I do both photography and videography, and I was looking for a bag to serve as a home base. I was debating between this and the Airport Security, and I will say I was initially very skeptical of the International's capacity. A first glance after unboxing left me underwhelmed. However, after rearranging the dividers, I was able to fit this gear inside:

5DmkIII, 60D, 70-200mm, 24-105mm, 11-16mm, 50mm, Kenko Extension Tubes, 580EXII, Zoom H4N, G3 wireless lavs, headphones, audio cables, timer remotes x2, Rode VideoMic Pro, Zfinder, neutral density filters x2, LED light, Y bracket, Rocket Air, quick release plates, batteries, cards, pens, cleaning kit, card reader, and still have room for a laptop in the outer sleeve.

It was put to the test my first flight. It was a photo-finish arriving at the gate...last passenger. It fit front to back (wheels first) in the overhead, talk about peace of mind. I've heard others say the Security only fits sideways, and in that case I would have had to check my bag. Yikes.

The more I use it the more I fall in love with this bag. Such a smart design, from the compartments, to the protection sleeves on the internal zippers, the silent wheels, the solid mesh handle, and the peace of mind security system for locking it up while you're away shooting an event. I HIGHLY recommend this bag to those who travel internationally or who want peace of mind no matter where they are in line for a flight (which you sometimes can't control with connecting flights).

The disadvantage is not being able to pack a 70-200mm vertically, but if packed well can still fit a huge amount of gear. The extending handle is flimsy, so be sure to pick it up by the cloth handle for lifting. Bag is very well made, sturdy design, strong zippers. I love Think Tank!

Loved it at first, but then...

I have a lot of think tank stuff, wallets, multiple bags, two large holsters, a modular belt system/harness, and the Airport Security v2.0 (same feet as this one).

I have a lot of think tank stuff, wallets, multiple bags, two large holsters, a modular belt system/harness, and the Airport Security v2.0 (same feet as this one).

It's generally smart and really well designed, but after a little over a year the front rubber feet wore out so much that the front nylon part of the case began to scrape the ground and tear open.

Think Tank, WHO ACTUALLY MAKES FUN of Pelican'sLifetime Warranty in their materials, saying that they are reasonable actually told me that 16 months for the feet to wear almost completely away was "reasonable wear and tear." They wouldn't even SELL me a new set of feet. For a case as expensive as this, I expected better.

So it's probably good for the occasional vacation traveler, but if you use it daily, it won't hold up for long at all. Do what I did and replace it with a Pelican, whose products are pretty bomb-proof and when they do wear out they replace them with new pieces

Such a cool and practical bag!!

    By Brian

Comments about Think Tank Photo Airport International V 2.0 Rolling Camera Bag (Black):

I love my new bag! It's going to be so much more secure and comfortable than carrying everything inside of my Retrospective 30 and a Ruggard bag as well. Lots of great security features like the combination TSA locks and all my gear fits perfectly and snug enough, yet not too tight. So being hit from the sides won't damage my lens shades or the lenses. Was able to conceal even more things under some of the gear that sits on top. This will be perfect when I travel back home in the Spring for a wedding I'm shooting. I have this bag in the car when I need to be on location outdoors and then only throw what I need in my Retrospective bag so it's much lighter on my shoulders and my gear stays secure all at the same time. It'll be a breeze to take it as a carry-on, as its small enough for international and US domestic flights. And if I don't need specific gear to take with me I can always pack a couple of pieces of clothing inside of it as well. I tagged everything in the picture so you know what fits. Plus what you don't see is the main flap to access the gear has all of my AA batteries for my flash, memory cards, business cards, cables, and more misc gear. Totally worth the investment.

This is my second roller. Love the product. May have a hard time fitting 200-400MM, 2 cameras, 3 lens, and other small pieces of equipment in roller. I have to take time to sit down and make it work. We shall see!

