Comments about Elvid FieldVision 7" On-Camera Monitor with Sony L & M Battery Plate and Charger:

Works great! I didn't want to spend a ton on something that looked like an HDTV and the price was right. Use an NP-F970 and it lasts all day long when filming sporting tournaments.

Comments about Elvid FieldVision 7" On-Camera Monitor with Sony L & M Battery Plate and Charger:

For the price, does a great job. The battery does not lock onto the battery plate, but that is easy and inexpensive enough to resolve with some velcro. The screen is a lot larger than the camcorder's LCD panel.Connected to the HDMI port of my NEX-EA50UH, this external monitor works great. I am a little disappointed it does not mirror the display of what is on the camcorder's LCD panel (audio levels, camcorder power, memory recording space, zebra, etc.), but in the way that I use it, that does not matter.Connected to the AV-out of my HDR-FX1, this external monitor does a fine job - I had been using an older portable DVD player as an external monitor, but I think I'll get a second one of these Elvid units. The included 3.5mm-to-2-RCA composite video connectors is really handy. The portable DVD player was not camera mountable and this is (and is a lot lighter than the portable DVD player).I have also mounted the external display to a mic stand so others can see what I see. The Sony battery plate and included L (or P) battery all work well with my camcorders, LED lighting... and now this monitor. The included HDMI cable is solid (and a little unwieldy when the monitor is camera mounted). The included accessory shoe mount ball adapter is great. A hard-case would be nice, but I understand adding to the cost and all that. I'll probably pick up another Pelican case for this and some other accessories.I have not had this Elvid monitor very long - used it twice in the field (total runtime of about 9 hours). I used a spare NP-F770 rather than the included battery (same size as the Sony NP-F570) and the use time was more than covered. So far, so good which is why I am seriously considering a second one.I'd like to see a "remaining monitor battery power time" indicator on the screen. A more flexible HDMI cable would be nice, too.

Comments about Elvid FieldVision 7" On-Camera Monitor with Sony L & M Battery Plate and Charger:

I film high school football games for scout.. I have been using the 3.5" LED screen on the camera for the last 8 years. With my new 7" monitor I can follow the ball so much easier. It is a quality product that really helps me.

Comments about Elvid FieldVision 7" On-Camera Monitor with Sony L & M Battery Plate and Charger:

I use this with my Sony FS100 and it gives a HUGE advantage in seeing the image my camera is producing over the 3.5" on-camera screen; however, although the quality of the picture (doesn't match color and contrast) is good, the monitor doesn't read metadata such as timecode or any other feature like peaking of zebra, etc. With that said the size of the monitor is perfect to bring with me on location without hassle and it sets up super easy. Overall, I got what I wanted and can see much better when framing and focusing shots.

I use this monitor to view while recording my Sons soccer games and what a life saver it is! no more following a tiny screen around. I just stand bedhinf the tripod in one spot now.

Comments about Elvid FieldVision 7" On-Camera Monitor with Sony L & M Battery Plate and Charger:

Good bright screen, great kit with many parts for price. Used as location monitor for video camera. Works ok with articulated arm with clamp to tripod or mounted on top of camera. Do not recommend mounting on side of camera with arm unless stationary - due to weight.

Battery does not stay locked in place well and tends to fall out very easily. Plan on adding Velcro strap for battery.

Comments about Elvid FieldVision 7" On-Camera Monitor with Sony L & M Battery Plate and Charger:

My requirement for a monitor was something easy to travel with; lightweight; clear resolution; and can accommodate a feed from any of the cameras I use.

So 75% of those needs were fulfilled. Using the monitor is simple and straight forward. I get a clear picture under most circumstances. The picture when connected via HDMI is as clear as can be desired from a low cost system.

One of my specific needs is to mount the monitor in a helicopter for the benefit of the pilot while shooting aerials of off-roasd racing cars. We do not have the benefit of high budget so shooting off the shoulder is the method. However I was disappointed to find that when taking a regular AV out feed from the camera, the image on the monitor was reduced to 2/3 of the screen size. This I understand is because the signal is basically a SD picture and when aspect ratio is corrected the result is a reduction in image size. It is still possible to work with it like this but it would be ideal if the screen could be filled end to end.
