I converted to mac back in 2009. I primarily use them for my video business. I edit with Adobe Premiere Pro. I have 4 macs in all, a Mac pro for my primary edit machine an imac for a 2nd standard rough editor. I have an alder 17" MacBook pro 2008 model I bought from a friend. Loved that one used it as a rough mobile editor. Only issue with it was it was big, 17" is almost to big for sitting in your lapin a waiting room. It ran supper hot and I had to get a cooling pad to keep it from temps of 220 degrees (use istat to monitor temps. Well I guess my HD footage burned the logic board up it went on me. So I got this 13.3" macbook as a replacement mostly for the money but secondly for the size. Its not a computer you want to edit video on all the time because the size, but you can do what I do when I'm home I hook to a 32" monitor and its awesome. Plenty of power for HD editing way more than my 17". Runs allot cooler than my old 17" macbook pro.

I do like that this one is up-gradable as appose to the retina versions. The retina version; memory and solid state drive are not replaceable. They say the retina screen is so much better. Well the LED is much better and clearer than my old 17" so I don't care about retina. Not worth the un-ability to change memory or hard drives. I also like having a DVD drive. Why they are phasing those out, beats me. I have the need to rip out DVD's from time to time.

How sad when a good product goes bad. Greed and desire for control is destroying Mac computers.
This computer came with Maverick and it is a worse OS than Windows.
This computer WAS however well built and last of it's kind in being able to upgrade it, ie RAM and HDs without having to buy a new computer.
New Macbooks are no longer upgradable.
So I will use my old (2006) 17" MBP until it dies . . .

Comments about Apple 13.3" MacBook Pro Notebook Computer (Mid 2012):

I needed a new MacBook to replace my aging MacBook from 2009. That computer was a solid performer, tough as nails and never let me down. I checked out the "new" MacBooks but I wasn't happy with the smaller 12" screen and lack of CD/DVD drive. It's a feature that I use rather often personally. I also wanted the bigger screen for photo work on the "go". This computer fits the bill perfectly: solid design, 13.3", and the reliability for which Apple products are known.

Comments about Apple 13.3" MacBook Pro Notebook Computer (Mid 2012):

I needed a new laptop but didn't want to have to run a newer OS than what my two other Macs are running. This mid-2012 model originally shipped with 10.8.5. My new machine arrived with Yosemite and according to Apple tech support it had a firmware upgrade to support Yosemite and therefore I couldn't roll the OS back to 10.8.5. So far that does NOT appear to be the case, I'm booting it off an external formatted with 10.8.5 and everything is working fine. Next up, replace the internal drive with an SSD and format it with 10.8.5.

Comments about Apple 13.3" MacBook Pro Notebook Computer (Mid 2012):

I know how to use a Mac but never really became a Mac user. Boy am I glad I got this baby. It is the last of its kind and scalability of this model compared to the newer ones is one of the main reasons why I got one. I have already installed 16GB of memory, and removed the optical drive and installed a second SSD drive. I now have an Intel and a OCZ drive installed with windows 10 on the Intel as Primary and the Mac OS 10.10.5 on the OCZ as the secondary (in the optical bay). The only issue I had was the bootcamp drivers for Windows 10. I finally got it working perfectly. Oh....I don't like the new power adapters, I much prefer the "T" adapter. As usual B&H sent my Mac in perfect condition. All I can say is if you are looking for a Apple laptop and are the do-it-yourself type of a person I highly recommend this 13.3 inch Mid 2012 MacBook Pro and get one while they are still available. Cheers!!!

Hard Disk of MacBook Pro Just Died

      By Sky

Comments about Apple 13.3" MacBook Pro Notebook Computer (Mid 2012):

I can't believe that my two year 13.3" MacBook Pro Notebook (that I had purchased in early 2013) has just died. It has failed boot up although Apple Hard Disk Test says the hard disk is fine and everything is fine.

The machine crashes after struggling with a Prohibited Sign and a folder image, the Apple icon is unable to show up.

      LAST OF IT'S KIND

      By Russell27

      from Ohio

Comments about Apple 13.3" MacBook Pro Notebook Computer (Mid 2012):

I have both the MGX72LL/A Retina, and this old school MD101LL/A non Retina. I'm sure many have read the oft cited differences; if I could only have one, this is it. The MGX72LL/A Retina screen is nice but not perfect. At full screen resolution with Mavericks, the retina has some screen lag with some applications, maybe gone with newer models. Boots in fifteen seconds, and battery life is a bit better, especially in standby, pretty fast machine. I notice the Retina resolution most with text diplayed.

This old school machine is fully buildable, Optical drive, and ethernet port, last of it's kind with these features, and still important to me. Even the battery is easier to change. Another plus for me, I can run my favorite old OS, WINDOWS XP, on paralles virtual machine with all my old programs and drivers, and it works great in the 1280 X 800 non Retina resolution. On the Retina screen it doesn't look right, paralles didn't seem to optimize the 2560 X 1600 resolution for XP, probably because it's a dated OS. From what I've read, windows 7 looks pretty good. I've been a WINDOWS man for a long time. Can't say the sun sets with APPLE, but if it wasn't for WINDOWS 8, probably wouldn't have found this fine little machine.

      B&H is a decent outfit.

This is the LAST apple computer that the consumer can upgrade the memory and storage! "PUT THE WOZ IN COMMAND"The people in charge of apple now, are suffering from"CRANIAL RECTOSIS" After this one, you'll have to consent to being financialy raped, to get a properly configured apple computer. If you can get one of these, do so, you'll love it!