Comments about Think Tank Photo Airport International V 2.0 Rolling Camera Bag (Black):

I can fit my 400mm lens (barely and broken down), camera body (D300s & D800e) and a couple other things in this bag. I took across country on many flights until my flight home to PDX via San Diego airport and Southwest Airlines. I had this bag and the urban disguise bag with my laptop and personal items and the curb checkin would not let me enter the airport unless I checked one of the bags. Keep in mind, both bags fit easily into the bag box they have there, it was the weight of the two bags combined (75 lbs) they said, even though individually each bag was less than 50 lbs, they would not let me in. They even called their supervisor who backed them up. I ended up taking the train home as I was not about to let baggage handling take either bag from me and destroy the contents by throwing it around. It is my livelihood. If you can get on the plane with the bag, it's wonderful. It fits in all the overhead bins easily, if you can zip it, it fits. It rolls easily and I've taken it on a cruise ship down the Panama canal, Southwest from PDX to CLE with stop over and change of planes in O'Hare, CLE to Ft Lauderdale on Delta. This bag stays in my vehicle for when I need to taxi my camera stuff anywhere. I don't like breaking down and separating my 400mm from my camera body, so I use the KATA KT PL-TLB-600 that stays in my car to allow my camera to stay attached to the lens with lens hood in tact. The side bag for the tripod did fit my Manfrotto (with camo pads) and wimberly head which most of those tripod side areas don't. I ordered the low dividers hoping to cram my laptop in the bag, but with the 400mm lens, that didn't quite work out, plus it probably would have been over 50lbs if it did. It is a small bag... in hindsight, I think I would have opted for the larger bag as the international didn't get me on southwest from San Diego back home and this was a regular plane, no commuter plane... :-( So if I'm going to fight to keep my bag, I'd opt for the bigger one only because this one easily fits everywhere and I really need more room for other lenses, etc... I could use more pockets also ... maybe expandable on the outside .... everything is very tight and no give.... I really need more room for my equipment and I really question the ability to fit a laptop in this bag (my laptop is 17" Asus - very big laptop) as this bag as no give at all width wise. Two levels of storage does not seem possible in this bag.

Comments about Think Tank Photo Airport International V 2.0 Rolling Camera Bag (Black):

I'm a professional wedding photographer with quite a bit of gear that gets lugged around for 6-10 hours on wedding days. I finally decided that I was doing my clients a disservice by being EXHAUSTED from carrying it all on my shoulders, so I finally invested in a rolling bag. So many of the photographers I know use Think Tank, so after some research, I took the plunge. It's a LOT of money to spend on a bag, but I don't regret it all all. It's sturdy, light and keeps my lenses locked in tight. I love that I can rearrange the velcro pads to suit my needs, love all the locking mechanisms, and love all the pockets. I mean come one, this bag even came with its own rain jacket. And of course, my body is definitely happier now that I've lightened the load!

The only thing I wish were different is the handle. I would love if it would more easily lock in a half-way pulled out position because that feels more durable than pulling the hand out all the way. Plus I'm short, so I don't need that long of a handle!

This is a great bag, i used to carry 3 other bags but now its down to 1. I would have to carry these bags around everywhere but now i can just wheel the 1 around. Helps on my back and its easy access. I also am able to bring the bag on the plane and no one will know its a camera bag. I recommend it.

I recommend this version over the slightly larger rolling bag that does not fit in all overheads. NEED FOR IMPROVEMENT: The dividers could be more flexible. All of the long divider pieces should not be wider than the bag. But because they are, they only fit one way. ThinkTank should also make them more flexible with the other half-width pieces that you use to protect your gear. I force bent the long dividers to make it work. It's an easy fix ThinkTank.

What can I say. I believe Think Tank makes the best bags. I have had an Airport Security for about a year now and love it. When I realized I needed more room for additional gear that I recently procured, I chose the International as my second bag.
Both these bags are outstanding quality. The International being only slightly smaller than the Airport Security, I know that I can travel on most international flights now. The zippers are outstanding, probably bomb proof!. After loading up your equipment for the first time, within a few days the interior forms nicely around the gear. Highly recommended!

Comments about Think Tank Photo Airport International V 2.0 Rolling Camera Bag (Black):

So far, it has done well with several car trips.

As you can see, it resembles a conventional roller luggage. So it has not attract unwanted attention by shouting: "I have valuable lenses and cameras inside."

The security features are a plus -- 3 locks total. But a determined person whose intentions are not so pure should be able to overcome these locks with sufficient time and planning/tools.

