    Comments about B+W 77mm MRC 702M Hard-Edge Graduated Neutral Density 0.6 Filter (2-Stop):

I use this filter most often for landscape compositions around the time of sunrise or sunset. It reduces the contrast in the photo and which reduces the amount of work required in Lightroom to finalize the photograph. It can also be very helpful around waterfalls. I have used this product for some time; but when it was misplaced I when back to this same filter as a replacement.

        Comments about B+W 77mm MRC 702M Hard-Edge Graduated Neutral Density 0.6 Filter (2-Stop):

Its well made, sturdy, the threads fit perfectly to my 77mm lens and does what a .6 Filter should do. I also like the fact that you can rotate it to match the horizon. Smooth as silk.

          Comments about B+W 77mm MRC 702M Hard-Edge Graduated Neutral Density 0.6 Filter (2-Stop):

My first us of this filter was in Rocky Mountain NP. B+W quality and price, but as they say you get what you pay for. Movement of the graduated portion is very smooth and the "hard edge", while there truly just fades to clear about 2/3rds down the filter. In practice, the edge would likely only be noticeable against a consistent background which is not where you would want to use this filter; I would use a standard or vario ND. Although the filter is only 3-4 mm thick, I used this on a tilt-shift lens (also new) and discovered that I could not tilt as far without some vignetting; this should be expected in this particular application, but I had not really thought about it. First shots I took were without the filter, then added the filter and had to slightly recompose the shot. The filter definitely makes a noticeable difference in the saturation of the blue in the sky and brought out detail that otherwise was washed out in the other shots. For my personal style in shooting landscapes in bright light, I would likely use my Vario ND in conjunction with this filter to achieve the best balance of lighting. This would also allow me to reduce aperture to increase depth of field which in conjunction with the tilt-shift would allow an excellent depth of field in even the harshest of lighting conditions. All in all, I would say this filter is a must have in the toolbox.

I like using this filter when I have the camera on a tripod and am able to get the results I want most of the time. I don't want to carry around a Cokin system so this works for me. The construction is good and the field of coverage is good for most of what I do.

                  Comments about B+W 77mm MRC 702M Hard-Edge Graduated Neutral Density 0.6 Filter (2-Stop):

I thought this was a true full-gradient, with a soft edge. It is not, and I have since returned it.

If this were what I intended to buy, it would be perfect. B+W makes high quality glass, and I trust it enough to put it in front of my Nikon AF-S 24mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.4 and 24-70 f/2.8.

If you want a mild edge on a gradient filter, this is definitely the filter you'll want. .6 is a great level for standard skies and sunsets. If you're dealing with ice and snow, .6 won't be enough, but anything in the regular range this would work perfectly for.

0.6 is the ND degree to go with. B+W has great products I trust and the 702/701 series is glass (Vs. resin) filter.
