I needed something GOOD to protect my Canon 70-200L f2.8 IS II, with and without the extender, and my 400L prime...in wet weather situations, including foggy morns.

And, beyond that, I wanted to lessen the impact of the camera body and attached putty white lens while in natural surroundings. Since I wear muted colors or camo top to bottom in most nature locations, it only made sense to get a top quality product for the costly end of the photography experience.

This RainCoat STANDARD camo sleeve has met all of my expectations to date and there have been a few nasty ones. I haven't given it the test in driving snow yet. That's simply not in my plans at this point. But, powdery light snow... absolutely.

Just know, this product is soft, has ample room for up to the 400L prime WITH camera body attached, doesn't impede use of a tripod, attaches quickly with proper sized velcro straps, and can be fitted as snuggly as you want. The side sleeve opening for your "shutter" hand is long enough for easy camera operation in wet weather.

It comes in a camo pouch of good quality so it can be repacked and stored wherever you want. Would highly recommend that you fit it to your equipment set-up a time or two in comfy surroundings before REALLY needing it in a quickly changing outdoor setting.

Remember when you were a kid getting your first rain parka? Looked great, kept you dry, but you needed a parent to help you out it on.
My new RainCoat LensCoat certainly does the job of keeping most of the rain off my telephoto lenses (70-200mm, 80-400mm)and camera(D700), as I stand on the sidelines watching my sons get soaked at rugby. But a small diagram or instruction sheet in the pack could have saved me heaps of time when first I put it on.
Otherwise it's very good, although the camouflage pattern causes the local ducks to look at me suspiciously! Highly recommended.

Comments about RainCoat Standard (Digital Camo):

I traveled to heavy snow on the east coast and used on 100-400m lens. Works best when fully extended. On shorter lens it gets a bit bulky with extra material scruntched up but the idea is to protect the camera at any cost so it does do that. The accessory industry has not yet figured out that velcro fasteners make a lot of noise so if you're shooting wildlife at any reasonable distance, adjusting anything that has a velcro strap is impossible. So the cover needs to be in place the way you want it before you shoot!

Comments about RainCoat Standard (Realtree Max4):

The RainCoat is great for protecting my equipment when shooting in the rain and snow. The Max4 camo is an added benefit when shooting wildlife out of my portable blind as well. I had a bird land on my lens one day while shooting and didn't realize it until I looked up from the viewfinder, a surprize for the both of us.

TRIED IT IN THE RECENT SNOW AND IT WAS ACKWARD TO USE. I WAS able to shoot but it was alittle awkward to zoom and the lcd screen kept going on and off as the cloth touch the sensor. Only the first try so I am sure I can master the raincoat. Camera was dry.

I'd had enough of shooting events under umbrellas, from my car, etc. and decided to purchase the LensCoat sleeve. First weekend of shooting a cyclocross race with it on and the weather really tested it. My camera and lens stayed dry through three days of shooting in the rain. My only complaint is I should have bought this sooner.

                        Comments about RainCoat Standard (Black):

We get a lot of stormy weather at the mouth of the Columbia River, making rain gear a necessity for both photographer and camera. The RainCoat is perfect for such situations, at least for your camera and lenses.

The manufacturer provides a demo video making it look easy to use, so one might be suspicious and think they practiced a hundred times before filming. You might have to practice just once, and that is mainly to learn the routine and make any adjustment to allow for the lenth of the lens you use. My 70~200mm f/2.8 and 400mm f/5.6 were right at home in the RainCoat.

I was quite surprised to see the sleeve, when folded into the RainCoat, takes almost no room. While I don't personally see a need a sleeve on the left side, it can be useful and won't be in the way if not used. It's something to consider.

I almost picked the camo RainCoat, but decided to go with black because when I brought a camo collar home for Morris -- our cat -- my wife nearly had a cow. So in the interests of maintaining marital bliss I made the safer choice.

The only "accessory" I can recommend is a large garbage bag, which can serve as a ground cloth, a place to store equipment or serve as a raincoat in an emergency. But then, every camera bag should have one.

This is a well made, carefully thought out accessory that every photographer should give very serious consideration.

Comments about RainCoat Standard (Forest Green):

After looking at the various rain covers available on the market (from glorified plastic bags up through custom fitted sleeves) I settled on the RainCoat as the ideal solution.

The cover is sturdy and well made and fits a wide variety of configurations from my 5D2/24-105 to my 1Dx/70-200 with room to spare.

The lens end of the cover wraps firmly around the hood and the back cinches up tightly to prevent water, dust and grime from getting to the camera or can be opened a little or a lot to allow rear-screen viewing.

The access sleeve can be put away behind a velcro cover or can provide access to the camera functions.

The bottom velcro closure can be sealed for hand holding or can be used to allow a tripod or sling to be connected.

All in all I'm more than satisfied with my purchase!

So far, I've used this during a constant rain in New York City... it works perfectly as far as waterproof covers go. My only gripe would be that it doesn't come with any detailed diagrams that explain how to use it correctly. Aside that, you can't go wrong.

I used this product on Christmas Eve when it was snowing. I took it right out of the package and managed to use it, but there were no instructions.
It was a gift and I think the picture on this survey is the first I've seen. A bit awkward for me. Since I would never take my camera out in a snowstorm, it worked great!

I found this easy to use and easy to take off, however my boss didn't find it quite as handy. He found it frustrating to use and preferred to put the camera 10 metres away, undercover rather than getting in close. It isn't exactly easy to adjust the focus, but when it was raining and I had to get some different angles it managed to do the trick and I found it easy to take off without any problems.

Comments about RainCoat Standard (Digital Camo):

This is just what I was looking for. I am working on a project about a local fishing community and needed protection when I was on the boat for my camera that would allow me to get the shots that I need without damaging my camera. I have water-housing, but I didn't want to use something to that extreme. This was perfect.

Widening my skills and wanted to take advantage of some of the lighting, clouds, etc on rainy days. Also wanted to protect the gear from sand, etc on the beaches. The Video on the B&H website convinced me the Lenscoat Raincost was the way to go. Well designed, allows use on tripod, allows me to get my hands directly on the camera without removing the Raincoat. It does take some effort to get it on correctly but I expect to get better with it each time I use it. I am definitely pleased with it so far.

Not wanting to use an umbrella attached to a tripod, and having not been able to fashion a piece of gear myself, this is a perfect addition to my landscape and wildlife kit. It is KISS designed, which is perfect for me, and really does a fine job of protecting my camera and lenses. I use this when shooting static from a tripod and have even used it handheld in a boat. Perfect.

I was recently out capturing images of birds from a boat, with rain and spray. I was using a two for $9 clear plastic rain guard...that did not work well The camera and lens stil got wet and it was difficult to gain access to the controls, as well as see through the view finder without allowing the rain and spray to get in. The RAINCOAT solved all of these problems. Thanks LensCoat for a great product!