As for international travel outside the U.S., its weight may require some planning. I would plan to remove lenses and other contents and put them in other carryon bags or a jacket/vest, so the bag remains under weight limits, such as 10 kg. As for stowing it in the overhead compartment, it might be challenging for a more petit/petite person to hoist it up.

The handle for rolling seems fine so far, despite feeling wobbly. (I can understand why others have commented that the handle is the weakest link.)

As for capacity, it's good. The challenge is to not to exceed weight limits for certain international flights.

Comments about Think Tank Photo Airport International V 2.0 Rolling Camera Bag (Black):

I love this camera bag! I had the larger one and found that when I travelled they wanted to check it on smaller planes. Not the case with this one, which makes me feel much safer when flying. The interior is built to last and the wheels are great. The one thing I'd say could improve is the laptop holder. They should advertise it as having one at all.

I have used the bag for a few weddings now and I cannot begin to tell you how much I love it. Easy on the back, protects all my gear and is totally unassuming. Would buy again in a minute!

This really is a top-notch product. It is clear that every effort has been made to use the best materials to produce a well-designed bag. This bag ate up everything from my large shoulder bag, but just barely. If I had it to do over again I might go for the domestic one, which is a bit larger. Having said that, this one is a bit more reasonable in size and doesn't make me look like I am going on a journey in my day-to-day shooting. Everything does fit, it's just tight. No room for growth!

I looked and looked and looked to find a bag that could carry my entire Leica S system. The Leica roller bag was nice, but it is expensive and lacks storage for filters and all of the little support items. I was a bit skeptical about being able to configure this bag for the Leica S, since the lenses are so much larger in diameter than a standard 35mm. But with the help of a glass or two of vino, I was able to configure the bag perfectly! The outer shell of the bag is a bit soft and flexible. But it is well padded and provides a great deal of protection. The partitions allow a number of different configurations and are well thought out. And there is a zippered compartment for everything! The bag itself is lightweight. But once loaded, it gets heavy!

Comments about Think Tank Photo Airport International V 2.0 Rolling Camera Bag (Black):

This bag works for wheeling your gear around or stowing in the passenger cabin overhead bins.

It is a tiny amount smaller than the domestic carry on maximum and should not get pulled out to check. Given what you put inside I would never check it. The bag itself is semi rigid and stands up well to the nudging and jostling of the overhead (carry on) bins. Some of the other reviews have mentioned the construction of the handle. This is not really an issue. It has a small amount of flex with a full bag, but its more than adequate.

In practice I use it mostly in non flying situations, as a companion to a Streetwalker Pro. Materials, fittings and zippers are the best I have seen. I get the following into the Airport International: a full frame camera with 105, 70-200, 16-35, 50, 28 and 300 mm lenses. If you have a longer lens like a 400 or an ultra fast 200, it will fit instead of a 300. There is room for a second body, filters, a speed light, batteries, memory cards, pocket wizards, a Hoodman, and a rain cover.

The security features are well thought out, but by no means impenetrable. If you are flying a lot they are handy to keep things from unzipping, rolling away or preventing some one from lifting an unattended lens during a layover. Think Tank has exemplary customer service. I looked at several other brands including Tamrac, Gura Gear and Lowepro before I settled on these to update my 12 year old assortment.

If I know I am going for a walk & shoot I will put what I need into the Street Walker Pro which is an easy ride on your back. When I need to bring everything I use both packs. When I fly I put the Airport International in the over head bin and place the empty Street Walker Pro inside a large rolling a suitcase full of all my other stuff - that gets checked. If there is anything left over I put it in my coat pocket or an over the shoulder messenger / briefcase style bag that goes under my seat. If you are flying with more camera gear than configures into those possibilities or need to transport lighting you need to get something larger designed for shipping in the checked baggage part of the plane. If you are flying to a remote area or smaller airport on a regional size plane - where the bin sizes vary - it pays to call your carrier to make sure the bag will fit in the overhead bins.

I love this bag and wish I could keep it. The Canon 500mm takes up most of the bag leaving little room for anything else. One camera body will fit, flash, and little things. There's not much room for dividers and stuff once the 500mm is loaded.

Otherwise, this is the perfect bag for those not carrying a 500mm lens. The construction is amazing, the styling wonderful, and the feel great. Lots of room if you've got smaller equipment.
