AW (Black):

I purchased this bag to use on a land and sea trip to Alaska, from which I just returned. I wanted a bag that would handle my Pentax K-3 with battery grip attached, the 18-55mm kit lens, 12-24mm ultra wide angle and the 55-300mm tele zoom. This did so with ease, also holding the large lens shade for the 12-24, a few filters, battery charger and other small accessories all in lower camera compartment. Access to the camera was quick and easy once you removed the right shoulder strap, making it like a sling bag.I also needed the bag to hold day pack items, since many days on land we had to get our luggage out early. The top compartment handled various cables, my wife's point and shoot, sunglasses, hooded jacket, snacks and other items as needed for the day. The laptop compartment easily held our netbook and a magazine, plus trip docs. Other storage areas were used for a water bottle, passports and cell phone. It was quite heavy at times, but the straps are well padded. Although I never used the waist strap, the sternum strap was quite helpful. It easily fit either under the seat in front of me, or in overhead storage on the many planes, trains and motor coaches we were on.The bag shows no signs of wear from the trip, unlike my wife's backpack. The material and construction seem quite durable and I look forward to many years of service.About the rain cover - I should have used it. We had a walk through a rainforest outside Juneau during a constant light rain. While nothing inside got wet, you could tell later on that some papers were damp. With all the zippers open, it did dry out completely overnight. All in all, I am very pleased with this backpack and look forward to using it locally, not just on long trips away from home.

I like that I can get into it quickly, My other bags I had to hold open to get the camera out or set it down. It holds extra stuff. It is MUCH more comfortable than a shoulder bag. I looks very well made, tough.
Maybe a little big for my Pentax K7 body and lens but it is great.

Comments about Lowepro DSLR Video Fastpack 250 AW (Black):

This backpack is good value... I can get my 70D with 70-300L IS attached with hood (not inverted). The 70D could easily be gripped in there. Additionally in the same main gear compartment I can get two upright 'EF 24-105L IS' sized lenses in on the right. There is a narrow compartment on the right for a fair-sized speedlight. My extended 320EX has lots of room.

On the side I have had my lightweight Hakuba tripod in the tripod pouch and attached by the clip.

In the upper compartment it holds oodles of accessories. Really you maybe could fit another gripped 70D body in there with various accessories like a rocket blower, AA batteries, ext. tubes, filters, remote cable, and more.

The upper outer compartment has 2 batteries and a charger and a microfiber cloth but could fit more.

I don't have a laptop so its empty unless I think of something... maybe my reflector... perfect.

Knowing this bag also has a rain cover gives peace of mind. Looked at reviews for the Video Fastpack 350... that is a huge bag... the Video 250 is perfect for my needs

The reason why I am adding the comments is that I was looking for a bag that fits a full frame with a 70-200 F2.8. This bag fits it easily. You dont need to go to the 350 AW to do so. Another thing I noticed is that you can put 4 lenses along with the 70-200 mounted to the camera. But its becomes a bit tough to remove the camera and put it back (they squeeze the sides of the 70-200. But if you choose to use two lenses and a flash then you can easily remove the camera and 70-200 for instant sling style shooting. Its not a small bag. When you compare with a sling urban pro 250 its almost twice the size. Also the left area where you put the lens is narrow. The size of a flash not for lenses. But you can squeeze in lenses there.
I like the bag. Its comfortable.

So far a nice backpack to fit laptop and all camera gear in it. It traveled well on plane. Plan to use it for school. Love Lowepro products.

I purchased this backpack for an upcoming trip to Costa Rica. I need something that will safely transport my camera gear, my MacBook Pro and also serve as my carry-on bag for the flight. This backpack does the trick. It is spacious, well-padded and has plenty of room for any of the items I will want with me for the flight. It is bulkier than I would want for a daily bag, so I will use a different LowePro backpack for hiking and daily excursions while in Costa Rica. But, for travel it fits my needs perfectly. Highly recommended!

I am a wedding videographer who is shooting DSLR Video. I am continually running and gunning moving and shooting the couple from location to location and the hardest part of the whole shoot has been lugging my tripod and monopod as well as both DSLR cameras to each location on foot. This backpack has totally solved all my problems. I can carry on my back all my camera equipment and 3 lenses and all my audio microphones (lav and shotgun) as well as cards, lights etc that ordinary photo camera bags don't have room for. Including a computer. How cool is that. If thats not enough, I can also attach a tripod or monopod as well. Now I can also shoot on tripod with my other camera or glidecam and keep moving with the rest of the equipment on my back. 2 camera first look in the middle of the forest or on the beach. No problem, set down my bag and I am ready for two camera shoot. This bag has changed my life and made location shooting on the run a piece of cake. Thank you lowpro for this awesome bag. I adore it and recommend it to any wedding videographer and photograher for that matter!!!!

Was in the market for a new bag that can hold a 13" laptop, Camera Body, 2 Lenses, and Accessories. This bad does all that and more. Where my other bag failed was over time the weather proofing at the zippers wore apart. The built in rain fly will ensure the elements keep out. The quick access panel to the camera is a great touch. The only downside is the construction of the bag that gives it protection also makes it a bit more ridged and so the bag doesn't compress to a smaller size, but this has not been an issue. This is a really strong bag with plenty of space to keep everything safe.

I use this bag to store my D7100 Camera. It holds 3 additional lenses, the camera, flash, and battery grip. The feel of the bag feels sturdy and durable. It does have a weather cover which is a plus if it was to rain. I have not used it much since i purchased it however, I look forward to using it this coming summer.

I just got the backpack and filled it with a lot of my gear, though I haven't yet lugged it around anywhere. Good compartments for camera equipment, and of course the area for a laptop. Well designed and very good quality backpack.
